Republicans Warn Of Weak Indo-Pacific Bases, Say 90% Of US Aircraft Could Be “Immobilised On Ground”

- In a letter dated May 8, US lawmakers raised serious alarms regarding the vulnerability of US military bases in the Indo-Pacific region. Lawmakers warned that recent war games analysis suggested the US could lose up to 90% of its aircraft in a potential conflict with China. Moreover, the loss of 90% of US aircraft could come on the ground, as opposed to in aerial engagements, according to US lawmakers. This risk was attributed mainly to inadequate hardened aircraft shelters and insufficient base protection measures. In their letter, Republican lawmakers noted the critical need for immediate action to address the glaring deficiencies in base security.

Carriers are highly mobile which makes them hard to target. They also have a lot of support ships for antimissile and aircraft attacks. All soon to be enhanced by laser weapons. These will also be deployed at airfields.
Note 300kw lasers are nearly ready and 500kw is on the way. These can take down missiles in fractions of a second.

Hypersonic missiles are extremely difficult to shoot down. They will be attacked with sea drones, torpedoes and electronic warfare as well.
@@Tekton177 ah but you see hypersonics do not move a huge distance from its target and its muneverability is very limited as most missiles. the carriers just gonna turn and a hypersonic will need to make real time changes. sea drones wont damage them because their structure is too strong for any drones today. torpedoes sure but like Omega said they are surrounded by a literal strike group. getting a torpedo wedged in is too risky and likely to be countered and the submarine would just be chased and downed from vessels there made to attack them. its a strike group not a fishing boat fleet static in the field. china teasing hypersonics is only bad for mostly land bases or deployed in large scale numbers. something unlikely from how low production and limited amount they have.

There should be effective early warning and dispersing measure to reduce damage from such massive attack.
