Not only are Hulu ads so loud, they’re also SO uncomfortable. It’s like every advertisement that Disney can’t put on their family friendly services. I was watching Hulu with my mom and we got FOUR ads about pubic hair in a ROW
They have so many ads for medication for performance in bed. Different ones for men and women. It’s so annoying 😂

Netflix has that now
@rabieshaver Part of the fun of watching TV was finding a new show and trying to figure out what was going on without any prior knowledge of the characters, setting, or overarching plot.
Netflix has that now
This-sounds-HEVANLY
The biggest problem with Disney Plus is that, on the surface you’re amazed at the amount of content they had right from the start, but when you actually looked at that content, you realized that you had already seen 90% of it
And dont want to see 9% of it.
I just want to watch Hamilton again but that's what piracy is for 😊

I mean yes but it’s great for watching all the Halloween classics which has been my lifeline right now
There's old disney channel classics. Much better than the more modern stuff, timeless and ageless. Wizards of Waverly Place, Lizzy McGuire, too good shows there to spend a lotta time on, even if you're not a high schooler or a junior high student.
I paid $9.99 for no ads on CBS All Access. Every time I paused an episode of the one show they have on their platform, the video player would minimize to the bottom corner of the screen to reveal ads for clothing brands. Really toasted my pancakes.
Damn toasted pancakes
I'm going to start using that.
The ending of your CBS All Accces membership explained
so ads cook food let me rttrtyr
that would piss me off so much even without the ads. what if you want to pause to look at something?
My favorite part of streaming services is the part where intellectual property exists, so instead of content being available on all the places and they compete for who can show it all for the cheapest price, they get to have mini-monopolies and make you pay for multiple services.
Streaming was good when Netflix was the only one BECAUSE they were the only one. They've done a good job pivoting to making originals, and monopoly control isn't the answer, but now we get all the inconvenience of competing monopolies and none of the advantages the one-stop shop that was Netflix used to provide
Lol Disney+ always makes me laugh when I think about it. I used to work for Pearson (the textbook company), and while I was working there we got a new CEO who was a Disney executive before he joined the company. One of the first major projects I worked on when I got a new job in the tech side of the marketing department (a little while after he joined as CEO) was Pearson+, a textbook subscription service. Always made me chuckle, like "okay guys you're never gonna believe what my idea is"
I like how Netflix asks me if I’m alive sometimes which means I can fall asleep while watching. Hulu just just goes crazy and autoplays through shows you weren’t even watching. You fall asleep and next thing you know you open one eye... BOOM young Sheldon
It buys another streaming service for you while you're asleep? THAT'S CRAZY AS SHIT
madrocts it has come to my attention that the title “young Sheldon” is in fact not offered on Hulu. I am sincerely sorry for the misinformation that I have spread in my aforementioned CZcams comment. I am learning and growing every day. Thank you for keeping me accountable. Ps. you sound fun at parties.
@@helenapadilla6814 no no I meant that as a legitimate joke. In fact I thought your original comment was a joke. I'm so sorry it came off as sarcastic.
Ya I understand what you mean, but maybe aim to watch a movie, and it won't auto play, if you go to the settings when watching the movie. Just fall asleep before it ends the show, or movie. I do totally agree that I wish it wouldn't skip so many episodes while I sleep.
hulu has a setting to not autoplay, really helps for watching before bed
Something that is annoying about Disney+ is that when you’re done with a show or movie, it won’t get out of your “continue watching” spot unless you finish watching the credits to the very end. Netflix knows that you’re not going to watch the credits
prime is guilty of that too
@@FEARitself100 Prime does it, and also takes your ability to rewind during the credits and automatically skips to the next episode of a show. I remember my parents spending 5 minutes just trying to rewatch an episode of a show.

