I like your weights. 😃 Interesting use of the rail joiners. You mentioned the thickness making that rail sit higher in previous projects. I think people also forget to compensate for that when readding rail ties underneath track connections.
that's exactly right! those tiny thickness problems turn out to be big problems after installation so we're going to stop those problems before they happen!
@@elite194 the funny thing is that Walthers also sells loose pairs of ties to fill in those gaps and also fail to adjust for the additional height underneath the connectors! We did a video on this and I think I may have offended someone who had previously purchased those. 😂
@@TwoRailfans I totally understand because I always make my own ties and when people see how easy it really is, they get somewhat concerned about the money they spent!
It may not be prototypical, but could you make non-hinged (bending?) points with code 100 rail by grinding down the bottom rail flange to reduce its width (while leaving its thickness unchanged)? This change would presumably quickly reduce the bending stiffness of the rail.
I have actually done that and it will hold using a ground throw! it looks really slick when you do that. I don't think a tortoise could hold it, but ground throws will do the trick!

@@elite194 we make our own from ties we have cut out of flex track.
@@TwoRailfans I do the same for many places that need that exact lenght!
