I had huge problems with mildew this year. My zucchine got decimated no matter what I was doing to stop it. Between mildew and heavy storms we have experienced I could not keep up Yesterday just lost a cucumber plant due to mildew or some sorbet of fungi and spraying it did not help either. Now I have 2 cucumber plant left and they are getting infected with mildew, will try this mix you are using. Than I can only hope for the best. 🙏
Great video! Thanks for the recipe! I was super nervous to use neem oil until I watched an organic gardener do it. Knowing how much you hate chemicals too makes me even more at ease. ☺️
Would love to have seen some of the pruning process though too. I’m a nervous pruner because I don’t want to kill the plant or lose production. Still trying to learn the ins and outs of that skill.

Think I have the pruning process down it's just not paying attention and all of sudden you've cut half your cucumber plant to the ground :( lol

Battling this right now...Thank you for the tips....I sprayed 1 to 1 hydrogen peroxide to water and it seemed to slow the powdery mildew down & 1/4 to 3/4 for pouring on the roots for the downy - didn't notice a difference but I only did it once...I am getting down to stems 4 feet down on alot of my plants - cucumbers are still growing seemingly unphased but I did replant close by new transplants grown from seed and the same downy/powdery mildew happened to them as well....discouraging but learning lesson nonetheless - Thanks Mark

I use Neem Oil if, like you, my plants are young and still producing. If Neem doesn't do the trick, I upgrade to Mancozeb, which is naturally occurring copper and approved for organic gardening. It does the trick every time 😁 Great video! I'm really enjoying your videos.

I've never been in your neck of the woods, but it is horribly humid here as well. A very hot/humid summer for the most part so far. Guy, don't forget to spray a test area a day ahead to make sure it doesn't cause any issues. Also, spray in the early am as well when you spray the entire plants. My experience is that bush cucumbers get mildew fast and this is in California. I think it's due to genetics and the structure of the plant. Japanese cucumbers like Tasty Green and Suyo seem less prone to mildew (not resistant) because I think the spacing of the leaves allow for more air flow. I've never had very good success with spraying and I've tried everything. The best control, in my opinion, is pruning as soon as you see disease. When I had the space, I replanted cucumbers every 4 weeks.

I used a diluted milk and water solution on a pumpkin plant that already had powdery mildew on it when I planted it out. I pruned the most affected leaves and sprayed the rest of the plant. It was like 50/50 milk to water and it stopped the mildew dead in its tracks. I used it again as a preventative when I planted out my own pumpkins and they are doing really well with no mildew. I also poured the excess solution around the roots. Don't know if this would work for downy mildew but it sure does great on the powdery variety - I always get it.

DAMN!!!! I just lost my entire pickle crop a whole month early due to this very issue!! I swear, one day it is fine with just a spot here and there and within 7 days the entire freaking trellis had it!!! I am so kicking myself in the butt for NOT proactively doing what you are telling us here. And what makes me so damn mad is that I KNEW BETTER that i had to apply fungicide and only did it once haphazardly. UUUGGGHHHHH

Thank you for this video, i have had the same if not worse in my cucumbers also in zucchinis and in tomatoes too, i just usually take of the infected leaf/ branches and hope it gets better and sometimes it does, but i will try this method in the next season planting so thank you again.
Yesterday i did a lot of pruning and cleaning up as the season is almost over here and the weather will start to warm up very soon now, this week our temperatures is on the rise and will be hinting the 70 degree's two day this week which is very early for us, but in Australia you can get a very cold winter or a warm winter every year is different.

I use Biosafe Zeroltol or sanidate for all fungal and blight issues. It’s a special peroxide formula. Works incredible on my watermelon plants. We run sanidate through center pivot irrigation to fight blight and mold on kidney beans and soybeans.

I didn't think of adding the dish detergent as a surfactant when spraying for powdery mildew, though I have done that when spraying herbicide on poison ivy. Another great video!

Good afternoon Mark,another lovely day but the nights are still very muggie.lm having problems with cucumbers this year and many others.lm putting it down to high humidity,even though lve kept the plants well trimmed for air flow.We tend to use the same solution as you have in this video and seems to work very well...thank Goodness.l also grow the pickling varieties there 👍 great and grow Dill which l absolutely love with cucumbers and they keep for months,the longer the better 😋 llm really looking forward to seeing cook/pickling and exchange recipes.Bet your mother has some fantastic recipes,l love sweetcorn and looking for a good original relish/pickling recipe.l have not taken any photos yet as it's been touch and go this growing season.Oh what the heck 😒 Mark another video has just came in a 75lb rat,must check this out now.All the very best 🌱🌱🌱💕🇬🇧

We have had some muggie nights here too. Thank god for air-conditioning! I'm glad to hear you have had good luck with the neem oil solution. Another viewer told me when neem oil doesn't work try Mancozeb a copper based product approved for organic gardening and he said that works every time which is good to hear. I'm going to experiment with that also. I love dill with the cucumbers too. I make a cold salad with cucumbers, dill and onions.
Do you do dill pickles? If so, would you share your recipe with me?

That's typical of peonies and of course, the downside of raising them. I really think peonies are incredible, but always plant them in an area that isn't someplace I have to look at them all summer when they don't look to good. Thanks for watching/commenting!

Looks like the roots of the vines are close to the raised bed lumber. What type of lumber are you using? Pine, Fir, pressure treated?

Mark, this spurs the next question...... should I take that same Neem oil mixture (just like you made up) and start spraying my tomatoes and peppers NOW before I see any blight? If so, how often should I spray them? i suppose it is okay that the fruit gets wet with the solution?? and finally, will this solution kill the bees???

This is all new to me also, so I hate to give you advice that may be incorrect. I'm going to do some experimentation and see now it works. Read some of the comments also as to what they have had success with. I am going to experiment with that as well. If you experiment as well, let me know how your results were if you would.

Once again Mark, thanks for the tips! Mark I found these red bugs all over my lilies which were eaten up, they look at first like lady bugs, but they were slightly elongated and perhaps a tinge oranger, any ideas.

I believe you have lily leaf beetle. It's the larvae that do the damage; they will completely decimate your lilies. Disgusting larvae cover themselves with excrement 🤨 Google lily leaf beetle

Neat video. I'm dealing with POWDERY mildew here. We too are very humid. My bee balm gets it first. Then my coneflowers and similar vegetation. Haven't noticed it on my actual crops yet, since I really scaled back this year and am not growing any squash. Those usually get hammered hard by it as well.
Do you have a recommendation for the POWDERY mildew?

Thank you! Bee Balm is always problematic with powdery mildew. One of my comments suggested a copper based compound approved for organic gardening called Mancozeb. You may want to research that. He said it worked every time.