Ow that one stings
Aged like milk
One thing I can't stand about Netflix is that every category labeled "trending, popular, critically acclaimed ", are all Netflix originals. Give me some variety when I'm searching for something to watch. I'm not knocking Netflix originals, I love a lot of them. But stop telling me that the top 25 spots of "most popular movies and shows" are made by Netflix, in every category
sometimes I can't help thinking the top 10 ranking on Netflix is completely faked. like sure some of them are probably popular but some of the shows and movies that pop up I just can't imagine being successful. I assume it runs more like the CZcams trending page - just chosen by a couple of execs with no actual rhyme or reason.
especially my all-time crowd-pleaser, cuties
They're all just different versions of "recommended for you" with a bias towards Netflix originals. My trending section is always stuff that most likely isn't trending in my country, it's just similar to other stuff I've watched.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the play next and skip intro/outdo feature. On Netflix if a show has some extra material after credits you can press a “skip credits” to go see that. On Disney however (that owns marvel, the people doing nothing other than after credits) as soon as the movie is done they will force you into watching another movie, and you can’t even go back and watch the credits if you want to. If you try to return to credits they’ll just go back into counting down to next feature. Why are they doing this?! Netflix changed that ages ago??!

What worries me is we're going to have another "cable" issue, where so many services get split all over the place. and then eventually a service will come along that combines them and all of a sudden, now it's the new "cable" where you pay for tons of shows, with tons of ads, for a "bundle" package just like how cable has been.
DubstepDrag0n What if they even decide to start airing shows at certain times so that you don’t get overwhelmed trying to choose a show? They could choose for you! That would be so cool
@@nickrutsky242 its never been done before!
@L. Ron Hoyabembe yeah but that's what I'm getting at. Like Eddy said with Netflix having too many options, you may want to go to another streaming service that could have what you want, but then if you have shows mixed around on different platforms you have to pay for the inconvenience of more than one service as you switch around if you want the shows from them. So I'm just projecting and assuming that eventually, you'll get to the point where's theres bundled services that cost alot to have the shows you want wrapped in with a bunch of stuff you don't want. So basically similar to what you literally just described about cable.
@Akira based
@L. Ron Hoyabembe You need to keep in mind, we cannot control people's decisions, but the large companies will exploit what works because many people see sale or bundle and if they have some attached meaning to it, they're most likely going to buy it. It's the unfortunate truth of reality but I feel that's the direction it's going to go regardless.
16:15 i feel like its getting better though, like i feel like stuff like umbrella academy, stranger things, and sweet tooth will continue for awhile and who knows, with so much content getting dropped they might pick some of the shows back up

I still hate that Sesame Street is on HBO now. For a show that has such a rich history of helping ALL kids learn, it's pretty shitty to add a paywall to it.
the episodes still end up on PBS! that worried me too, but that's how sesame street is staying afloat. new episodes come out on hbo, then a few months later hit pbs (and kids obviously wont notice the difference)
k that’s great to hear! Mr.Rogers would hate to see it be restricted.
k yeah I’m pretty sure that Sesame Street just didn’t have the funding from pbs so HBO took over. Sesame Street will still have the new episodes tho so I say it’s a win lol

I like the Amazon pause UI where you can see extra information such as the actor on screen's name and a bit of their IMDb page, while the show is playing. It's a good option because i have friends who feel the need to pause and ask "what were they in?" and so now everyone's happy :).

Ted Lasso: "Allow me to introduce myself"
I think a useful feature would be a warning for when a show or movie that is on your saved list is going to be removed from the streaming service
YES! I hate when I add something to my list and a few weeks later I finally get around to watching it just to find it's dissapeared. I'd love a heads up or warning so I can maybe try and watch it sooner.
This would be good but I doubt any of the streaming services would want to notify users when they're removing content. The emphasis is always on what they're adding and how 'extensive' their library is unfortunately
Doesn’t HBO have a whole “leaving this month” section?
Netflix used to do that.
I’d like to add: you should be able to rearrange the categories. Have the ability to move suggestions like originals or horror up to the top so you don’t have to scroll all the way down to search
And the option to completely hide categories that you don't want to see. Especially those "Because you watched …" pseudo-categories that Amazon has. I don't care about those at all.

