AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage - only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on CZcams are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!
according to the manual you have to put the dial in the choke when you prime it with propane .... pull up to 5 times and then put it on run in order to start. The reason you had a hard time startining it was because you were trying to prime it with the dial on open propane .... but don't feel to bad ... I have a hard time starting it even going by the manual
Our Champion 2500 watt arrived today. After filling up the oil tank as recommended by the Champion user guide, I worked up a mild sweat starting the generator for the first time. Finally, success! Thanks for all your tutorials to make this all happen!
Ok. My wife is wondering why I have the giggles. Those stickers were genius. You have succeeded in providing useful info with sophomoric humor, the best kind. Makes me laugh and gets the wife doing eye rolls, hence a perfect world.
😂
This is, by far, the most comprehensive and entertaining review I've seen for this generator. It had every piece of information I could ask for. You even showed the exhaust port! I looked everywhere for an image of the exhaust port because I wanted to see how feasible it would be to pipe the exhaust out a window in the garage. Thank you, and keep up the great work!
Glad it was helpful! And I really appreciate your kind comments. 🙏 More generator reviews on the way!
Thats a great idea I never thought of that. Is it feasible to exhaust this?
The stickers made my day.
Thank the lawyers for all those.
Now I desire some smooth motor oil.
They did not disappoint.
Come to think of it, I wasn’t expecting that much entertainment so they overachieved.
Thats what sold me on it😂😂
$##¢@@rebellucy5610 ßaaa 0000=00=00==000 I'm
I'm not into RVing but I do like to be prepared for emergencies and this little generator looks Awsome. And love that it's duel fuel.
Hey Mr., it’s my shaft and I’ll lubricate it as much as I’d like thank you very much!!!!
Thanks for the review. We purchased it and just finished breaking in our new generator just in time for Hurricane Henri. Bought it for camping though.
Thanks for the video! Linked up to your Amazon Shop and purchased this generator Saturday. I figured my upper body needed a good workout!
We just bought this generator and finished break in hours. Probably going to buy a 2nd unit with the pairing module IF we need to run one of our ACs. With propane, talked to Champion support and they confirmed that you must offset the dial slightly from propane run, especially on initial several starts. It’s a known issue.
Glad I watched this. I was debating about whether to get this generator and a soft start or the 4500 watt version. Mine AC is 15,000 BTU so it is kind of a no brainer since the Champion 2500 wouldn't adequately power your 13,500 BTU. As usual, very useful video.
Neat little toy! I'm going to use it to run my leoch battery, refrigerator and freezer chest via propane. Excited about the possible run time.
Can you tell us your real world experience with runtime?
Loved your video and the stickers. We just got the dual fuel 3100 generator. Propane instructions say to pull the choke, and I *do* like the electric start
Just bought mine and ran it on gas and propane while camping. It's the perfect size for my needs and then some.
The nice thing with the victron 3000. You can tell it how many amps to pull. It will pull the rest from the battery bank. I have the victron 2000, Two BB batteries, Honda 2200. Nice video.
Sean....... Sean. You're not starting it right when on propane. Ya need to prime it in choke mode. 4-5 pulls in the choke setting, then, and only then, place your EZ START DIAL in the propane mode, and pull to start.
Can I say it starts easier? Well, based on my experience and your video, if have to say individual results may vary.
Thanks, again, for another great vid!
The stickers are a hoot! Kudos to the marketing department! 😜👍
Great video--thank you. I just bought two of these. A very similar one is on sale at Wallmart for $499. Great deal.
I added a bolt on carburetor upgrade kit to run my 5250 watt construction type generator on propane. That carburetor has a pushbutton primer that gives a big puff of propane into the engine for cold starting. It usually starts on first or second pull.
OBTW: AL - U - MIN - IUM. !!! 👍
I have a 24 year old Coleman Powermate 3500 that I also converted and has a pushbutton on the regulator for priming. It too, still starts very easily even if just sitting for years. So I'm assuming there is no push-button on the regulator that comes with this unit.
Dude....You nailed it! I totally see where you are coming from and I agree with you. Thanks...
for A/C units on RV's, try turning the fan on first, then turning on the cold settings. This way, the Fan and Compressor doesn't turn on at the same time. I can run my 8k A/C on my RV with a Honda 1k generator. Hope this helps!!!
Westinghouse 4500 works really good to love your videos
I have an 18 ft Coleman 1805B with a 12,000 BTU air conditioner, and my first generation 2000W Champion dual fuel generator and it starts and runs the A/C with no issues. That is until we move to higher altitudes.
