    I just got a 2022 in red, man what a sweet car. Here’s my story,I’m gettin around 300 miles on my car before fueling it again in Sunnyvale near my company to make the trip back home to Tracy. My 2003 Camry that I drove for almost 20yrs everyday finally kicked the bucket after 335,000 miles and was costing me to gas up every three days at Costco was 85$. So I took the risk and got this car and I like it better then any Tesla. Now a plug in ev for someone like my self would be better for home charging but fueling up in 5min just can’t be beat.

    I almost bought one because they were so cheap used and you got a 15,000 dollar fuel card but decided not to since there was only one station in San Diego County where I live😂Decided to buy a used Leaf instead. I do hope they build more stations though. Cool technology.

    I know i am late to comment but i do not see what use this car has for anyone. $67 to travel 200-230 miles is super terrible. No wonder why they gave away 3 years of hydrogen. Noone would buy it other wise. Electric is the future for sure. Hybrid for a few years yet . Then all electric. Toyota venza , rav4 hybrid , sienna for the win . All hybrid . Ordered a 2022 sienna . Would get a tesla model y but a 7 seater is $62,000 vs $43,500 for one we ordered. Tesla not worth it at that crazy price

      Listen my Asian brother. I’m Asian too and I can tell you Electric cars are JS! Total 💩 Electric cars take 2-4 hours to charge. Even if you have a Tesla supercharger 1 hour to charge. Lithium battery lasts only 8 years not 10 years and maybe less, depending if you have a lot of tablets and smart phones using it. Trade in value is just horrible. Tesla has so many safety feature problem like rear door handle won’t open. Bluetooth and smart phone sync issue, too many button push for A/C or even to turn on your wiper blades! It’s sad people that are spending on a car that feels like it’s made out of Legos, waiting to fall apart.
      Yes, it’s not right time to buy the Hydrogen Fuel Cell at this moment. However, in Cali it’s worth it. Mark my words Toyota and Hyundai are on the right path. Honda first came out their FCX Clarity in 2005 but was poorly marketed for leasing only! Just a stupid move they did and once their patent was up. Toyota came in with their own.
      This will dominate the market but you have to give it 8-10 years. Toyota Mirai uses a 1 watt battery but they can make it bigger to make the HP and torque a lot better and also can make the hydrogen tank even bigger. So there are more room for growth. Still, this will eventually destroy all electric, hybrid and gas vehicles.
      No transmission flush, no transmission fluid, no oil change, no engine flush, no engine oil, no engine check oil problems, no belt replacement and less maintenance, and cost less than gasoline. 🤔

    8:09 Do you plan on keeping it beyond the 3-year fuel card? If so, what’s the plan when the tanks expire in 9 years as printed on the fuel door “DO NOT REFUEL AFTER 2030/12”? Buying a used one these days is a pretty sweet deal with the fuel card, but after another 3 years, what would its resale value be when it only has 6 remaining years before needing the tanks and other components replaced? Your trip is pretty gutsy given the current status of stations. I just checked yesterday and 24 of the 44 were either out of hydrogen or down. Only 13 aren't available now at h2-ca.com/region?id=0 Have you gotten the nozzle frozen to the car yet?

    • @DennisCW
      @DennisCW  Před 3 lety +3

      Nope! We plan to sell it once the fuel card runs out - it seems like we could get maybe $3-5k lol
      Didn’t know about the tank expiring wow
      Yeah - I’ve had the nozzle frozen , scary scary
      What are you going to do with yours?

    • @TheHailstorm77
      @TheHailstorm77 Před 2 lety +5

      Um ok. Let’s do the Math. So by 9 years that’s if you keep it which most drivers don’t keep vehicles that long. Toyota replaces the Hydrogen tank because it expired and that’s it. Anything else? It’s more cheaper than replacing a $10,000 lithium battery by Tesla than a hydrogen tank by Toyota. So who wins?

    • @DennisCW
      @DennisCW  Před 2 lety +1

      Toyota wins

    • @scottkolaya2110
      @scottkolaya2110 Před 2 lety +1

      @@TheHailstorm77 I'm guessing by that statement you haven't priced out how much replacing all the hydrogen tanks would cost. ... Last I looked, they were four grand a piece if you're using today's prices for both. Then you have the Platinum that wears away in the fuel cell and makes it unusable,' and all the pumps and filters and compressors that are all part of the system to make hydrogen into electric. I'm sure we'll see in 10 years who wins, but with all the complexity of the hydrogen system I wouldn't bet the farm on that. Then of course if you're assuming the lithium ion battery would die in a Tesla, it would certainly also die in the Mirai since it's cycled much more frequently and what does that cost in addition to all the other components?

    • @TheHailstorm77
      @TheHailstorm77 Před 2 lety +2

      @@scottkolaya2110 Well, let’s be honest he bought a 2016 model and that only goes 200 miles without refueling. You know they have a 2021 model that goes 400 miles without refueling right? This guy is mainly a Tesla fan you can tell. A piece of junk Lego car model that has so many. I mean so many problems. It’s like they had a 12 year old design their vehicles without thinking of the safety and reliability issue. Ford had this problem for 40 years and they finally decide to wake up. The new 2021 Mirai Hydrogen Fuel tank is made of carbon fiber. So you say $2,000 to replace in 9 years right? Would you rather spend $10,000 or hell more depending on model on battery than few thousand? Toyota is well known built to last. I’m currently driving 2016 Hylander XLE 143k and zero! Zero problems! Nothing breaks inside or door panel or door handle problems like Tesla! Hydrogen will take over I read the Road and Track Magazine in 1988 in middle school on Honda’s concept car for Hydrogen and look where we are now! Honda FCX Clarity launched in 2005, now Toyota Mirai and Hyundai has their own.

    What's the big deal? I drove my 2018 Mirai from Santa Clara to Santa Monica and back twice (Nov 2018 and Nov 2019), and to Reno and back once (May 2019). If cafcp.org says that there is H2 at Harris Ranch (Truckee resp.), it's a breeze.

    • @leobrouk
      @leobrouk Před 3 lety +4

      @@DennisCW Google maps consulted in advance and a call to Mirai support helped. During the first two trips I had no fear of H2 shortage, as I've been told that the "middle of nowhere" stations are supplied on a priority basis. When I was driving from LA the first time, after going uphill at a high speed, I had to moderate my speed a little (say, 70-75 instead of 80-85); I've arrived at Harris Ranch with 13 miles remaining on the odometer (in reality, close to 30-40, I guess). The second time was similar to your experience. The 2019 summer shortage was local to the Bay Area and was resolved by the Fall, so I had no qualms then either.

    terrible experiences to add hydrogen, the hydrogen stations around me (usually 10 miles away) has been always down, one has been down for 4 months. The other I waited 30 min today without hydrogen or station error. The hydrogen price is twice or even triple the price of gas.
