Angel, life has a learning curve that leads us to patience. Be at peace. Knowledge is power.
It was like watching a train wreck. I couldn't look away. lol
😂
Dude! Setting that bell housing on the fender is gonna scratch the paint 😂
😂😂
Oh no!!! hahahaha
FYI, Accel makes "Header" spark plugs for tight installations. Those, mated to a 90 degree plug wire boot might save you the headache of making custom headers. Keep up the great content!
Yeaaahhhhh with wavie fists ....... and Angel did such a great job cleaning that block plate that will never be seen
For once I am happy to see a Karen.
Hi Karen🙋🏼♂
She says Hi back
Never easy to do a swap…I had headers custom made for my 351W/‘67 ford F250. Headman did the work and they were perfect. Lotsa scrounging but I finally got it all running and had the fastest and ugliest hot rod in Albuquerque for a time. Stay with it, in its own way, it’s a work of art.👍🏽
I appreciate your perseverance.
Definitely learning your way thru the important details young man! Good stuff.
Always remember to check twice.
ALWAYS find out if you don't know. Assume nothing.
Better safe than sorry.
Organization is key.
Safety is Paramount.
Use the right tools (6pt sockets on hex bolts, 12pt on star bolts, etc)
If you want, make this a poster and put on your shop wall.
I've heard running a cold thermostat can have unexpected issues here in Arizona. The coolant never sits in the radiator long enough to cool down, leading to temperature creeping up. If you have temperature issues, remember that.
Dude, you have such a great attitude. You take all those "learning moments" in stride, and use them as experience, not problems that can't be managed.
That makes sense!! Ill keep that in mind when we run it!
Thanks Robert!!
That 3 mm hole is well worth the ease of bleeding. I think the hot weather overheating occurs when people leave the thermostat out altogether.
@@charlessmarr7107 correctamundo....the outer plate of the thermostat acts as a flow restriction of sorts so that the water does not flow thru the radiator too fast to cool.
It is running w/o a thermostat that is bad, not the temp of the 'stat.
Back in the day people were of the mindset that leaving out the thermostat had some sort of help in aiding an over heating engine, not so my nizzle, run the 160, you'll be fine.
Those 4 bar GT40P heads are rough on plugs and wires. They made special headers just for them, but they've been out of production for years and cost a fortune if you can find them. Most people have to buy shorty spark plugs, 90° wire boots, and lightly bash in the primary tubes, then heat wrap both the wire and header.
as someone who has never pulled a motor myself, seeing you do it all the time is actually making me pretty proficient when it comes to be my turn ;) You're just part of the grand machine/matrix of knowledge, and not just a rookie (!) after all! :) Impressed that you aren't throwing things around the shop when those realizations come, because that's 100% how I do it. lol :D
Thanks it takes a lot to not freak out 😂
Angel after all the engine going and out you will be ‘The’ expert at engine swapping 🎉
At this point😂
Speaking of aviation stuff -- maybe down the road, you can fix up a small plane or something. That would be really cool to watch.
These little setbacks just disappear...whenever you go out flying again. In your shoes, flying an airplane would be my psychotherapy! Aloha to you and your patient significant other!
Yes exactly!!! Its a blissful getaway…sometimes…
The wonderful world of Ford. I feel for you. It can almost make you a Chevy fan.
Almost.
It's called trial and error, and error, and error...😜
😂
cleaning parts noone will ever see - Sarah trained you well 😂
Btw: you hold the DIY headers upside down 😉
I can only imagine the swearing that was cut out of the video....HAHAHA!! Stay tenacious, my friend... you'll get this 'bad-boy' running soon!
LOL yes id get demonetized 😂 thanks Kapmann!
Hey Angel! Project is coming along. Again, sorry, but think I need to point something out with your EFI.
Many after market EFI systems need to run between 180-195 in order to go into “learning” mode. If it run too cool, the efficiency could suffer, where the engine can run rich all the time (since it’s not learning). A 140 degree thermostat may seem the right idea for AZ temps, but it may leave disappointed with MPH. Good news is there may be a work around with the FiTech in the Pro Tuning to use a cooler thermostat. But if it was me, I’d use whatever FiTech recommends.
Keep the content coming! Cheers!
Great comment! I did not know they had a certain temp where they learn, the thermostat is a 160! I can set up the fans to kick on where itll stay somewhere in the 180 range!
Another chapter. There`s never a shortage of things to go wrong. It`s coming!
Im gonna use that from now on🤣
When pulling the engine out, remember the wise words of DJ Khaled, "Another One" 😉
Look at it from the bright side, free at home workout, no gym membership needed ;-)
Right… 😂
That ARP harmonic balancer bolt is awesome... I have one for mine and the square drive makes it so easy when you're working on things... no socket to slip off the bolt. BUT... make sure you measure and ensure that the bolt doesn't bottom. Mine was a little too long (reviews on Summit show this to be the case for others as well) and I had to cut a bit off of the end. But it was so close, it might not have been obvious that the harmonic balancer wasn't completely tightened down despite the bolt being tight.
