The Truth about Motorcycle Riding in England!
Vložit
- čas přidán 18. 09. 2022
- Sundays are for Motorcycle Riding, that’s true for sure! Even tho I took my sweet time to get off the couch at my new friend Matt’s house, cause I had such a great time, learning about the English motorcycle community and watching many CZcams videos, I managed to get out, have a great day of riding and continue my way up north in the Uk, despite a Tesla power blocking me at the charging station;). I spotted 1 major difference to motorcycling in the rest of Europe. Do you know already?

Editing Software:
Luma Fusion 2.0
Just recently stumbled across this great editing app for the iphone and i am super impressed and loive working with it. This is gonna be my favorite workstation and super practical for on the road editing.Love it!
apps.apple.com/us/app/lumafus...
Final Cut Pro X
For this Video and for all the videos i do at home, not being out with the bike i use Final Cut since for me it was the easiest to use program with a very intuitive Interface and cool colorgrading options.
KineMaster on Iphone
Here's the link to the IOS App:
apps.apple.com/us/app/kinemas...
Using the Iphone allows me to cut all my videos and clips on the road without carrying the laptop which makes everything so much easier and it's fun with the app;)
More about that and how i do stuff i will probably explain in future videos.

We "nod" because we drive on the left and the right hand is not free because of the throttle. When you drive on the right the left hand is free to acknowledge.
Whats wrong with the left hand then?
Clear proof that riding on the left is sub optimal
I drop the nod 👍
Always learning 👍. Thanks 👍
Well, that makes perfect sense.
We nod in the UK because if you take your right hand off the bars to wave, the bike slows down ! Have a good trip, it’s good to see the UK biking from a European perspective.
We do the same in Australia for the same reason
@@jonzuzen7075
Not all of us, I'll give double handed peace signs or two thumbs up where possible but even a smile will generally be acknowledged
But it is hard to see. Do it like your good friends on the other side of the Channel. Use your feet ;-D
Stay safe Marc, treat all car drivers as if they are trying to kill you and you should survive
I have treated all Cagers as possible assassins for years..
This is the wrong approach, and impractical.
Imagine yourself as Invisible instead
@@maalikserebryakov That's what I tell beginners. Ride as if you were invisible. Motorcyclists have to keep an eye on everyone.
In the Police Roadcraft manual this is called, "anticipation", basically assume anyone on or near the road is deliberately trying to kill you. It's no good blaming them later from hostipal, we have to anticipate the idiots.
What I'm enjoying the most is how you're embracing your new bike for it's different qualities and riding experience it's bringing you. It would be hard to find a bike more different from the Dominator, good for you for moving forward!
Also in the UK we don't count delivery riders as part of the biking community, usually we ignore them, they will rarely greet you anyway.
I remember when I was having motorbike lessons, my riding instructor "told off" a delivery driver for shit riding (results of only doing a CBT)
Nice editing, you're making England look like it's all countryside and pretty villages!
The head nod greeting is partly because in UK we can't do the low wave as in Europe because it would mean taking your hand off the throttle.
Yeah that’s what I realized a little later🫣
Same as Malta
:) ah makes sense, i nod too when operating clutch :D
Its nice you think UK is not part of Europe
I have cruise control, so I do the low wave, hahaha.
Love to see you embrace the new bike. It brings a new dimension to you riding. Keep on going and making videos for us to enjoy.
Keep them videos coming Marc, this was an excellent video. Looking forward to seeing more of the UK through your eyes.
It's so relaxing to watch your videos. I'm glad that you are meeting nice people along tha way.
Great people everywhere 🙌🏼
Glad you’re enjoying the roads and places you’ve visited and finding everyone friendly and helpful, keep heading north and hopefully you’ll enjoy Scotland as much👍
Great vid keep up the great work,
The nod is hello, if you see someone sticking their leg out it means slow down and if someone is tapping the top of their head or flashing their lights it means there’s a police officer down the road
Good to see you travelling on our little Island Marc, and really interesting to see it from your perspective, also funny to see you having to remind yourself to stay on the left, which I always do in reverse when I ride on the European mainland
nice one once more !!! Thanks a lot for the time spent doing that brother !
been binge watching your videos for a good 2 hours now and i'd say this is a underated channel for sure keep it up man :)
Thanks mate, happy to hear that 🤗
Hey, vielen Dank dafür das du eine Erfahrungen mit uns teilst. Aber vor allem für die Zeit und die Arbeit die du investierst, damit wir sehen können, wie es dir auf deiner Reise ergeht. Einfach mal so DANKE!