Good review. Love the lighter weight... but I will stick with our Champion 3100 watts, single fuel, with electric start.
Awesome, was looking forward to an in-depth review of this guy. Thanks!
Congratulations on your great sense of humour that made me watch the whole demo, which was also a great help. I just went out to Machine Mart and picked one up (a generator- not a sense of humour.) Just got to wait for the arrival of my Brother sticker printer. 😆 NO WASPS!
I bought the exact same generator a month ago, but it is mostly black. It also runs my 11k btu rooftop a/c with no issues.
I like this video. Was laughing with the stickers. Glad the testing you did worked for the air and microwave. Very well done. Thank you for this video!
I love mine.....easy starting, economical. Great Champion quality at a great price!
But I’d it as quiet as the Honda same size?
@@nms1508 Not worth more than twice the price for just a few more decibels. Not enough for most (except maybe dogs) to hear or care.
hi would u still recommend the gen, with regards to quality and durability?
Hello from Ohio🤗. Love your channel!!!
Ok, I'm sure I will happily stay with my 3100 Champion *electric start* unit... which I bought on your recommendation.... :-) :-) I'm no 'spring chicken' but I can still load that bad-boy under the overhang of the 5th wheel RV!!
I was reminded as I watched... I'm still looking for a Whirly Gig of the old logger endlessly pulling the cord on his old McCullagh chain saw..... or the ancient Mariner pulling the cord on the reluctant Outboard... if you ever see these for sale. I'll be your HUCKLEBERRY!!! Thanks!! :-) :-)
I have a 2.5k gas only Champion and it will run my Dometic Brisk A/C with a soft start. I do cut off other breakers when using the A/C.
I had a 2000 generator for a number of years and it did a fine job as a lighting plant and occasionally running the microwave and any other appliance you can plug into a 15 amp circuit. Trying to run anything close to 13 to 15 amps causes the generator to run flat out. If you can get your A/C unit to start through technology and leave it on for extended periods of time I think is putting a pretty good strain on your generator. It works........but!. Honda has upped the game and now does not even offer a 2000 watt generator as such anymore. They have beefed up the 2000 watt to 2200 to ease the strain on that class of generator. This way they have a unit in the weight and capacity class that a lot of RVer's want. It will run your A/C without ripping its guts out. For me, I use the 3000-watt version now and it more or less idles when the 13500 BTU A/C unit is operating. If my sweetie chooses to run the microwave at the same time occasionally, it can handle it. Any research I've done brings me to the conclusion that the only manufacturers that are not playing games with the wattage numbers are Honda and Yamaha. If you stay under the advertised "continuous wattage" numbers on the less expensive models they usually do fine. Only my opinion. Happy camping.
Those labels and stickers were great!
Thanks for the demo
They have excellent customer service too, and all the parts are available.
Love your "warning labels"!!
😂 OMG this is by far the best tutorial for this generator. Thank you Thank you for making it humorous- just makes opening up this thing and setting it up that much more fun and understandable to newbies.
I haven't read the directions, but old v8 conversions preferred to start on gasoline and then be switched to propane. The rotary switch starting at the choke on gas, then propane and off, makes sense.
Great video, I think this small 2500 unit will run my tear drop trailer on propane no problem, I only have a 5000 btu AC unit and no microwave but I will need a LOLOHO sticker on it to keep me safe, LOL
Thank you so much for your time
Thanks
Great job Shawn. I have gas only unit and it ran my generator at lower elevation. Not at 9000 ft but did not need it there. Safe travels and prayers for your uncle and aunt.
For parallel, add another $450 or so for the parallel kit, gas splitter and 2 Gentents. Thunderstorms come up suddenly so you need them under a Gentent or other protection all the time and each generator needs its own propane supply.
Thanks so much I just bought this generator to replace my predator 2000i because of the extra power and the propane option your video is awesome plus I just Saw the Alabama tag I live in Lillian Alabama on Perdido bay love your videos
Hi, would u still recommend the gen after using for over 6month? what about quality and durability, would u mind to give me some feedback please 😀? thanks in advance kr
I have the Champion 2000w dual-fuel generator. It has no problem starting our 11,000 BTU air conditioner with a Micro-Air EasyStart on propane. I need to make sure my fridge is on propane (as Sean mentioned) and the house battery isn't charging (battery disconnect switch).
Hello hello so you’re saying this partícular generator should power a 10k btu ac??
Thanks for the review. Have you tried turning off eco-mode before driving your AC? I would think that would provide greater power.
We just picked one up. Haven't started it yet.