Hi Angel well only a couple trip ups. You’ll get it straightened out. Funny how somethings get changed yet somehow stay the same. Stay cool
Thank you!
@@rookie__pilot Hey I just noticed something. On rewatching is there a rear main seal in the engine? Couldn’t tell if it was there.
Eh, it's part and parcel of this damn hobby. Keep up the good work and thank you for the footage.
Great video. You could section the separation plate to make it fit. It’s only a small portion of the plate. Would have to test to see if it’s possible.
Just curious. Why are you running a 160° thermostat? The bleed holes a good idea.
If you’re running a cooler thermostat, the fluid is continually running through the block and not pulling the heat out of the block. Back when I was racing, we tried this method. We actually went up 5°, and the fluid stayed in the block longer, soaking up the heat and it ran better.
good job!
Thanks!!
Learning is fun!😊
Mate the trans and eng before installing in the car. Also you can check for starter clearance before installing in car. Making sure things fit first will make your life much easier .
If you want to use that V6 transmission you can swap the bellhousing, input shaft, and bearing retainer and maybe put a speedo gear on the output shaft. The V6 boxes are more likely to break 3rd if you beat on them but I like the ratios better, 3.35:1 first will take off hard and the o/d is taller too. The two different block plates coincide with the 157 or 164 tooth flywheel, different diameters and balance weights, make sure your stuff is all friends. Good videos and progress.
👍👍
Dewd....heads up on your mid-plate.
The starter offset was so there could be differing flywheel/flexplate diameters on the engine.
Be VERY aware of starter engagement BEFORE you hit the key to start the dang thing.....mmmk ?
You could conceivably fuxor both a starter AND a flywheel.....and we don't want that, do we ?
Hi, you have a 157T flywheel and a 164T block plate which places the starter further out.
"the" infamous Michael Sanchez.
YOU NEED A DOWEL PIN! There is NO way around it!
Ive done the trans plate thing myself..more than once lol
Don’t fret over the casters. I’ve had several hoists over the years and all had lousy casters. Last year I spent way too much just on good casters to finally solve that problem. And they are just as bad as the cheap ones.
Oh crap!!!
Will I do that again ? Probably not but there will be thousands of other opportunities along the way. 😀
I am sure I heard "SLOW DOWN to SPEED UP" many times when I was starting out 50 years ago. Some things just do not change! 🤗
Great video
My fault !!!! 😅
Your job is so nice you do it twice/ thrice😅
For us rookies, please explain the roll of break in oil and why it is necessary. Thanks. luv your channel.
Great question! Will mention that in the next one!!
@@rookie__pilot Thanks
High content of zinc in the oil..helps seat the rings..valves..also for solid lifter cams....etc...usually run it for a 500 miles...
@@booncha1971 thanks for the info.
Hmmmmmm, block plate for a 164 tooth ring gear , bellhousing for a 157 tooth ring gear . I hope you got a flywheel with a 157 tooth ring gear or you will find another issue once you try to install a starter
Sarah is rubbing off and making you clean things before they go back on, even if no one sees it.
👊👍
Let's gggoooooooo!!!
👍🏻✌🏼
A lot of positive, encouraging comments here. I don't know anything about filming content for CZcams, but I do know a thing or two about building things. Suggestion; if it's possible, slow down a bit and think things through. And check and double check everything before you turn a wrench. When you are doing fairly substantial modifications from factory OEM, it is easy to overlook a lot. Like I said, CZcams content creating is out of my wheelhouse, but I would think you would get more subscribers if you showcased solid technique and forward progress while keeping the mistakes in so we know you are real.
why not use a shorter plug? Plus a 90 degree plug boot...
Are you really wrenching if you don't have to do it 2-3 times
I had no audio for whole thing
Keep trying Angel
Will do!
Can the current plate be redrilled, and ground to fit for testing?
Second, what diameter primary tubes is the header kit designed for?
Probably just worth buying a new one, looking for some local options but nothing yet!
I believe they are 1 5/8 but i have to double check
Damn. We don't have an 1 5/8 die.
Bummer about the wasted time and repeated work, but I'm also wondering why you didn't install the clutch at the same time. Are you planning on taking it all out again? Or dropping the trans? Seems like potentially more wasted time...
Like i said in the video i dont even have the clutch assembly lol, and the transmission has no guts so it definitely has to come out sometime. But! We can have do the first start and EFI learning with just the shell
@@rookie__pilot I totally missed you mentioning that! My bad. I do like that you're doing all this mock up first; it's probably a much smarter approach than what a lot of folks (like me) do, where we just go at it as if it's all just going to work out first try. Of course, it never does. Lol
Can I interest you in a bucket of prop wash?
PLS
Good morning sir. I wanted to ask you a question.i have a 67 mustang with a mustang 2 front suspension I’m going to put a 289 in it with I need a specific oil pan for my set up ?
Yes you need a rear sump oil pan and pick up tube! One from a foxbody should work
@@rookie__pilot thanks sir I appreciate it
😎🍺👍🇦🇺
Don't forget to censor your viewer's address in the packages they send!
Great point thanks!
As long as you can laugh about it you’re doing great!
