- This is our bumper Christmas gift opening special, when we sit together by the Christmas tree. We received so many beautiful gifts, that I've had to split this video into two parts! Today's thoughtful presents include adorable woodland animals, a glorious lamp, Meissen porcelain and vintage silk...
In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to open beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month. CZcams earnings fluctuate wildly each month, as ad revenue changes throughout the year. Here are the charities that we've donated to so far:
July 2020:
British Heart Foundation UK (in memory of my father) €634
August 2020:
Alzheimer's Research UK (in memory of all of the residents of my parents' nursing homes) €350
September 2020:
Prostate Cancer Foundation (in memory of Selmar's father) €1255
October 2020:
Medecins sans Frontieres (chosen by my mother to support vaccinations in Africa) €942 (equivalent to 426 cholera vaccinations)
I used to show the gifts as part of 'The Chateau Diaries' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖

I can't believe how much I have missed seeing you all every day. As Karen Allen said, we have been spoiled. It is good to know that 2020 was actually a good year for some people, these blogs have been the 'silver lining' for so many, me included. Excited to see what changes 2021 brings to Lalande.
Yeah, I discovered this vlog just recently, enjoyed every eposide, such sunny person Stephanie, love her style of presenting, love what and HOW she does, love her Mom and all the friends that are involved . It´s very inspiring!

That lamp is absolutely superb! I gasp when I saw the lampshade! What a piece of art! I love seeing the different treats and food from all over the word, especially the Norway box that was super intriguing! And the dress, the tree ornaments, and the woodland animals, all of it! Der Stephanie and all Lalander's: I love you all and was so happy to see a new video up just now! I have missed my Chateau Diaries fix the last few days. It was especially exciting to see the fabulous 18th Century Dressmaking book so kindly sent by another one of your adoring Patrons. Dear Stephanie, as I have occupied myself with sewing, embroidery and interior decor/holiday embellishment of my own home while every day through Covid, but especially during Advent, I find myself daydreaming of waking up vaccinated and a ticket to France under my pillow! Maybe it can happen before too far into 2021 that I can travel to visit you all! I would especially love to assist you in sewing any gown concept you have , along with coordinating cushions etc. as I am a couture level seamstress, and ran a custom drapery business for many years. Thank you for being you. It is so obvious how true you are to Lalande as well as yourself. You are a dear soul! Much love!

Things are meant to be used not hidden away until a special event. Nothing is more special than time with friends & family so use your finest china, wear your best clothes, drink the good wine because those objects are nothing but items used to create memories for the ones you leave behind. I love that Stephanie wears the dresses and sets the tables and sits on all the furniture she understands that's the only way to give objects life and life meaning.
i know that house in Saint Andrews...it used to be owned by our family friends the Findlays...it was designed by a very famous Canadian architect named Maxwell.

Great idea! My local grocery store had some beautiful birdbaths last Spring made from thick glass and came with a metal stand. The glass was coloured and swirly, do you know what I mean? The glass was a gently concave bowl shape about 16 inches in diameter. I didn’t buy one then but if I see them again I am definitely getting one. (Now I’m not thinking of sending one overseas but I’m just agreeing with you that something like it would make a beautiful gift for Mummy.)

Makes me so excited that you received a package from Saint Andrews...a town an hour away from where I live (and where I was born and raised.) This town has a very specical space in my heart and is very meaningful to me. And it is simply gorgeous - coined, Saint Andrews by the sea. As it is right on the ocean. The NY Times has written pieces about this coastal gem and it was voted the best place to visit in Canada. Made me excited to see! Cheers and Happy New Year x
I stayed overnight there about 5 yrs ago in a B&B (can't remember the name just now) while traveling up to Prince Edward Island. Had planned a dinner and walk around but a delay at the border had my friends and I about three hours too late. I would definitely love to travel through there again and actually see everything in daylight. The B&B was very old and beautiful.
I was reading this and thought you meant ,Saint Andrews! As in Scotland! I forget America and Australia are full of places with duplicate names! My son studied at Saint Andrew's University.(Scotland).

So good to see you all again! You know, I'm thinking LeLande would benefit from a dedicated sewing room! I remember seeing you working on both curtains and a period dress and having to faff around with it in different rooms of the house. It'd be much easier to tackle the large projects if you could leave them somewhere undisturbed if you get interrupted mid-making. Also, that lamp is STUNNING!

I got my first ever tin of Quality Street chocolates for Christmas. I bought them. Never had them before. I LOVE THEM. Their boxes of truffles are very good as well. I got two boxes of their truffles.

I am happy that everyone took some time off. They put on one hell of a show this holiday season!! I hope Kat is safe with her family and that Stephanie is recovered from infection. Christmas and antibiotics is a most unpleasant combination. That being said, I can hardly wait for the show to start!!

What wonderful memories you will have decorating the tree 🎄 in years to come. Takes me quite a while to to decorate with about 1200 ornaments (baubles). I buy ornaments to remind me of friends and also gifted many. Treasure them.

Such fun! But, one of my childhood nightmares was being served and expected to eat and enjoy brown Norwegian cheese. This was served by the hands of my best friend's Norwegian mother. I absolutely loved everything else she made such as homemade donuts with cardamon and crepes with marmalade or cinnamon and brown sugar, BUT, that brown cheese has seriously got to be an acquired taste which didn't happen for me. Glad you love it Marie!
It is a cheese originaly made out of goat milk and called goatcheese =geitost. It is sweet and caramelish flavor. It is often eaten with knekkebrød = a hard dry bread/cracker. You need a chees cutter/slicer to get it thin enough. We love the cheese here in Norway. Lucky Marie Wiik 😇

There are many domestic animals in animal refuges needing treatment, food and homes and these organisations rely on donations to keep caring a large amount of animals. Those pumpkins grow reallllly huge! So huge we carve them out and use them as boats. No kidding! We have a festival where we try to paddle them across a body of water. We actually get in them, they grow that big!
