In this episode of "The Model Guy" I don't finish the build :(. It's not because of poor kit fit, or an accident...it's a mystery. Okay maybe it's not. My five year old daughter who's never shown any interest in destroying my models (and treats them respectfully) decided it was a target for her tantrum. A commissioned build at that...
So, I still owe Mark a MiG-21 and I will deliver. But to make a good will gesture, I'll be starting on the P-38 tonight! - Jak na to + styl
I can see my 3 year old daughter doing something similar to me one day as well..😯
Right. Im putting a lock on the door where I work
Not much changes 60 yrs ago my brother, 5yrs younger than me used to sneak into my room and break the wheels and props on my models thankfully times weren't so enlightened and would beat the crap out of him.....Happy days.
Its justified. I'd go apeshit in your position
:-) impressive calm mate - not sure I’d be!
Great suggestion on the polished aluminium... will keep that one in mind!
Daughter is forever, models not so much. It wouldn't be great for her if I blew up over something like this. She'd never forget how I made her feel. Easier to just suck it up and take a few nights off
@@TheModelGuy so true mate! Love your work!
Wow. Torqued motion no doubt. that was a beautiful mig. You did a fantastic job on that build.
I would have been so unbelievably angry...gotta keep your cool with kids though. Good work on that Mig, have 2 of those migs in my stash, but I am super slow at finishing models.
And off to boarding school, she went! Man, that sucks, it was looking awesome.
For the very short time this MiG-21 existed, it gave me a couple of pointers towards building my own. 1) Reevaluate having kids. 2) Use Gx2 as a base. 3) Weather the dielectric panels instead of the metallic coat. A short life, but well spent...
Well it was going so well 😨looking forward to the remake though.
An idea for a destroyed mig diorama 😜😜😜
Accidents happen and great response from your sponsor my friend
Calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean!
Exactly the same thing happened to me once. My son (who was later diagnosed with HFA) has gone on to get a first in Chemistry, and I love him more than you know. Shit happens, but it was looking sooo good!
Looks (Looked?) great! I've been trying to get my hand on some Eduard kits but by the time you factor in shipping and duty they are so expensive here in Canada. I think I might have to pull the trigger on one of these migs!
It's a little sad that it's cheaper to order the kits from Europe then in Canada. Shipping inside of Canada is about $30.
Agreed.
I was thinking of just ordering a bunch of stuff from their site just to make the shipping worth while even though id end up spending more in the long run!
That Eduard MiG is a great kit!
I hope we'll see it redone some other time.
We will one day. Just need to find the kit and time.
Wow. Was looking great.
Try putting it back together now, new video challenge.
Ouch, poor Mig 21, it was looking really good.
F
I'm 52 and I do the same things with my model...just yesterday with a F106 MENG...sigh!!!
Ive been waiting for this so much time, there are some out there but not as good as ur models
Great stuff!
Ah that explains what that wailing and gnashing of teeth was, I'm impressed heard it all way here in New Zealand. Kids can't live with them can't sell them for medical experiments. I can't wait to see what you do with the P-38 I'd love to build it but here its north of $100 NZD. At least you have some additions to spares box.
What a shame! but it happens. It was look really good at the time.
It's been my favorite build to date. It was devastating at the time. So much prep for nmf
Oh nooooo... ahahahaha
That's an unfortunate turn of events. Glad you've got a P-38 to make it up, lol. Hope your daughter learned a lesson, glad you kept your cool.
Yeah in the big picture it's not worth it. I still remember my dad busting the wings off my favorite toy plane when I was five because I kicked his stereo door.
@@TheModelGuy keep in mind, I'm still a teenager, but I remember when I was like 4, I was playing with some toy cars, and my dad threw them all away. I had like 50 hot wheels, and they were gone in an instant. Fun times.
Just saw the video, and my jaw fell to the floor and my heart broke into as many fragments as the Mig. Kids are wonderful until something like this happens then they are the evil incarnate. Hard lesson for you to learn, never trust a mad munchkin around the hobby.
Where did you get the airplane stand
That's a small cardboard box I had from paints
Big ooooooof! Kids brings a lot of joy, but sometimes..😹 but have to say that this Mig looks gorgeous!
It looks like it lost a fight with a phantom
Maybe it won. You didn’t see the Phantom...
This build was still a success. Now it’s just a Godzilla Junior Attacks Warsaw diorama.
A case of friendly fire. SAMs can do that!
Hi Robby I’m very sorry about what happened there
Your daughter needs to learn how much work goes into modelling.
She knows, she can be spiteful though
@@TheModelGuy thats a yikes. Maybe keep the door locked until she is old enough maybe.
@@paperitgel98 No door on the room and there's never been reason to.
Nooo & she was looking very nice what a shame
noo..!😓
What a bad mess the model got shattered
That'll buff out...
Agree with the others, you should lock the door to your work area!
It doesn't have a door haha. Their downstairs playground is around the corner. Just a curtain
Brought down by enemy action
Ah man...I have to say Guilty!! Wait, Do you have a dog or cat that is jealous of your hobby?? Keep em coming my friend!
She's five, in a few years you'll show her this and laugh about it together. T'was a beautiful paint job tho.
It wasn't me daddy , I would never do such a thing. 👼
Next up, Mig21 crash diorama.
🙄🙄🙄🙄 It's OK happen all the times with the kids they think that is a toy and try to play with it BTW nice story video mate and don't tell nothing about it to your daughter 😬😬😬
Oh no!!! Ouch! Well at least it was a Russian MiG that crashed and burned 🔥 😉
That's what happens when you don't use the recommended psi
Morale of the story: Keep your models out of reach... Of anyone and anybody.
They've been in her reach for three years. This was a one off
No matter their age...Hell hath no fury!!😉
Battle damage? :) I wonder how you say "You should see the other guy." in Russian?
I hope you at least let her know how dissapointed you were.
In this case, it is said that in Korea, they were attacked by Godzilla.
It was the cat.
Yup definitely, the cat did it.
I pressed on like, but i am sad...
Can't you show your skills and teach us how you can repair the crash landing?
I don't have those skills. That's a Plasmo or NightShift thing.
Im doing this most of my time...though I couldn’t get myself to make videos of that yet.
Kid breaks model. Sounds like a good excuse to the wife to justify buying more models.
There are a number of mig aircraft jets Russian air force

No offense man. But this is just another reason for me to not procreate. :P
Also: Never ask me about advise on how to raise your children. My ideas might be easily 500 years out of date :D
...and in that, you might be very well sophisticated compared to me...
Wow first 😎
Um ya , my daughter would be in trouble you have no proof, but ya you know what happened. My daughter would be in so much trouble it's not funny
...and now the world knows your daughter for negative reasons... Taking the blame for not securing something, fine. Pointing the finger, not classy or fatherly... Sorry, nil points from me. 👎
Why would I take the blame? My parenting style is the kids are responsible for their own actions. I've been leaving my model stuff out since she was two. She has two older brothers as well who she's seen model behavior of leaving certain things alone.
She was having a tantrum, this was her outlet being mad at me. I doubt it will happen again.
Awww, the poor kid. You touched my heart