The fact that Netflix hooks you on all these cool originals and then cancels them right as they get into a groove really upsets me. I mean, yeah, some shows get bad after the third season but imagine we didn't have season 4, 5 and 6 of the Office! And they even cancel shows that didn't have a complete ending yet!!! You can't just cancel a show after a huge cliffhanger... Don't do this to my anxious brain!
i am not okay with this
Ugh yeah!!! The only one I’m kinda okay with them ending is Trinkets, it’s an incredible show but the ending was perfect, the second to last episode ended and I was like “how the fuck are they gonna end this” and then I watched the last one and it was so satisfying that I genuinely don’t know where they’d go from there, but honestly? That show was such a unique flash-in-the-pan moment, perfectly executed start to finish (with the exception of the amount of young adults dating teenagers :/) that it’s probably the exception that proves the rule.
im still so mad they cancelled glow LIKE it ended on a cliffhanger how can u end a show like that
I'm endlessly upset at the fact they cancelled I Am Not Okay With This but made a third Kissing Booth movie
Also, "we cancel shows after the third season, because most people will stop watching at that point" sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point. No shit people won't watch more than three seasons of a show if that's all there is.
17:32 "we're gonna have to ask you to give up the table" i hear that every day and now today i heard it twice
i would love another one of these but including the captions/subtitles for the platforms. netflix's is the best looks wise by far and you can customize it (although it does randomly change sometimes?)
something i really appreciate about amazon prime is the screen that pops up when you pause an episode or movie. it shows the actors who are playing the characters in the current scene and i know its not a massive deal but i really like it please could all streaming services add it yes thankyou

It's amazing how poorly this video aged in just 2 years. Not because of Eddy, but because of just how terrible most of these services became in only 2 years.

1. Make sure and have the skip intro
2. Have a option to say you have watched something
3. Option to re-watch a show (mostly for anime if you skipped the outro so it doesn't start there)
4. And upcoming section

As a fellow Canadian myself I agree, not having Hulu available sucks sometimes when I'm actually interested in stuff they have. I learned recently that the majority of stuff on Hulu is actually available to watch in Canada, but it's spread across different services. I'm pretty sure the "% match" on netflix was added when they started losing all of the big name movies and series license and started filling up your recommendation with lots of garbage. With actual reviews you would see that most of your front page is bad content you don't want to watch but with the match system everything is "95% match"
Yeah, Netflix created Secret Obsession and put that shit in the Netflix Spotlight. They wouldn't want you seeing the reviews about how insanely awful that movie is, that completely ruins how many views it'd get otherwise because people still trust Netflix's recommendations for some reason.
they added it after the amy schumer comedy special was panned so hard it wouldn't get recommended to anyone.
i’ve seen a %0
Amy Schumer got her special bombed when it came out and less than 1 star so Netflix got butthurt and gave us a matching percentage instead of stars which is fucking trash
I've definitely seen things like 65%, 80%, 50% etc. Not sure if I've seen much lower than 50% though. And to find a match as low as 50% it would have to be in some genre or topic I have never even touched.

The worst part of streaming services, undoubtadly: content monopoly
The different streaming services we have now almost never overlap in content, aka you have to go to a specific one to get said content (like, The Office or whatever), AKA, the services don't actually have to improve, since no competing streaming service exists that provides that content, and you can only go to them
Which is why more people have gone back to pirating
That and there are SO many different streaming services now, if you wanted to pay for access to all of them you'd be spending practically as much as cable. When the options were Netflix and Hulu, which were like $20 a month total, everyone had them because it was so cheap, and chances were the show you wanted to watch was on one or the other. It was more convenient than pirating so people just paid. Now it's so expensive to pay for a dozen different streaming services, even if you just want to watch one or two shows at a time, it's worth the effort to pirate just to avoid spending the money.
Ironically, 'content monopoly' and 'too many options' not only coexist as issues with streaming services, they work together to have an worse effect when combined
yep. everything used to be on netflix, for the most part. now there's nothing there, so i pirate a movie for my mom like once a week lol
@@adog3129 i relate to this so much. i live abroad from my country and before covid, whenever I come back to see my family she would always ask if I got any new movies lol

Luckily these services allow different users so we share our subscriptions. We don't have hbo, hulu and co in my country unfortunately
I remember wanting to watch original Twilight Zone with my friend hungover one morning, just mong out and watch some fun schlock. Even though it was on Amazon, you had to buy/rent it separately, and it was damn expensive. We just played a game instead, it ruined the vibe completely. My ex wanted to watch a show she grew up with, also on Amazon, but you had to get *a separate subscription inside Amazon Video* with some bumfuck nothing company to watch it.
I wanted to watch the film "Downfall" a while back but it was "unavailable in your country" every single place I looked. I wasted like a half hour trying to find a way to rent it.. and ended up just pirating it five minutes later.
I still buy stuff if I'm allowed to, and they're not taking the piss with the pricing, but yeah piracy is slowly becoming the more sane option
Enjoyed this; I would be interested in a new one re-ranking them since so much has changed in the streaming industry since then

