I hate when parents who don't take care of the kids want custody just because it'll hurt their ego not to have them.
i think less of hurt their ego, but more of their image. its gotta be hard getting another spouse in what im assuming to be a small town after a sour divource, but fighting for splut custody makes u look a bit better than just not caring

I think it's more that they either 1) don't want to pay child support, or at least have to pay less child support, or even get awarded child support themselves, or 2) want to hurt their spouse by taking their kids away.

Hurts their ego and their bank accounts. There are a lot of benefits offered to single parents.
I don’t think people realize that Amy has postpartum depression. It’s really sad to see her family. Tell her to quit being a “bawl bag” postpartum depression can last two or more years. She said “oh, it can’t be postpartum” in one of the episodes because her baby was eight months! YES IT CAN AMY! it’s a shame that her family is so blind to it

It's sad ppl don't realize he's lazy cuz he's soo depressed he's married to a sloppy human mashed potato who doesn't do the things needed to improve herself. And while she wallows around with one excuse after another life is passing by

Yeap. It's sad to see ANYONE be shamed for crying or showing emotion, regardless of how frequent it is. That's our way of saying we need help and the first step in getting help is realizing you need it either from your own introspection, family, etc. I hope she is able to get help.

I am SO PROUD of Tammy. She is a completely different person. The physical weight loss wasn't even the hardest part. It's all that therapy she must have REALLY worked through. I honestly thought she would always be miserable. But I am so so proud of her.
I really am ashamed to say I agree, I too, had doubts that she was going to change. Though holy cow, talk about full body transformation inside and out! I feel so happy for her

He was keeping her debit card from her and monitoring everything that she bought. He wouldn’t let her go shopping without him. Even though it was her money Michael was not letting her spend it without his permission. He was abusive. Any did the right thing in divorcing him.

Amy had severe Postpartum Depression. It was heartbreaking seeing her struggle. Amanda and Tammy were huge supporters to Amy. It’s nice seeing how Amy is now.
Michael was abusive to Amy. He was extremely controlling. She wasn’t allowed to go to the store or spend her money. He even kept her debit card from her. He probably only wanted 50/50 custody of the kids to get back at Amy for leaving him and to try to keep some control over Amy and the kids since it’s known he never took care of the kids. I hope Amy is in therapy to help her work through everything that happened and the stress of being a single parent.
Exactly, “I’ll let you go but only if you come back” what? Amy is a grown woman, she has a right to leave and has a right to her belongings without being threatened.
It warmed my heart when she described how she knows how her kids like their baths and what the right soap to water ratio is. It shows she truly pays attention to her kids and really loves them
I'm really proud of Tammy. She's come so far and is doing so much better. It takes time, and I hope TLC stops taking advantage of them (as entertaining as they are). I hope she and Amy can both continue to feel better and experience a happier life.

Tammy HAS made amazing progress, and Amy has too! I really hope that they get free of TLC and I think both Amy and Tammy could really make a name for themselves on CZcams if they wanted to. I would absolutely subscribe to them if they even just made a reaction channel. Not much effort, but they would be the anti-CinnamonToastKen, and that's enough for me to subscribe.

Food addiciton is a really tough thing to deal with. unlike other addcitons, you can't just quit eating. Then you get into the cycle of eating bad to feel better for that little bit, and then you feel terrible after, but the next time, you don't remember that terrible feeling, you remember the wonderful pure content that comes with the way the food seems to say "i love you" as you consume it, and then you feel even more disgusting because you ate gross food AND gave into your gluttony, so then you feel worse, so then you need to eat that food again to make that pain go a way for a while. The difficult trick is to cut out the trigger foods: fast food, fried food, cheese for some people, candy, etc. if you can go a while, it gets easier, but it's an ongoing fight.
No one ever tells people to just "stop eating" obviously you need to eat to live.

I wish more people understood that food addiction is a legit issue and "stop eating" isn't necessarily the answer

The key is to start eating low calorie foods that are filling. Avoid high calorie foods that leave you starving. Also, avoid added sugars and eat more fruit. It’s really easy to not be fat. Once you start eating right it’ll all fall into place and feel effortless. I’m always eating, but I don’t get fat. It’s because of what I eat.

I personally think the fame has simultaneously helped them while hurting them all together. They have obviously been helped by getting so many tips and suggestions from countless ppl they otherwise would have never met or heard otherwise but that goes the same way towards the bad side, they have received unnecessary hate and harmful comments they otherwise would have never seen or heard had it not been for the show or fame.

The fact thay Tammy lost nearly 500!!!! pounds is absolutely incredible, astounding, and inspiring! If i could capitalize numbers i would. Tammy and Amy are inspiring in more ways than just weight-loss in my opinion. Their fight for their lives is enough and probably what keeps people interested. Anyone can find the drama, albeit interesting, anywhere else.

I loved watching them at first and then it got hard and now i love it again. I think Tammy hit that point where she cared that she would die if she didn't change. It's crazy that i can't even recognize Tammy in the beginning because I've seen her so much now.

TLC is a nightmare when it comes to taking advantage of people like this. I'd definitely say they are healthier than they were at least. They've been suffering for a long time so the work they've put into improving themselves is amazing. They've probably had one of the happier stories compared to some of the other people TLC milked for content.
I used to watch these girls cause it was like a train wreck i was unable to look away but i have truly come to like these ladies. I am super proud of Tammy she has really turned her life around. Keep going ladies 🤘
Tammy wasn't just in a wheelchair or just on oxygen, she was on a vent!! A machine had to breathe for her because she was literally incapable of doing it on her own. She was at the end stage of her obesity.
The fact that she's not only alive but doing so well truly can't be understated.

Staying together for the kids is almost always a bad idea. Kids are gonna have more trauma growing up in an unhappy home where their parents hate each other than from having parents who are happy and stable but divorced.
Hearing you joking and carrying on was okay but the sincerity you showed about the loss of her husband was very moving.
I cant imagine how difficult Amy has it, I had one child at age 19, and the dad wasnt the best, he has since become a better father, but its been 26 years! Anyways, I knew I was going to be a single mom, I prepared myself for it, even though my sons dad was around he never put anything into being a dad other than an occasional weekend. I think her family should take the boys every other weekend and give Amy some time for herself that she can look forward to during the tough weeks. She needs help.
Unfortunately, people enjoy making babies. Raising a child is another story. I do understand what you mean by preparing to be a single mom. My daughter will be 26 in May, and I raised her myself. I left him when she was 5 months old. He only took her a handful of times. I used to wish for a break but stopped because he was just not capable of caring for himself, let alone a child.
