    Independent/Unbiased unboxing and startup review of the Champion Power Equipment 200961 2500-Watt Dual Fuel Portable Inverter Generator. I fill it with oil, start it and run it on propane. This is similar to the 201122 and 1473080 which have USB ports. Also similar to the 200962 which has a black case. Similar to 201183. I bought this one at Amazon but Home Depot has the same one as well as other sites like Blaine's Farm and Fleet. This generator weighs 39 lbs and has a decibel rating of 53 decibels. I plan to use it camping in select areas or in rest areas. Champion did not pay for this video, they did not give a discount for this review.

    Thank you for the review. Right to the point. I like your trailer you customized. Did you build it your self?
    Is there a video of that or more pictures? I want to build one like that. Any info would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Have you noticed a slight propane smell around the engine compartment

      To tell you the truth I've only run mine once so far and that was to make the video. However, I did not notice a propane smell.

    Just got the champion dual fuel 2500 watt back in April of this year 2023. I have used it 6 times for about 3 hours a clip and have changed the oil twice. Starts for 3 seconds or so and shuts off. Never used fuel always just use the propane. I will check with champion but I don't think I would ever purchase another Champion product seems like its crap to me. Not impressed even though everyone rants and raves about them. You would think the product would last longer then 6 months.

      Try double checking the oil level. If there is too much oil, or too little, it may indeed cause this. You can temporarily disconnect the oil sensor to see if it is detecting, either correctly or falsely, a low or high oil condition. Just find the wire, usually a yellow wire and they'll be some connector that you can disconnect. If the generator starts and runs then it's either the sensor or the sensor stuck. If the sensor is stuck and you can get the generator running, sometimes you can get the generator sensor unstuck by letting the generator run for about 10 to 15 minutes. Be sure to reconnect your sensor to see if that fixed it.

      Thank you I called Champion and they are sending me some part to replace. Unfortunately the rep had a strong accent so I couldn't make out what he was saying. Maybe its that sensor. In the meanwhile I will try this hack you provided. This generator is essential to my solar as backup and when its running its lightweight and charges my solar very quickly on cloudy days I really do love it. That hack will also give me the ability to warm it up so I can drain the oil properly and start from scratch. Thank you!@@SwimmingintheDeep

      It could also be the propane regulator. It seems like that I may have read somewhere that they may have had a bad batch. Let us know how it goes!

      Did you figure this out?

    • @johnmal5975
      @johnmal5975 Před 6 měsíci

      Yup, I did. Champion sent me a carb and step motor but it was not that. However I noticed I could run it by manually doing the step motors job. So I asked them for a new control panel so they sent it and that was the problem. At the end of the day, I got a backup carb and step motor and learned a lot. As much as I wanted a new unit I am glad they did not send one because it forced me to learn how to fix some things and read a lot about how these generators work. As far as their customer service if you need to speak with them do it early in the morning other wise good luck. They do stand by there products more importantly. @@elmateo487

    Very, very difficult to start on propane

      Has yours been that way from day one? I still have not used mine much but it started very easily on Propane. I suggest you call Champion and see if they think you may have gotten a bad regulator or something.

      open the propane tank valve very slowly. If it's opened quick, it will be difficult to start as a quick flood of propane warps the regulator internals.

      @@mattmiller1843 First time running it I opened it slowly. As it turned out, it did indeed start right up. After first pulling the cord with it on choke a couple times and then as soon as I switched to propane one pull did it. Since then starts on one pull every time.
