    Love love what you’re doing with the front garden! Can’t wait to see it all come to fruition. I agree with the philosophy of planting close. Who doesn’t love a mass of rose blooms?! Keep the tours coming - I’ll watch each one! -Clarice

    Amazing as always Lauren! Replace the willow, the maple will make that area pop. I just added sweet mademoiselle to my list! Can you do a pruning video on how you prune the plants that aren’t doing so hot to promote growth? I didn’t know the foxgloves can tolerate shade, they are beautiful in the side garden amongst the ferns and hostas.

    Found 3 Sweet Mademoiselle today at Pikes Nursery, they immediately went in cart, can’t wait to see them grow, I think they will grow fast and huge in this Atlanta, Zone 8a climate.

      I love Pike’s! We must live close by, I’m in west cumming. Basically right in the middle between canton and cumming off hwy 20! They will do very well for you! Mine have gotten huge since planting them last year.

    another Japanese maple will balance that area more....but I also love willows!! I can see why you're torn. Itoh peonies dont need support- I have issues of my peonies flopping over esp sarah bernhard because shes so big a beautiful! its a nice problem to have lol! I have 6 roses from Palatine and I've added more to get in Dec. when ordering opens again - Im getting a pompenella and courage and more koko loco because shes such a diva! Love the space you created! thanks for sharing! Blessings from Ontario Canada :)

    Remove the willow. The extra sun w benefit the garden. Gorgeous roses. Do you have a flame thrower for weeds? Easy peasy. 😊

    If you like plants with the moon in the name, you need to try PW's oak leaf hydrangea, called Gatsby Moon. I just got one myself.
    As for your Princess Charlene , sometimes weak stems are an insect issue that usually resolves once the beneficial insects start coming around. I noticed this on my Crown Princess Margareta, which normally is no trouble at all.

    I would take out the willow, the blood Good maple would as a much needed pop of color and in the long run would do much better in the lower light of the canopy then the willow wood plus the willow would need much more water to do well and given the density of the planting around it already it’s likely to suffer in the long run

    Hi, beautiful garden! Do you have to spray for chilli thrips?

    • @summermoongarden
      @summermoongarden  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I’ve only had to spray rose rx once, in my new Dawn that is being covered up by a hydrangea up front. It was really bad-probably because of air circulation issues. But it should outgrow the hydrangea soon. I technically have a no spray garden, but if o get a serious infestation I will spray.

    Which roses from Meilland have you ordered? Have you decided that that David Austin roses are just too fragile? How do you feel that New Dawn compares to Blush Noisette? (I'm trying to decide between the two, also considering Nahema).

    • @summermoongarden
      @summermoongarden  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I’ve got 6 Francis meilland roses coming to me next week. Yes, I’ve decided to stop purchasing DA roses since most of them end up dying on me. The ones that last in my garden can stay. I think that New Dawn gets much bigger than Blush Noisette. And the blooms on Blush N are more like tiny spray roses where as New Dawn’s flowers a bigger. I tried growing Nahema but she didn’t make it for me-maybe you’ll have better luck?! That one is so beautiful too!❤

      @@summermoongarden Thank you for answering me, I feel honoured. I'm having trouble keeping DA roses alive too but then we've had rain every day for months on end, more rain here in France than we've had in decades and my back garden is almost more swamp than garden. So, read, black spot everywhere. I'm looking at maybe only planting Kordes warriors from now on. But there is an exception, Gertrude Jekyll is THRIVING.
      You didn't tell me WHICH Meilland roses you've ordered. I guess I'll find out. I'm holding off on more rose purchases until the Fall anyway because I need to evaluate what I'm doing (holding off except for the purchase of a climber or rambler for one particular spot). What you think of your Meillands will influence my future purchases. I really admire your garden, everything about it. Your Félicité Perpétue is amazing!

    I live in north ga as well. Do you use a fungicide on your roses with the humidity that we have?

    • @summermoongarden
      @summermoongarden  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I tried for many years to use it and just never saw a difference with it. Now I’ve got so many it would be too time consuming and expensive to keep up with a spraying routine so I have a no spray garden. I try my best to choose varieties that do not get black spot and that way the garden always looks beautiful! Kordes roses are the best as far as disease resistance. Most Meilland roses are just as good as well, but not all of them.

      @@summermoongarden - thank you for the information regarding Kordes roses. I gave up on David Austin because of disease here in the south. I’ll give Kordes roses a try!

      I have got to do a recount! Somewhere around 250 I think? Yes, I care for all of them myself. But I do have landscapers take care of the grass.