Sie 😉
Awesome!!!! I love the idea and I love the bike! Keep going. It's pleasure to watch the videos.
Ride safe Marc !! Thank you for the videos !
I’m glad you’re enjoying your ride through the UK Marc you will love Scotland it’s biking heaven,I just hope you get lucky with the weather,we’re having quite a cold snap at the moment, enjoy 🤞
The more you stick to "B" roads the more fun the trip can become.. Basically B roads and country lanes offer the most interesting routes, haha.
Looks like you're having a blast mate, and Eve is doing really well.
They're also the most dangerous though as well
Interesting seeing your perspective of our country. You may even change my mind on electric bikes if I keep watching. Great job with the place name pronunciations. Probably too much to hope that Matt watches my little channel.
Marc really enjoy watching you. The country roads are always much better than interstate highway. You really get to see more interesting things. Have fun.
This is the fourth trip I'm enjoying with you. I've never driven on the left side so this is nice to see how different it is.
I started to feel homesick watching this.
I moved away in 2001. I do miss the English scenery
First few seconds looked so familiar. Took me a few more turns to figure out that this was filmed in front of my door.
I like the UK, the small roads, the beautiful little houses and the friendly people. I enjoy your Videos very much. I like your old Honda, but your new electric bike is also very interesting. Maybe this is realy the future of riding. I'm impressed.
congratulations, i follow all your videos with a lot of interest. good luck and have fun.
I'm from UK Northern Ireland and when i started riding on the roads last summer one of my favorite parts is that nod we all do to acknowledge our fellow riders.
"You're fast too." I love the relationship you have with your bike 😊 Beautifully edited with the drone shots. But I feel your pain about sticking to the left. I'm British but have lived overseas in a right-hand country for years. Currently back visiting and trying to remember to stick left and look out for the crazy amount of signs and road markings. It's kind of scary how much you forget when you don't use it every day.
You're showing the best of our country, and looks like you're having fun doing it.
I would need an "Reminder Arrow " to the left at the windshield or tank .
Seen at "Motorcycle Adventures".
perfekt 👍👌 Marc ich hoffe dir geht es jeden Tag gut und du hast keine Probleme mit der Ladung und mit dem Rad 😝 Grüße tschuss
Glad you are having a good time dude👌. Watch out on having your Speedo in the vids over here🚨. You never know who's watching
very cool to see you riding on my normal routes near cambridgeshire! I actually learned to ride on the roads in and around Granchester (1:56) and Great Shelford
The next greeting you will learn is the LEG greeting :) Nice to see you are enjoying your trip. Hope the weathers holds up for you!
Yeah they do that in the Netherlands too👌🏼
Speaking as an old Brit biker, I used to love riding some of the wonderful peaceful areas of UK either solo or with a few friends...this was in the mid sixties and into the seventies... UK has become more congested now but its still possible to find a nice peaceful country road. I now live in Spain where I have to say the road surfaces are superior, plus there are great many country roads where one hardly encounters a car or truck...Because we ride on the right we are free to wave...acknowlige other Bikers...So its truly a brotherhood...
That’s EU money for ya. Spain have lovely roads
Hi Marc good to see you here in the UK. enjoying your vlogs
Good work there again. Nice to see the UK again on here. Keep safe.
Happy to be here mate
Hi Marc. I'm just back from a tour of the beautiful Black Forest and beyond. Made me laugh seeing you land in Harwich, my current home town, and then head for Belvoir Castle (pronounced Beaver), my original home town. I've toured a lot of the UK and Ireland - here's a couple of places I wouldn't want to miss. York, Yorkshire Dale's (Hawes), road from Mallaig to Fort William in Scotland, Devils Bridge/Elan Valley in Wales, a ride over Exmoor, Cork in Ireland (make sure you give yourself a couple of days), Lake Windermere (very busy with tourists), Surprise View in Keswick, Hardknott Pass (said to be most difficult in England), Glencoe Pass, Bettyhill, Cotswolds National Park, and Doolin Cave. I could probably do another 50 but they're definitely some of the best!
Hey Marc i am in the u.k now and i put i ribbon on my left mirror to remind me of driving left! To bad its my last day here. Enjoy the backroads are excellent!
Loving your latest videos riding in the UK. Enjoy the rain 😀
First time I've seen you on CZcams, good video. Ride safe (as we say in Britain). Subscribed.
Great video and as a Brit it's interesting to hear the views of visitors.
