- Is your SanDisk memory card real or fake? Fake memory cards are flooding the market and they are looking more and more real. Watch this video for hints and tips to see if you can idenfiy fake cards from genuine cards.
The BEST WAY to test and rule out fake cards is to use free benchmarking software. The one I used in the video, CrystalDiskMark, is a very popular and reliable way to test all types of data storage including external drives, internal drives, thumb drives, SSDs, computer RAMs, SD cards and CF cards. When you run a speed test, make sure you compare your test numbers to the benchmarks of the genuine cards out there by searching for your card model. The numbers included in this video was for SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO UHS-I V30 SDHC card so the speed comprison only works for the same model (same model, different capacity is OK as that doesn't really affect the read/write speed). There are many different types of cards with different speeds so be sure to compare the right numbers.
Thank you for this. We just bought 3 of the fake cards for work. We had a big event and I needed to film everything and the cards failed on me. Incredibly uncomfortable situation. I learned that I needed to format the cards so I did and I thought that everything would be fine. At first it was but yesterday when I was filming an interview they failed again. i bought my 512 GB Extreme Pro 170mb/s on Ebay from a Random seller with nice review few hundred 5* rating. The thing is he was selling it for 60$ less than the one in Amazon NEW. I took the chance and luckily it was a legit card ( has a serial number, grey lock tab, has Rescu Pro coupon code and is in a Box like the one in the video). I'm using it to capture 2.8k RAW Videos on my EOS M and it works has it should.
Hey there. You just saved me $2! A local store sells the contents of Amazon pallets they purchase in liquidation sales, and they had tons of these cards for $1. I noticed the "Card Roader" spelling error you mentioned, so I left the cards where they were. I went back 10 minutes later and they were all gone. So yay, thank you.

Hi, first of all thanks for the video. I just bought a 128 extreme pro from SanDisk U3, i made the test u did with the same software, so i dont get something.
In the first line was: Read 171.50 - Write 154.04...
Second line was: Read 195.75 - Write 172.91...
Third Line: Read 1.22 - Write: 1.29....
and in the last line was: Read 0.58 - Write 1.03,
so comparing with your video i see the firs to lines were good, but in the last 2 i have lower than you, thats ok?

There are so many fakes of this card around. I got the one with the yellow tab. Write operation does not even gets to 5 MB/s. Mofos! At least I can returned them easily. Bought a Lexar and a Kingston at Amazon instead.

I bought a 128GB Sandisk Extreme Pro. But it only has 119 GB. I tested it on H2testw v1.4 and it indicated that it is not fake. Is 119 GB for a 128 card normal?

Yes, that's perfectly fine. Manufacturers calculate 1GB to be 1000MB when it's actually 1GB = 1,073,741,824 (2^30) B, which is how a computer calculates. So if you divide 128GB by 1.07 374... you get 119~GB which is what you're seeing.
@@donaldduck8079 A question: does the sd card reader influence the test result by CrystalDisk? My card has these numbers: Read: 28.69 Write: 26.41 ... my reader is an old Multilaser.
@@rafael_daguerre It shouldn't as long as it's connected via fast enough connection (USB3, USB-C, etc.) Even USB 2 should be good up to 60MBs. Your speed seems awfully low. If you bought yours from ebay for cheap, it's most likely fake. Even Amazon sells fake stuff all the time.