Great video as always. Is there anything regarding the max size propane tank that can be hooked up? Have a 100lb tank at home and would be great if grid went down to attach to it.
The water from the propane will settle in fuel bowl in most dual fuel generators over a period of time but by burning gas every now and then you save yourself from a rust bowl..Great Video
I’m about to purchase one of these. I have an Intech Explore with an 1100btu dometic. Pretty sure it’ll work fine!
Can't find an adapter to attach generator exhaust to my cpap machine .
just purchased one for $518 on amazon , very happy
They can't put a 30amp receptacle on that generator Shawn. It is only a 2500 watt gen. It can only supply 20.83 amps at 120volts. A generator has to supply at last 80% of the rating of the receptacle or 24 amps for a 30 amp receptacle. A 3000 watt gen would supply about 25 amps, which would meet that requirement. 3000 W and 3500w gens are where they start installing 30 amp receptacles, if I am not mistaken. Great video, I love the propane option.
My 2000 watt Honda Companion generator (which can be used solo) has a 30amp RV receptacle on it...
😄😄😄 Love the 30A receptacle on our 16A Honda 2000 Companion.
If only Champion would provide this model with a ‘Rich Corinthian Leather’ covered outer case option. 👍🏻
I'd personally go Snakeskin. 😁
The Ricardo Montalban version.
That's only available in the Cordoba.
Hobo tech! Two of my favorites!
Greetings...
I have the champion 3100 electric start and was thinking of downsizing-- but I think I will keep the 3100 🍻
I love the 3100W. It's the sweet spot
🍻
@@LongLongHoneymoon The 2500 champion dual fuel what is the amps running and starting and engine CC's? I couldn't see the side technical sticker tried to look it up no luck. Thanks
I almost bought two of those. But Costco had a sale on Firman Inverter Generators. 2000/1600watt for $350. I bought two for $750 with tax. Nice and quiet. One easily powers my Cherokee 23MK and I can run the AC and microwave together with both gennies running.
Should be exact same internals. I saw something where the firman draws air under the bottom so make sure it’s not sitting in dirt
@@aidenschvatkok5732 you are correct👌. I did read about and saw that in a video that the Firmans draw air from the bottom.
I’ve subbed just for the labels! 😂 We need more of your humour! Jet engine hairdryer 😂
_I got the biggest kick out of the fuel sticker " Improper twisting of the knob may result in wrist strain!" That got past quality control! : )_
Since you have a Victron inverter, you should be able to turn the AC amp input down to 13 amps on your control panel when running on propane, and let the battery/inverter make up the difference to run your air conditioner compressor with the Victron power assist feature.
Yes, definitely. The smaller generator should work fine for us due to that feature.
This was awesome, thanks for making this review so entertaining
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video I still got champion 2000 works awesome 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦
hi just want to know, would u still recommend the champion gen? thanks kr
@@FictionOrFact yes it’s not a Honda but it’s just as good
It has never let me down a lot of people can’t say that 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦
@@Badgeweefixstuff thanks for your feedback really appreciate thanks
You are hilarious! And super informative! Great video! Thanks! 😃👍
Your episodes and tips and information are always very informative you make it easy to understand I noticed on your site the champion 4500 what are your thoughts on that ?
REQUEST: I just bought this exact model. Would you do us a big service by showing how you "break in" your inv/gens?
Hi. You have talked about maybe getting a new truck. If you do, I hope the new F150 with the build in Generator is on the list to look at.
Re: decibel test. Could you be getting some reflections from the hillside behind the test site??
OMG! Extremely informative, yet totally hilarious; especially as it pertains to the hilarious stickers. As our new TT has a 15K A/C, we are going to eventually opt for 2 of these 2500 watt Champions. I have some research to do regarding the Champions. Specifically, does Champion make a propane hose (with a "Y" connector) that can connect two Champion generators? Also, my TT has 2 propane quick disconnects. Since my TT already has 2 x 30 LB tanks with a pressure regulator, I am hoping that if I use the TT's propane quick disconnects, I do not need an additional pressure regulator. I would love to run both generators off of 1 tank (for convenience).
The directions state to use the Choke position when priming with propane.
I would really like a light weight generator that would run and power our camper and was seriously considering this unit. But having a Honda EU3000is with electric start and VERY quiet. It's a tough sell. You can run the Honda anywhere as no one can hear it. Electric start is awesome and it sips fuel. But I'm getting older and so is he wife and it takes both of us to move it around. Sooner or later we'll have to make a change...but I'm not sure this one is gonna fill the bill or not.