Hi Marc, I enjoyed that, so weird to watch an E-bike. Thanks for your kind words about riding in the UK it is enjoyable, not perfect by a long shot, one tip is-to Embrace the weather, my favourite rides are through Snowdonia in the piss pouring rain, the mountains and roads come alive. You get soaked through so wouldn't recommend it on a tour but I hope the weather is kind to you. I guess there are more of your vids I need to watch, very good editing and camera work, the drone work especially, Beaver Castle looks nice
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Marc great again! Really enjoy your adventure! Be safe!
Dat Klappt ja richtig gut 👍
Hoffentlich bleibt et so 🤩
Viel Glück 😎🤘
What a great video! Love the music!
Hi Mark great videos really enjoying them...Great to see your enjoying your ride...And travelled through Cambridgeshire..nice to see you rode past where I live... near monks wood which was about 3mins 47 in to your video...Just catching up with the rest of your vids.....Great to see you do it on an electric bike too...Hope the weather stays good...Take care..Marc..From Cambridgeshire 🙂
Great to see you in the UK, stay safe
Was für ein tolles video! :D Nice perspective to riding an electric bike!
gruße aus England!
how Mark, you are an adventurer and a pioneer! you are doing a great job and making fun videos every day. I enjoy watching them. tip for scotland: buy warm clothes ;)
Hi Marc
Watching your vid's for a while and enjoying it .
I think one of the reasons people like following you is because you are very authentic.
You are like a virtual Forrest Gump for us viewers, we run after you :-)
Keep going stay safe
No way! I’ve never seen any of your videos before and this one came up in my recommended so I clicked on it and you drive through godmsnchester and Huntingdon which are literally a 15minute drive from my house 😂. I thought this looks familiar. I will subscribe because of this. Great video keep it up
Awesome! I drove that bike to India 🇮🇳 from there…got a lot to catch up on mate;) welcome aboard 🤙🏼
Marc, nice very enjoyable to watch! Ileft Germany a long time ago, back then I rode a Yamaha XT 500. So if you ever around Southern California, you have a place to sleep and charge. Volle Pulle!!
I think UK bikers nod more often than wave because we drive on the left so in order to wave, we either have to take our hand off the throttle or use our left hand and wave across our body.
Other countries can just lift their left hand off the handle bar a little to wave at each other quickly and safely we cant.
Quite a change from the Dominator to a Zero! I had a demo ride of a SR/S in the summer and loved it, would 100% have one in my "dream bike" garage as my daily driver - my commute is 30 mins of highway so it'd be perfect tbh.
Hi Marc just seen when you came into uk at harwich I live very close to harwich yes you did say Peterborough properly anyway love the channel I have subscribed best of luck with all you do ride safe and take care 💪💪👍
When you travel through the central belt of Scotland don't forget to visit the Falkirk Wheel, only one in the world and also the Kelpies a few miles to the East of the Falkirk Wheel. Charging available there also.
The community is what make it enjoyable to me here in the uk.
Ok, the last time I checked in with your channel Marc, you were riding your Honda Dominator.. Now you’re in the UK, excellent, welcome 👍🏼
You look like you're enjoying your trip...make sure you travel through the Peak District..it's beautiful and you won't regret it...take care and have a great time in the UK.
Hi , enjoyed meeting you. Love your CZcams’s. I am in your room 😂
In France we either nod, finger-salute-wave or drop a leg depending on which bit is free at the time!!
Awesome 🤙🏼
Part of the buzz of riding bikes for me, is the sound of the engine.
The road you took to Belvoir Castle is my favourite local road to ride on. It's a very popular motorcycle road. Good choice! 👍
Welcome to the UK Marc. If you're ever in the South East give me a shout. Great video! 👍
I'm Welsh so British and it's lethal to ride a bike basically treat every road user like they r trying to kill you and you will be safe 👍
Lethal? I don’t agree…it definitely requires attention but, the joy outweighs the negatives.
@@andrewlucas6214 o yes certainly but I got hit off 5 days ago and smashed my leg up cos a a unlicensed rider u have to treat everyone the same
Theres too many elders that shouldnt b on the road
@@sugarrfree no it's not just elders mate it's idiots in car people have a momentry lapse in concentration then bam a biker is hit
Hi Marc, KEEP on B ROADS as much as you can. You'll love the UK countryside . Dont forget the side of the road and Knodding bikers lol
Nice videos and glad your enjoying England. I do feel watching the silence of the bike on that B road that it seems a soulless machine however??
Sounds & looks all good 👍🏻, I like this smooth e-sound in the back of nature sound while driving, that must be wonderful. But nevertheless a nice bubbling deep motor sound isn’t bad neither 😂🤪✨
Excellent camera work/editing
Thanks mate 🤗🤙🏼
This is incredible. I'm seeing some sort of motorcycle tour in the UK and it's not raining.
