    Robert, thank you for answering my questions and sharing it on video. I was aw stricken When you mentioned my name. Lol. I felt like I was somebody important. Buddy you answered my questions thoroughly and I want to thank you for doing so!! Candida is what we need to be concerned of and not so much the temperature if it is in the higher 90s. It's Important to disinfectant the feeding utensils. You are very thorough and you are my go to man when I need questions answered about birds. Thank you for being there. God bless you and your family in all that you do for him. Love you guys.

      Oh wow I don't know why I haven't seen these comments from two years ago. I'm so sorry for not responding.
      Yes. You got it. Temperatures too high are just as bad as temperatures too low....possibly worse.

    my 14 days cockatiel is having sour crop , its not emptying its crop and also has beer smell coming from its mouth , i am giving it antibiotics and digene but nothing is helping , i didnt use antifungal medicines , please suggest me one and its dosage , can i use a syringe and a tube and pull out all the contents of the crop ? is it safe to do so ? its been three days , i m scared he may not survive ..

      Yes. You can empty and rinse the crop if you feel confident in your skills. Papaya puree will help a lot.

      Did your bird survived? My 3 week old tiel is also not emptying it's crop for 2 days now so I tried to empty it's crop via syringe and rinsed it with warm water then fed him when it started to ask for food now I'm gonna leave it all night and see if it will empty it's crop overnight what should I do???

      Buy a medicine of this composition "Alpha -amylase 50mg + Papain 6mg + Cinnamon oil 0.2mg + Cardamom oil 0.4mg + Caraway oil 0.4mg + Dill oil 0.05ml + Fennel oil 0.0035ml/ 5ml" in our country the name is zymopet , 2 drops with banana or hand feeding formula ,my doctor gave this for my bird . now if i get any doubts about bacterial infection i give tetracycline hydrochloride in low doses which is meant for veternary use , for cows , goats and poultry chickens ..

    #askdaybird Hello! My budgies had babies for the first time, and tomorrow my oldest turns 4 weeks old. The second baby was born two days later and is much smaller. Today I made some oatmeal on the stove and let it cool- I offer it to Segundo and it ate a small amount. After hearing about temperatures being too hot or cold I will not do this again. Do you think my poor baby is ok with doing this once? If not, how would I know? I will not do this again. Thank you for your input and God bless!

    #askdaybird I have two parakeets kiwi and blue. For a past couple of days, I am noticing a change in shape of the chest of blue. It is not very swollen on top but more like skinny and sucked in from bottom front of her chest. I’m taking her to a vet next week but what could be the cause? How could I help her?

    #askdaybird Hello Friend. We just acquired an English Parakeet. The vendor told us it was 20+ days. It was NOT hand fed.
    I don't know if that's true and I made an appointment with aviary Vet this afternoon.
    I just wanted to ask you, as an expert, a quick question: I noticed that the baby ate a few grains that I had given him ( the seller gave me a few ) that makes me think he might be older than 3 weeks.
    None the less I fed it each 3 hours with the formula ( also got a little from the vendor) as good as I could . The bird is clearly not use to it, but it went relatively fine. I let it sleep the night after feeding 11pm and fed it again at 7. my question is HOW DO I KNOW IF THE CROP IS FULL enough? Not being sure of the age I don;t want to give him too much /too little , but i don't knwo how that Crop is suppose to feel or even where it is exactly ( i imagine under the through like on my hens..) If you could give me some advise I'd be most grateful. Hugs Madie

    Which would you say is more important, (1) feeding on an empty crop or (2) feeding on a set schedule?

    • @DaybirdAviaries
      @DaybirdAviaries  Před 4 lety +2

      Definitely feeding on a set schedule. It's okay to "top up" the crop. Ideally, the crop would never fully empty during the day. But it is important to let it fully empty overnight just as a fail safe stop to start over with and to make sure he's digesting everything okay.
