Casey S why would youtube do anything about that when they won’t even remove someone like onision who is a known predator. (unrelated to this videos subject but it just shows how little youtube cares about who is on their platform)
Nick Moore yep, this is all true unfortunately. I was being a bit sarcastic there because i know corporate CZcams will never change for the better ;/

You know, one of the main reasons Mr. Rogers started Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood and testified for funding for the PBS was because he genuinely cared about what children were seeing on TV. Because of him, an entire generation was taught extremely valuable lessons through a show that was both entertaining to and respectful to children. He knew that kids aren't dumb, they just don't have the experience that the rest of us do, so he implemented that heavily into his show. I think right now we need another person like Mr. Rogers on TV.

There's almost no way Ryan grows up socialized well. He has a full time career as a child and makes more then a thousand adults combined. What's going to happen when Ryan is 13 and doesn't want to play with toys anymore... They are practically ruining this boy's childhood. At this age he should be going outside and making friends, not making content for toddlers.
@@AdamOfIngolstadt I've seen something similar to this before in passing and I think it's weird, but kinda normal to see adults reviewing toys, like if the adults genuinely like the toys they are reviewing? I know years ago I somehow found a woman giving a review over some girls toy and it was genuinely weird, but I kinda understood it if was directed towards kids. kinda like any other kids shows with adult leads, like Lazy Town?
@@katelynbrown98 I think its a lot easier for an adult to give a fair review about a toy. Kids are too impressionable and don't really know why they like things. If you have to buy presents for a kid and don't know what toys are "cool" I don't know why you'd want the opinion of a kid who will just repeat the last thing that was advertised to them.
An adult can give you lots of useful information, especially if they're still young at heart. Its much easier for them to realise which toys are just novelties and which ones will provide lasting enjoyment and they take in to account things like how well they are made and whether proper materials are used.
Nobody wants to give a present that breaks the same day or just ends up at the bottom of the toy box, and trusting kids to tell you what to buy will probably lead to that.
they're gonna turn it into a gaming channel then
He's gonna make a channel where he gives his political "hot take" on everything he doesn't know, and he'll do it in front of an audience made up entirely of his toys like all the other spergtastic youtube "commentators"
We will find out pretty soon. Apparently he is turning 12 this year. And I know some people mentioned that adults give toy reviews, but there is an age where kids start to naturally reject younger kids' toys as a part of maturing. So is he going to be 13 or 14, still sitting in front of a camera being forced to unbox and play with toys for 6 year olds?
My kids use to watch Ryan's Toys and boy did it turn them into greedy and whiney kids. We would go to the store and they would see the toys from the show and throw an absolute fit when told no.
We quit letting them watch it and within a few weeks that completely stopped. It was insane how much that one channel changed their attitude. It's sickening

I wonder what's gonna happen when Ryan's old enough to realize he's just a money maker to his parents and not their kid

Unfortunately, probably the same thing that happens to most child stars who realize their parents are exploiting them

Drugs & depression probably
I remember running out of the room where my sister and I were watching Saturday morning cartoons because an ad said to “tell your parents to buy etc etc” and kids are just so damn literal.
My Mom explained that I don’t have to do that, but it paints the moral that adorns the tale as it were.
I did that once during a PBS fundraiser. Probably interrupted sesame street or something and he said "I want to talk to tour parents." I told my mom but she didn't come to listen 😅
It’s insane to me how society never learns the dangers of exploiting children for entertainment and the story continues to happen. It happened with the Olsen twins, we’re watching it unfold with jojo siwa, and Ryan is that exact story waiting to happen
truly the dangers of unregulated mediums. we could not crack down faster on child exploitation on youtube, but youtube brings the mega hammer down on cursing/other unsavory content to get in bed with advertisers. shows their eyes are after the money...
They don’t “learn” because too many sick people are benefiting from the trauma it causes. There are RINGS of organized …crime that benefit off of child exploitation. They have gov officials, policeman, Hollywood directors. Not a conspiracy theory either. It’s straight up conspiracy and every once in awhile, an arrest happens to soothe the masses but they won’t put a legitimate stop to it because it’s lucrative.
Trust . The people that could put a stop to this exploitation would if they gave a crap.

