  • Today I received the Lucky Duck Super Swimmer and decided to do an unboxing viceo. We needed more motion decoys in our spread, so I decided to try something new for the final stretch of the season.

Hey, DVO, thanks for the vid. Anxious to see that bad boy in action. I'm with Mr. Tineri, good ol fashion jerk rig. They're portable and fairly light weight. I have two that connect (DIY arrangement) to six decoys each. I place other decoys around them to break up the artificial line that jerk strings create and can get a dozen decoys per line dancing and bobbing around. The downside is...well...obviously having to jerk the dang thing. Even if there are no birds in sight, those guys need to be jumping to bring in the birds that are a 1/4 mile high and a 1/4 mile wide that you never see until they are bombing into those ripples. That's kind of drag, but I think a wise Roman once said, "Carpal tunnel' (seize the tendons, I believe it translates to). Oh, wait, I don't think that's the popular quote. ANYWAY...the best, in my humble opinion, is the Mojo Mallard Machine. It rocks! That said, it isn't cheap and it isn't something I like to take for any lengthy walkin hunts. It's 9lbs and cumbersome to pack. I leave it at my small lease pond and go strictly jerk store when I'm hunting public walkins that don't have a current. I've been very interested in Uraduck or maybe Ureaduck products. They're pricey and have slow production turnover because they are all made by hand in the States, but they're demo videos sure are interesting. Hoping to try to get a few of their products during the offseason. Good luck on the last split! Look forward to watching you guys slaying soon!

Get You a real decoy flutter. Also have the new mojos and they're decent. Also have the lucky duck butt up feeders, they work as well, but haven't had one last more than a season 20-25 hunts. They break and fall apart. But decoys that move water are my top thing I want in my spread. I think they make a difference when there is no wind. Good luck ! Hope ya finish strong

I had seen the Real Decoy brand, and now wish I would have looked at their website rather than just their retails. I think Rogers was all sold out, but their site has super flutters on sale for $44. I might have to get one and try it. I definitely want to add a few more water-movers. I want to try a few different styles (swimmers, splashers, and ripplers).

Did you get to test this out in a real world environment (marsh). My first thought I had when I saw the intake for the pump is that where I hunt that intake would be plugged up with duck weed and/or other weeds in a short amount of time.
Did you use it in weeds or weedy area and did it clog up?

+Diffidentone no I didn't. By the time I bought it, the marshes were frozen and we were in more open water. I'll get to play with it a lot more this early season. That's definitely something I hadn't thought about.

Ok, looking forward to seeing how it pans out for you in a month or so then.
Was thinking of getting myself some of those propellers that clip on the keel of a decoy but once again thought of the weeds tangling in it and then saw some user reviews saying they had that problem so nixed that idea.

Use the butt up feeders that spray water

I think I should of gone with that instead of the splasher. The splasher seemed to work a little bit but seemed to flare them most of the time. Might end up picking one of those up next season. I'll see how it works for the early season first though.

I'm not a huge fan of this, and was wishing I would have gotten the splasher.. maybe neither are the solution! This one works fine, it just doesn't do as much as I would like. I feel like you'd need at least 4 of them to really create enough motion in a 2 dozen decoy spread on a calm day. Really the only reason I chose this over the splasher was 1) price, due to being on sale with the remote and 2) I didn't really want another spinner at this point in the season.

After sitting on ponds in parks just watching ducks I was thinking about getting the duck butt splasher that kicks up water. Next year you can trade me and see if you like the splasher more 😂

Yeah, definitely thinking about some of the butt splashers. Haha, for sure! We should do some bass fishing together this year if you're down!

moving water on a river is no big deal Seeing a DUCK move on the water is key!!!! And believe me they [ducks] see the ducks move

Lucky duck products are junk in my opinion we bought the lucky duck butt shaker and used them 1 hunt and they all broke and leaked water took them back and got new ones and next ones lasted 2 hunts...get you a higdon pulsator
