I think it's also about confidence. Not the shallow "I look great and have the right posture" etc, but the idea that if someone leaves you - forgets you, that's a fault *in them.* This is something you gradually acquire with age. I wish it had come sooner.
The more you love yourself, the more love will be reflected back to you. It truly does come from within. I wish I would've learned that lesson sooner, but later is better than never. ❤
The desire to feel loved also connects to the fear of abandonment and therefore to the fear of death, as many things in life tend to do.

Same thoughts. Life is hard and I use this as a reminder especially when I encounter hard people to deal with. I’d like to remind myself that at the end of it all, we just want to be loved; seen, heard, held, and accepted. Thank you for sharing this, it makes me feel less alienated haha

Well put. Something that also gives me space is to remind myself that it’s often very easy to confuse a need and a strategy to meet that need. That’s often where we lead astray and adopt really bad empty meaningless habits without knowing why we do them. Connecting with your deep inner need for love is very different from for example joining a gang to have a sense of belonging, respect and meaning. Learning to differentiate needs and strategies can be a key to inner freedom.

Recently, even though I love is all every one needs, I am focusing on loving myself in this season rather than trying to make everyone feel loved. 😌
I recently experienced the thing I feared most, I felt like a total failure and was going to withdraw from society out of shame and embarrassment... Then I realised something wonderful: no one else cared. No one cares whether you failed in your goals or are the most successful person ever. No one is going to despise you OR admire you. It's so freeing. Now I can work on projects for me and ironically I'm getting more done than ever.
That's great! Yeah we get so wrapped up in ourselves that we end up feeling like everyone is watching. But they are looking around feeling the same thing.
@@98Zai Indeeeeed. The thing is I intellectually have known this for ages. I think I've always known it. It seems like I had to go through something in order for it to sink in.
@@ValQuinn I think it's an age thing. When you're a kid you feel like you're the center of the universe. But then it turns into what you expressed. Finally you start letting go of the ego and it's a huge relief. It's just something that takes time to reach. I generally think it feels like true confidence, but in reality it's probably more like a physical development of the brain.

I love myself and I get love from others. I don’t have need to chase it, but I kind of want to be able to love someone else. I want to have relationship where I can give as much I naturally want to give and other aspects it, values it and of course loves me back in her own way. ❤

Love is not looking for acceptance and validation, how true.
Edit: You made me think so I'll complete my comment with my thoughts in case someone finds it useful: I dont relate the two concepts you mention: love and your job. I think, like you say in the video, that the reason any of us should do a certain job is to feel satisfied and fulfilled with one's work, and there is no external validation or love involved. That being said, then we have the love part, in which I find two types of love: interpersonal and intrapersonal. The interpersonal is the one you mention in the video, the "I'm still here" for the rest of the world (which IMO should focus only on friends, family, and your partner), and the intrapersonal is the personal vision of ourselves, how we treat ourselves, etc.
Of course, these concepts are related, but are not the same; by this I mean that for example doing your job because you love doing it and receiving love and appreciation from other people as a result is great, but the moment you start doing your job mainly because of that appreciation, things start to fall off.
This was my take on the video, I hope I somehow said something related to the video and not just strayed jajaja.

I think a lot about people’s advance/regrets as they are passing. They always consist of I wish I had connected with friends, family, and loved ones more, I wish had taken that trip or adventure or I wish I had just slowed down.
I get stuck a lot on the desire to have deeper and truer connections and I question how we authentically and fully do that in the current systems and societies we have set up. Oh to be loved and to love is the beauty of being alive💕

True "love" ensues from a deep appreciation and caring of and for the other, regardless of conditions or circumstances. That can only come from a place of being at peace, and acceptance of, self.
Otherwise there will always be conditions attached to "love" and "caring" of and for others.
Unfortunately, (subconsciously) many people need others to fill a void of some sort.
First be okay with oneself. The affection or "love" from others is lovely but no longer a necessity. It is then easy to recognise and actually experience the affection from others.
I think we often misread because the expressions of affection do not fit the definition we give it.
I've been divorced for 14 years now, and had a few lovers since then. I'm alone now and am happier and more at peace than I have ever been. Also during my marriage. I sometimes see the interest in the eyes of others. That in itself is validation for me.
A strange answer, I know. But love is not something to want. It's a way of being. I can give appreciation and love without even thinking about it consciously. It ensues.

The secret is: self love. See yourself. Approve of yourself. Everyone out there is too busy doing them. Seeing and appreciating you is not their job so dont give it to them. You are searching for parental unconditional love. All of us have not-perfect parents. So what? Grow up. Be less self-absorbed. Besides your parents, I have never noticed you being overly interested in others. More obsessing over how much they are interested in you. Like a kid. Grow up.
If you need love from an external source outside of yourself, then it's not love. You will never be complete looking for something outside of yourself. Because the truth is, love has always been within you. Always. Love is unconditional. It's an absolute. And most love nowadays whether from your own parents or your boyfriend or girlfriend is conditional. Your parents may love you because they live vicariously through you and are biologically attached to you. Your partner may just love you because of the way you physically look, money, or because you temporarily fill a void in them. That void in you can only ever be permanently filled and completed by realizing you always were complete and never needed to chase after anything or anyone for validation whether it be money, academics, or outside love.

but also it is something so fundamental to the human experience to crave and desire and yearn for a love that's "outside" and when you really love it all there is no more "outside" or "me" it's all one... and from that oneness somehow everything comes back to "two" where is something that is internally experienced and externally observed and that is the whole meaning of this human experience... idk

As a Christian, I find so many things you said in this video resonate with the Christian faith as what your saying is basically the essence of the it. We seek for love in so many places but ultimately we can only find it in God eho loves us just as we are. And this is not based on our performance or cause and effect (grace)

Lewis or You Are What You Love: The Spiritual Power of Habit by James K. A. Smith? They've expanded my thinking to a new dimension. Perhaps it's a bit off the beaten path for you in terms of book selections, but consider looking into them. 🖤

Sometimes we are unconsciously afraid to feel love. There seems to be a barrier, and we feel numb.
It’s helpful to slow down and feel the love we have now: the love of our cat or dog, a beautiful sky, music, free time to rest…there is love in places you didn’t realize. Let it shine upon you, like sunshine, warming you.

This is why the insight of the book of Mormon is so valuable... The most sustainable motivation is to serve other people as if those people were God himself. As you help someone, they may not reciprocate, but that shouldn't deaden your momentum or your desire to do good. But God always sees the good we do, and so shifting that priority to him has been impactful for me.