My biggest fear for children being exploited like this is them being given the riches before they can fully realize that they where exploited and then being detached from society to the point where they never realize what happened
the strangest thing about all of this to me is how since this video was made, the line between disney+ and hulu has blurred so much. disney+'s original intention was to be kid-friendly which led to some bizarre choices that reeked of bigotry - specifically refusing putting content they deemed "inappropriate" for a "family audience" on disney+ and making hulu their "more adult" service. yet as of july 2022, ryan's show is still on hulu, and disney+ has MA-rated tv. not sure where this is going, but that business model is a whole mess and affects entire production teams who can lose their platform if not tailored to disney's standards of "appropriate."
(i know this video came out before disney+ was created and right after disney acquired fox/hulu, but it's still bizarre how it's progressed.)
I have some weird feeling that when this kid is grown up there's going to be a story about how his parents refuse to give him all the money made from his work.
Crimson Victory it’s gonna be Jackie Coogan 2.0
That is if the kid doesnt commit suicide in his teens. Cuz doing shit like this to kids is exactly how that happens
100%
And he's gonna sue them and he's probably gonna win
hell, theyre already blowing a bunch of it right now while hes still a kid
What makes it scarier is once these kids grow up, especially ryan with how big his audience is, the loss of their marketability as a child is gonna be placed on their shoulders. Their parents and sponsors are gonna place blame on them, shame them for not being cute and young anymore. For not wanting to sit in front of a camera and play with toys anymore, wanting to hang out with friends etc. it scares me what those parents are gonna turn to once their kids get older. Will they keep trying to film their lives, their vulnerable moments? Will they sell their childs likeness to companies even when theyre teenagers? Ryan isnt the only one whos had his likeness basically turned into a logo for businesses that are out of their control. I used to work at target and soooo many brands on toy shelves nowadays are just some random kids face, they get dolls that look like them, play sets etc. Idk how its gonna impact them years down the line feeling like theyre worthless now bc their parents cant manipulate them anymore and millions of kids dont watch them anymore. Its gonna massively harm their mental health for sure. It reminds me of kids who grow up with parents who pressure them to be perfect and that their appearance is the most important thing. That really hurts you in the long run. Its not gonna end once these kids grow up, their parents are just gonna look for the next best thing to manipulate for their financial benefit.

@@bestcatowner8711 worst part is that normally a child actor can usually bounce back after their teen years. Look at Macaulay culkin. He was a child star, he later laid low during his teen years then bounced back as an adult using his child star days as leverage. Using notoriety to help his career as an adult.
But the thing is that as a kid he actually appeared in films. He actually acted. Ryan won’t be able to bounce back because his “career” was just he himself playing with toys. When he grows up at most they’ll be some talk show that’s like “hey it’s Ryan but he’s an adult! How cool.”
He won’t ever find a job because of his time on the internet. His parents are going to rob him (just like culkin to continue to use him as an example) of money that realistically should be his and his life is going to suck because he’s missing out on a crucial part of life. Those developmental days as an infant toddler and child are super important and I’m sure he gets a bit of time off camera but given how much content the parents seem to be pushing out he probably isn’t getting enough time off camera to be himself...

@EseChava 22 I never denied what you said, in fact i 100% agree with you. You are in such a rush to be the guy who spits facts that you just naturally assumed I was against you, am I not aloud to insult people when I think they are trying to hard to be edgy? You want it so bad to be the truth seeker you want to appear to be the guy that KNOWS, it's embarrassing. I mean everyone goes through that phase growing up, there's nothing better than thinking you are this awesome entity shutting everyone down. Even I had that phase. It's just embarrassing to look back on though even if I was technically right, I just realised that noone likes that guy and that there's easier ways to convey my opinions without being overly obnoxious.