What I would really appreciate are some options or settings, specifically:
- A setting to automatically skip intros and outros to television series like Bojack Horseman or Archer.
- A setting to automatically make the audio the native language, so I can watch anime with Japanese audio, Pan's Labyrinth in Spanish, Star Trek in English, etc.
- An option to have certain titles hidden. For example, I no longer want to see Young Sheldon in searches or recommendations, so I "hide" it.
- A setting to turn off "Are you still watching?" It's good for people who leave the room or fall asleep, but I really do watch 10 hours of content in one sitting sometimes and I don't want Netflix to judge me anymore lmao.
- A setting to turn off autoplay for a different show or movie. For example, I was watching Archer while working on something and at the end of the latest episode, Hulu played Solar Opposites. I like the show, but I was like, whut?
There was a big upset when Netflix temporarily introduced skipping the credits, because people should watch the credits.
Yes to all of this!! And to add one: don’t autoplay any trailers for other shows. Personally I don’t want to watch trailers at all because they spoil too much for me, so I hate how Netflix automatically plays them after 10-15 secs after another show has ended. Sometimes I’m not quick enough to click it off
the “are you still watching” has an option!
I'm the opposite; I actually wish Netflix would *stop* asking me if I want to skip the intro/do so automatically when I watch multiple eps in a row, and *stop* minimizing the credit sequences w/o even asking if I want to skip those! Every minute of The Untamed is beautiful, and I *will* be watching it all every time, damnit!!!
In BoJack it was very annoying to watch the final episode and instead of just being able to sit and think whilst Mr Blue played, I got interrupted by a trailer for Big Mouth. Sure Netflix, after one of the best and thought provoking finales ever I want it soured by Big Mouth...
I also want all streaming options to have speed control options so I can watch shows at 2x speed. I use a chrome extension to get around it, but it would be nice to have it built in. Netflix already does this
oh my god lowkey u sound like the guy from train ur dragon! love all ur content keeps me laughin

All of them should incorporate the same thing hbo has for “last chance” and “new releases” so you always know what was just added and what to watch by the end of the month without having to go to a separate article you maybe forgot about two weeks later.
Definitely yes for the last chance.
Netflix has new releases but yes last chance is huge
Netflix and Disney both have new and hulu has new and leaving you can also look online although thats not as convenient
I agree 100% “Fuck Comcast” for a Month straight without fail they turned off our internet every Monday till late Tuesday or even to mid Wednesday. And the customer service when we called was garbage.
This wasn't in the video (because it isn't important to everyone) but some streaming services need to work on having audio in different languages. It's hard to watch something with non-english speaking family or friends if the only audio option is in English.
Just so people know, Netflix has a “watch party” type thing. It’s a free chrome extension, google it and you’ll find it. You’re welcome Eddy.
Disney plus just added that too! I really like the watch party thing
Literally came in this comment section looking for this comment or to comment this if it wasn’t already lmaoooo!!!😂 But yeah exactly it’s called Netflix Party! :)))
Hulu has it too 😂
Me and my friend stayed up until 2am watching Netflix like a few months ago
Also going into Firefox will let you screen share and/or screen record it