Hi Loloho guys - another great video, but I do have a question...I remember a video a while back that Sean put out about generators that said when running a generator, it's a good idea to disconnect the house batteries unless they need to be charged because that extra load required to charge the batteries might be enough to prevent the generator from powering on the A/C unit....I may have missed it, but I don't think y'all disconnected the house batteries before trying to start your A/C unit from the "little banana". Could that have been the reason why the A/C couldn't start? Love y'alls channel!
I have been looking at the small generators and I agree dual fuel is nice to have so you don't have to worry about carrying gas cans or the middle of the night refuel. I found an Onan portable that runs at 2200 watts running and 2500 start but it's not a dual fuel model. I would also have to modify my ac with a soft start which adds to the cost. I did notice you did not say anything about turning off your charger during your test, I also have a solar setup on my rig not as big as yours but it keeps the batteries up when boondocking. Any comments or possible retest to see if the charger was enough to keep the propane from running the ac?
Hahaha I LOVED all of the warning stickers!
Love those white stickers! Hilarious 😂
entertaining and informative, thanks.
Great sticker schtick! Video was good too!
Hey Sean, thanks for the best review on YT. I do have one question: can I connect the generator directly to my RV regulated grille port without using the champion provided regulator? Thx.
My dad was just like you with the stickers, it made me laugh!
“If only you hadn’t taken those stickers off.” Not a husband out there that didn’t hear his wife’s voice at that moment. 🤣
It depends how often you use it. If you only use it during power outages- it’s needed.
Did you empty the gas tank before testing with propane? I know nothing of what is behind that propane/gas/choke switch, but my guess is it just controls the butterfly valve in the carburetor. (I.e. no cutoff for gas tank.) So, with gas in the tank AND propane attached it could be using both???
Do not run eco mode for larger loads, and do not run it for extended periods of time under high loads or loads that may increase and decrease (fluctuate) during the run time.
You were drawing too many amps on the first test and even the second test. Limit the draw on your Victron to 15A. Batteries to run AC, generator to charge the batteries works the most consistently for me. I also use my generator (same model) mainly for tasks away from wall outlets and to recharge my solar batteries.
Place the EZ start dial between gas and propane while trying to start it.
Key word stamped on unit "PARALINK" . Used with paralink kit it comes with 30 amp plug, able to give the average 30 amp RV all the power you would need.
Entertaining as always.
Thanks Todd, belated Happy Easter to you!
You seem knowledgeable on your videos so I have a question. Is there away to hook the generator directly to the port of the Airstream to draw off of the 2 Airstream tanks.
Omg the stickers are awesome
Haven't even watched the video yet, automatic thumbs up.
You are the man!
Same here. Definitely an automatic thumbs up, and then comments!
Just got mine today hurricane season here we come
Like watching an episode of Seinfeld. Nice work.
Just watched your channel for the first time. Thanks for the great information. Have you determined the dB level when running under a full load?
Did Sean get a new sticker printer?! Great review 👍
those are some helpful stickers, especially swallowing spark plug
I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to try and start it with choke on right? I think they say pull the cord a few times with choke on, then turn choke off to actually start it
I made one of these to work with my 3500-watt generator that did not have an RV plug and if you unplugged one side of the plugs you could hear the ac compressor cut off so I know it works. I don't know if this would have the same effect on the smaller unit.
I love the video. It's very detailed and funny. Another channel recommended using gas without ethanol because it clogs the generator up. I'm wondering what your opinion is on it. Loloho and safe travels!
It does I left fuel in a small engine for a few years. Wouldn't start fuel was sludge, had to take carberator off clean and replace fuel line it was falling apart restricting flow to the carb. If you run gasoline ethanol free fuel it helps, better mileage shut fuel line off and run fuel out, then try to crank with choke on, then drain carb bowl. And it's ready to sit and winterized. I was not running ethanol free fuel and let it sit a few years not winterized.
It would be helpful to know the BTU rating of Shawn's Airstream in the context of his test.
My Champion model number 100900 2000 watt duel fuel inverter generator can power my 12000 BTU window A C unit and a TV and a portable fridge freezer cooler while it is not on Eco mode. I love my Champion!
Question for you. I just bought this unit thanks to your video and the ability for this unit to run propane. Is it normal to hear the sound of propane coming out of tank when it is connected to generator but not running? I checked all connections with soapy water, so I would guess it is being consumed internally.
Great video!
I tell you man it's getting so bad that for a few minutes I thought those stickers were real LOL no kidding (freaking California) but that is awesome and I'm buying one of these generators so great video