Great info change of riding direction left to right
Hola, acabo de descubrir el canal. Me gustan mucho los vídeos. Sobre todo porque sale mucho la moto y son diferentes , amenos y no muy largos. Los veré todos hasta ponerme al dia. Un abrazo y suerte.
youll be glad to know it still nice as u head north very warm day here today
Great rite Marc. I enjoy the video's very muts
Glad you had fun bro!!! Come back anytime.
We nod eachother because we aknowledge the " brotherhood" of bikers ,we help eachother if one is broken down,we are family. I have been nodding to fellow bikers for 43 years since a biker nodded to me on the first day out on my fs1e on my 16th birthday.
I've been nodding since 1990, I love the fact that we have this going on, comrades/brothers on two wheels.
@@alsner73 been taking my grandsons,11 and 14 yrs old on pillion lately and they love it when aproaching bikers nod, they nod back👌👍
@@xl250mon5 That's awesome, they've got the bug 👌👍
You could check out Mach Loop. It just south east of Barmouth. The little trail up the side of the hill is where everyone watches the aircraft flying below the ridge😄
Awesome as always....
It’s great watching your journey so far Mark. I’m sure you’ve already worked out that roundabouts are the other way round i.e. to the left, l have to admire your confidence nothing seems to faze you while traveling through different country’s.
When you see other riders the one’s riding sport bikes like me you side nod as on sport bikes your leaning forward so it’s difficult to nod from this position, Harley riders mostly only acknowledge each other so we don’t nod to them as a rule, but it’s up to you.
Great to see you touring on an electric motorcycle which imho adds a lot of value to your channel! Really appreciate your willingness to accept the challenge and the reflections on apples from overseas available in the EU. Keep on goin'.
Btw, 06:55-07:10 really poor driving line 😠!
@@paulwassenaar8351 Dabei bin ich doch Deutscher 😉 ...although I'm German.
@@paulwassenaar8351 I guessed so. You're absolutely right, "poor" is an absolute euphemism for the highly dangerous encounter at 06:55.
Appreciate your sense of humour! Danke für's nette Gespräch.
Grüße aus Trier
This was in my feed and I thought hang on that looks like Cambridgeshire, what a surprise. Going through Godmanchester, Huntingdon, via Woodwalton, Yaxley and on to Orton Goldhay. We say Beevor castle the “l” is silent. Great shots of our local area.
I visited my great aunt living in Wedgewood in some kind of post-war flat. Coming from North America, I was a little surprised at the retrofitted nature of some of the appliances. There was an electric water heater in the shower. Her husband was a London taxi driver with a map in his head.
I have had individual shower heaters in each bathroom for over 40 years. Pretty economical, easy to repair/replace, no hot-water plumbing (mixer taps).no waiting and wasting for cold water to flush out.
Trinidad &:Tobago.
West Indies.
Amazing! Marc, you are going to get a very cold trip the further into Scotland you go. Are you going to the Hebrides? Hope you can enjoy clear skies and dry weather.
Welcome to the UK, some Dobbies and National Trust locations have free charging so worth a visit or look around while it charges.
Nice video mate
Fantastic journey. I used to nod but now tend to use the right leg, or Scandinavian wave, given that the left leg does nothing
Cool 🤙🏼
well done - great video
I hope Matt told you about Billy Bolt. He's one of my favourite hard Enduro rider's.
Backpacks have been here for ages, but electric motorcycles are really new. Yet, you're having issues with your backpack. Safe ride!
Ah man you came right past my office! Safe travels mate.
You should go through Cotswolds on the way back, you will love it 😀
Met you today Wednesday in Hope Derbyshire it’s a small world keep safe
cool video's (again). just straight forward as traveling by bike is. Keep it up. can you tell me which video editing program you use ? grtz
Hello Marc 🙋 cool riding day 😁👌
It was fun 🤗
If you're doing that side of the country make sure you stop at York/Jorvik
The bike def has some acceleration but the whole charging thing needs some work. I guess you find somewhere and have a long rest/lunch.
Glad you are enjoying the Uk its gonna get colder/wilder and probably more stunning!
Bamburgh castle is worth a look. Read up on Ida the flamebringer. One of my Ancestors was a Titta. (in German Teitr).
(The last Kingdom based on it. Uhtred a descendant of Ida. Westernas or Angles. Saxons were further south!)
Interesting. Good to see my o0ld country. You took a pleasant route.
South Lincs/ Rutland - the area I live in and love biking around. Roads aroubnd Belvoir ("Beaver") are great.
Ottimo viaggio fino ad ora, tutto procede bene e non è poco....a presto!!
