I don't bother to treat for powdery mildew anymore, Ivan. It only flourishes on old leaves that are past their best at photosynthesizing, never on young leaves. I just take these leaves off, problem gone, and new growth is encouraged. It very seldom affects the plant or its fruits.

@growliveandshare.NEengland001 No, don't get me wrong, I totally agree with Ivan too but when I did my horticulture diploma they showed me that it really does not matter with powdery mildew (on cucurbits) and most people only treat the plants for cosmetic and vanity reasons. The suppressed and chlorotic growth of the older leaves is a trigger for the plant to produce new leaves so it is almost self-regulating. I have used milk and bicarb to good effect and also SB Plant Invigorator. I still use SBPI occasionally but only for other problems with mildew control as a side effect.
Totally different story with downy mildew though LOL

Hi Ivan we've been following your channel for a couple of months now and you've helped us a lot with your information and tips for growing vegetables.its our first attempt at growing vegetables this year and we've had 3 havests of potatoes and radishes and mange toute and peas we've got lots of tomatoes ready to ripen and a hanging basket full of mini tomatoes that are ripening we've used your advice and are using lots of containers to grow these in and love your videos. Ray retired to help look after me as I have a few problems and he's gone from being a hobby gardener to being an absolute fanatic for container gardener. Thanks and keep your videos coming we can't get enough of them , Ray and Sue Lee-Adams

I had no idea there were two kinds of mildew. I have two this year on yellow zucchini and they just keep growing leaves that die. I seen it before I planted out of its pots, so will just get rid of them now.

Thanks Ivan, just noticed this on some of my courgettes. They are very close together due to my limited space so I did cut the bad leaves off, it’s been so wet down here but also so warm so ideal conditions for flipping mildew! However, I’ve cleared the bad ones and opened up the base of the plants again, been doing this so much as they have grown like fury with this warm, moist weather. We had yellow courgettes with dinner yesterday and I sliced some beautiful del toro peppers today and froze them. My freezer is doing well, as is my tummy, from the garden. Thanks again, going to do the milk spray on them tomorrow, all of them just in case. Stay safe x

Sweet cherry pie lvan can you show me pics? I've got big leaves on my butternut squashes, but the leaves have got white powder on them. It's on the top part of their veins. I haven't looked underneath 🍒😁