0:01 what kind of asmr is that? Its very good eddy, can you tell me where I could get an experience like it?
I literally heard your intro and subscribed immediatly, amazing channel.
I wouldn’t get Quibi… because Quibi doesn’t fucking exist anymore
Well quibi doesn't exist as it used to be anymore but supposably it's going to be the start of roku's first original programs. they bought what quibi had and their supposedly at some point going to have it on the Roku channel. Therefore it is going to be free.
@@jonsumner1382 cool I didn't know that, good for roku they probably got a bargain
O l same
But Eddy, we CAN'T have ratings on Netflix anymore because Amy Schumer's comedy special got slammed that one time and she threatened Netflix and they changed their system. Thank Amy Schumer for that one.
What!? Amy Schumer is nothing to Netflix. Netflix could have the front page include a link to why Amy Schumer is the worst comedian to every walk on planet earth and literally no one would care.
@@monkeyd289 I agree with your statement. But I vividly remember when they change their rating system and it was after Amy bitched about her show getting review bombed. Don't get me wrong, I partook in that review bombing. This was five or so years ago though. she was a little bit more relevant back then than she is now.
I miss the reviews bc like.... It could tell you if, say, a documentary was full of misinformation. I managed to avoid a few bc of that. Like I saw some reviews saying it had misinformation, so I looked it up, yep, misinformation, and didn't watch.
Now there's a rampant problem of well made but biased documentaries with a ton of misinformation on the platform, and people taking the word of those documentaries as gospel.... Bc people don't realize that just bc it's in a documentary doesn't mean it's true.
@@mksabourinable honestly I kinda wish each episode on netflix had a comment section. It would be chaos. But a chaos that I can't help but want.
@@monkeyd289 except she's not.
I would also add a frame by frame mode because my boyfriend and I love going frame by frame for certain scenes and animation.
started watching eddy last week and currently binge watching
Should've had a reference to Well Dressed Bird when talking about that HBO ad.
That's a deep cut
Hey coop
The only thing that bugs me about Netflix is that sometimes it won’t give me the description of the show just the description of the first episode
When it says “winning ____ awards, starring ______” as the entire description I want to scream
Prime imdb integration is something everything needs. Animelabs ability to change language for both audio and subtitles at the same time midship is great.
Must be keyboard compatible
10:46 on apple tv (not to be confused with apple tv+) you can select between having the linear keyboard or the grid (the linear keyboard works really well with the touch remote)
I know this might not be as useful to everyone else but I appreciate how Netflix has a download feature where you can download some shows or movies and watch them offline and it's pretty cool if you don't have unlimited data.
yes!!
Except they still don't have it available on Macs 😤 Also Disney+ lets you download stuff as well

I feel like something missing from this list is an “international” option. I think it’s cool to learn what countries have other shows, and even if we don’t get English dubs of shows like Dragon Ball Z, it’d be nice to have the option to switch regions and view what’s already there. Same for all other countries and shows from other regions. Netflix is sort of stale for me now but hearing what is in other regions would definitely have me pick it up a bit more.
Yesss I would like this so much. I think it would be harder for the service because of all the different distribution rights and stuff tho.
And that’s why the video was sponsored by express VPN
Emi F Yeah but this was the PERFECT Streaming service regardless of cost lmao
netflix actually has a lot of great foreign content, especially east asian shows
Legally they cant do that though because they'd be violating the streaming rights for different shows in different countries
it would also be nice if the "add to my list" feature on netflix allowed you to create different folders so that they won't be crammed into one messy list
Nearly 3 years later, Hulu's UI still has a lot of room for improvement. Not surprising, considering many online services I use have company-owned forums with nearly 10-years old feature or improvement requests.

Hi dani
Eddy: Netflix will cancel your favorite show after 3 seasons because that's as far as people usually watch
Also Eddy: Has seen 2.5 seasons of New Girl
there is something called teleparty which is quite recent that let’s you watch shows together on streaming platforms
There's already a free watch party add-on that connects with all the streaming services you mentioned called Scener!
Not sure if it has support for Eddy Flix Max +, though
I want that as an intro every video:
“Hi I’m Eddy Burback, and I look like your dad.”

My family has had Netflix since they became a streaming service and I’ve enjoyed seeing how they update things. There was this virtual assistant type thing named max that would help you find something new to watch. For a bit they had a lil quiz asking what genre and such that you wanted to watch and it’s pick one out
I miss that quiz. I keep wanting it to come back.
Arbys: We have the meats!
HBO Max: Well we have the *birds.*
bro there should be an option of "i've already seen this" so i can get recommendations related to a show or movie i watched on theaters or in a friends house, but not on my account and i dont wanna watch it again
Damn dad, you said you’d only go out to get a pack of cigarettes almost 25 years ago and now I catch you hosting your own CZcams show?
Damn Eddy really be out here having kids at the age of -1.
Also with Disney, when you click on a movie you're done with, but haven't watched the credits it'll just stay in your "continue watching" and there's no "restart" button, so you have to rewind yourself like I had to with VHS tapes. Even CDs had, restart buttons
I love Disney plus's UI, it's my favourite UI of all time
