    They went with the worst of two options for legends. Either they needed to be way stronger and more impactful and retain the ability to only have one at a time, or they needed to let you have multiple legends concurrently and have them at the really minor power level they're at now. Instead they chose to make them basically neutered and only allow us to have one lukewarm option at a time.

    I really liked the idea of this DLC but it ended up being a very minor update if you exclude the plague system since it's free. For the price, this DLC is just not worth it.

    Paradox should do the hard thing and write out 100s of new events. I love painting the map and getting super exmpires with min maxxed characters, but only because role playing loses its enjoyment really fast once you have played through a couple dynasties. There is no role play to enjoy when the same events happen no matter how different my characters are. My mega empire in Africa should not get the same exact events as a character in India or in Western Europe.
    Not only should things like legends, plagues, tours, tourneys, etc have dozens of more unique events each, but there should be 100s of more events unique to region, religion, culture, tech era, etc. Min Maxxers don't need much, just give them more mechanics and gameplay depth with balancing. They are getting that, but when i've seen nearly every event a dozen times at minimum, my brain just chooses the optimal one. Even if I make a character and dynasty solely to role play as.
    Now, I mostly play on console and I have about 100 other complaints for paradox.
    1. The game crashes if too much happens. Even on new gen consoles getting 200 or 300 years in means having to save and quit every few in game months to avoid crashing.
    2. Where is the DLC or the updates? Tours and Tourneys has been out for a year now and we only got an update from 2 years ago last month.
    3. Multiplayer is even worse for crashes. Me and my friend played one fresh world in two sessions, both in small kingdoms and the game crashed once every 30-60 minutes. It got to the point where he stopped playing early and my friend never got back into the game.
    Legends are a cool concept, but I feel like the effects should be lasting. Like concencrating or strengthening your bloodline. Let one of my early characters become an actual legend and stay a legend. It doesn't have to be exactly like what bloodlines were in CK2, but at the moment legends feel like every other decision where you click whichever one you need then wait for it to pop. Either make the legends more like hunts or make them into the grand epics that effect the world for decades if not centuries.
    King Arthur is a great example. We still talk about King Arthur despite the tale being 100s of years old and it still affects public perception over England and Western Europe in general.

    Remember there is no game over if you get your lands taken away from the next patch on (if you have the next DLC), because now you will become an adventurer if you have no title, so you can be "taken out", but then you become an adventurer and mercenary, and then you can climb up and take back what was yours. Plus... when the scourge of the gods or conqueror dies you can bet the heir will see the empire crumble quite fast because he will not have any of the bonus... the factions will be crazy and I love the whole ramification of it all! I think I read the conqueror traith goes down to the sons, but I don't know if that is a given all the time, we will see >:)

    • @FeedbackIRL
      @FeedbackIRL  Před 7 dny +3

      YEAHH the only TRUE game over is the final end to your dynasty. Interesting how the devs want us to play from the bottom

    • @thelostchevalier
      @thelostchevalier Před 7 dny

      @@FeedbackIRL I dont think is a "they want us to play from" but rather a "we will expand the game by allowing you to continue your story even if you fell from grace".
      If they "wanted" us to play from the bottom then they would force us to start as adventurers all the time, now it has become more interesting by removing the game over by being landless. And I love it! More roleplay, more fun, more interesting scenarios. You can be a Frank that goes to india and becomes a local lord there, the possibilities will be endless now (although I would release the landless play as a free feature if I'm honest, to expand in the feature in the future, make it a base feature)

    So from my limited experience with Legends. I tried playing as a lowly count in Norway in 867. In a single life I managed to create the Empire of the Isle of Mann, and using the Legend mechanic managed to de jure drift several kingdoms into my domain, and religiously convert all the land. By the end of my first characters life I had absorbed the Empires of Scandinavia, Britannia, Francia and Italy.
    I have only played one game with the dlc prior to this and after the update. I mean, it feels pretty overpowered and I don't think I min/max in CK3, but maybe that playthrough says otherwise. Not sure. I will say, I didn't spend any time preparing my succession. The goal was to see how much I could absorb in a single life.

      @@FeedbackIRL 100% agree! It was also just hard to make heads/tails of the legend map so looking forward to that change. I feel like, Legends is half there. I can’t quite put my finger on exactly what I feel would bring it full circle but looking forward to see what PDX does.

      @jarrod6802 Před 6 dny

      I mean aside from de jure drift and conversion you can do all that with any norse asatru count, you start out with the best MAA's in the early game that cost prestige instead of gold, which you can easily farm with raids and gathering halls
      If you play well your first ruler can easily reach living legend status
      On top of that if you're executing prisoners instead ransoming you'll be able to reform your religion in the same lifetime
      All of that without legends, all the legend seemed to do for you was speed up the consolidation of your new territory, which is kind of their whole purpose

    Playing as an unlanded character could be fun, for example only play as direct descendants, even if your cousin inherits everything. But I think the fact that you can't have items when you're not king or emperor kind of kills the fun in not being strong.

    I also notice plagues constantly pop up around my capital way more often that it does my neighbors...or a random plague that originated no where near my territory magically spreads up to just my capital...it is so stupid. I agree nerfing the Grand Events is questionable but the pilgrimages is also a buff since the higher tiers of piety now give a bigger multiplier to the piety earned. So a tier 4 pious pilgrimage is better but a tier 1 porous pilgrimage is worse and in general worldly pilgrimages are nerfed.

    popups covering popups is annoying. for example you convert faith, I found a mod that just sends all conversion requests. but even with manual filter, 2 speed you would just ask vassals one by one and press ok. now comes the court visit or the independence faction popup and you press ok. you lose titles and refuse to get renown. I would always choose the same thing on those instances.

    Ideally they will continue to look at legends. I still think it’s a solid DLC but for example they’ve said that they’re adding more legends types in Roads to Power. A,so they’re completely redoing the Court Events, that’s a pretty big change to a previous DLC.

    Idk, rhe tldr of difficulty in CK3 was more like: we don’t want to just give the Ai modifiers we want to give them in world in game advantages that make sense. As someone who came to CK3 from Civ 6 I agree the game is boo boo baby easy once you become an emperor, maybe even a large king and I will 100% take artificial Ai modifiers. By the conqueror addition much like the mod is welcome.

  • @pnb328
    @pnb328 Před 7 dny +3

    None of the changes matter while the game remains too easy. Everything is worthless, everything is pointless.
    Yes, you can get your 700% powered knights, but why would you do that? can you even tell the difference if a regular MAA stationed in a proper province can stackwipe the world anyway? Why would you continue playing a game when you know there is no possibility of you ever losing, you'll never be challenged, you'll never have to do anything, you'll never have to deal with any sitations of any kind.
    This game invokes boredom, that's the one feeling a game should never provoke in a player, a game can be fun, exciting, interesting, or even frustrating, but when a game gets boring, that's when it dies on a player's mind, there is no worse feeling for a game.

    It's just a trash expansion overall. Their idea of a DLC is to cram random events together with some modifiers and call it a day.
    Instead of actually adding meaningful interactions between AI and players that aren't events. When was the last time they actually added a new scheme? When was the last time they added anything war related?

  • @speedymccreedy8785

    Paradox are clueless. When your heirs go to meet peers, which you now have no choice, they come back half dead.
    Paradox deliberately want to annoy you, not a good move when you are deciding to buy a DLC or not.
    Then to ruin any remaining immersion in the game, your character can suddenly acquire a cool dudes pair of warfarers. The kiddies are running Paradox.
    Then don't bother buying the Legends DLC , the legends cost so much and deliver massively underwhelming benefits. Half an idea poorly implemented.