Interesting fact: the FTC has a rule with toy commercials and the like that the toy(lets say Spongebob) cannot be played during the same TV show(Spongebob) because children can not tell the difference between the two, they get the same entertainment satisfaction from both and can not tell any difference
Nerd city talked about this in his jake Paul video.
I remember being a kid and explicitly being able to tell the difference though. Were commercials often entertaining? Sure, they're made to be that way to catch kids' attention to make them want the item being advertised. Regardless, I really don't see how restricting when a commercial plays would make a difference; they're pandering to children using their favorite characters either way.
@@AK-yc9xz I could also tell the difference. But, if you played an ad for a spongebob toy/movie while I was watching the show I would probably have thought about the commercial more. Otherwise, I might tune it out.
Man y'all were dumb as kids if you couldn't tell the difference between the show or a commercial
Vash the Flash Stampede the thing is, when we were kids, commercials weren’t complete shows. Like, the closest you could get were the animated shows that you could buy a toy later, but now you have a companys name being said on a tv show they love, over and over, saying it’s amazing. it’s like brainwashing them into wanting that item
I grew up with the kid's show octonauts. A show I still love to this day. I highly recommend this TV show to kids. Also expect some becoming marine biologists in a few years. But these new kids TV stuff is literally just profiting off the innocence of children
It's 2023 now and this kid is 11-12 years old and the media STILL uses his toddler photos as if he's still a baby
I'm already deeply disturbed and I've only read the title
You are not alone I felt disturbed too when reading the title my body was shaking
That poor kid. More people need to see this. What ever happened to actually entertaining the kids with a well thought out plot that also educates them?
This is a great point to make!
(I also want to say I love your profile picture!)
Curious George and stuff like dat
Even the TV shows that were made to sell toys were better than this. There was still a plot. You bought the toys because they were cool but also because the show was cool! they had to earn that.
You guys seen Hilda that was an actually well done kids show that came out Netflix has made a few good kids shows
@@sorryifoldcomment8596 Exactly. it was blatantly clear that He-Man and Thundercats were just 22-minute ads but at least it was still a show.

Everybody not dumb: begone!
@@HypeJutsu thats what makes it funny
The current media thinks kids are dumb. But from older shows, we can see that kids can follow plots and learn from complex scenarios. Take a look at Charlie Brown, Hey Arnold, even more current ones like The Amazing World of Gumball, and many others. Kids can follow a story, and they aren’t gonna learn from hearing words they already know and watching crap that treats them as if they don’t know what conflict is.
Kid’s aren’t dumb. They’re young and inexperienced. This makes me so mad.

I can already see the interviews of Ryan 10 years in the future talking about how fucked up his childhood was.
Ryan is 100% gonna be of a similar attitude to the woman that played Sam in Icarly in like a decade
Ryan's Toy Review is becoming as marketable as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in the late 90's and the early 2000's.
true lol
Yeah except they were teens, not kids as young as Ryan, meaning that they probably had at least some semblance of understanding what they're getting into. Also, as far as I remember, in productions with the Olsen twins there was no blatant, outright product placements
@@nob2243 yeah but the olsens have literally been acting and on screen since they were toddlers.
@@nob2243 the Olsen twins have been on the screen since they were in diapers. I am not exaggerating watch the show full house from the first episode then you will see them as babies who couldn't even walk yet
noob2243 Mary Kate and Ashley were cast in Full House at 6 months old. I’ve seen interviews with them talking about how they love working and don’t even want to be like normal kids, like of course they didn’t, they didn’t know anything else, they’ve been working since before the had object permanence.

Why can't CZcams be a 13+ website with actually decent content like newgrounds instead of these awful, braindead, "child-friendly" videos with children talking about toys?
It’s hard to admit but the 13+ gate will *always* be lied to
the issue is that theres no real competitor that can be used as the children's youtube so youtube HAS to be the children's youtube while having stuff that's not for children
I’m pretty mature for my age (12)
newgrounds is a little 18+ today
Maybe it's time for a new platform... Or for an old one to make a comeback.
