my best friend was once pulled over in montpelier, vt after midnight for having one headlight out. the cop told her she couldn't drive away because it was "illegal to operate a motor vehicle that doesn't adhere the rules of the motorway."
she asked how she was going to get home. he told her to call someone. she said she didn't have anyone, her family was in arizona and she lived alone. he said, "figure it out or i'm writing you a citation." he returned to his speed trap a block away. she had to spend the night in her car in january in vermont.

He does NOT have the right to "travel" on any public road, thoroughfare, highway, byway, expressway, interstate, lane, boulevard, street, avenue, etc. without a license, registration, insurance, and if required, a safety and possibly an emissions inspection. He can't do that on a public road. He can do that in the woods, across a field, up a mountain, down a mountain, or while swimming across a lake. He does NOT have the right to "travel" if he is not a citizen of the United States, he does NOT have the right to "travel" at unsafe speeds in public, and Admiralty and Sovereign laws are truly garbage, anyone buying into that should buy the ocean-front land I'm selling in Kansas.

The gentleman who spoke about UK law is correct. If you are caught driving without insurance the car will be towed. No exceptions. If it belongs to someone else they can get it back from the impound place, but will have to pay the fees. Typically around $320 and approximately $30 per day. If its not retrieved within say a fortnight to a month then it is usually crushed. Even if it's a Rolls Royce. And the Police will only take you to the nearest place of safety, say a Motorway service station if you are stopped on the Motorway. No further. If you have no money for a taxi, then it's Shank's Pony. ( walking). It's a good deterrent. It seems US lawmakers don't take safety and this issue seriously.

Travelling is a right, in any form, foot, train, bike etc
Driving a motor vehicule is a privilege, and that privilege is given if you adhere to the rules, aka licence, assurance, etc (and not fucking speeding a 98Mph with a trailer on your ass)

Penalty should be truck and trailer towed. Can not get out of impound until license is valid, insurance is paid 6 months in advance, registration is good. If these arent done in 15 days, they sell his vehicle and trailer. His license then is suspended for a year

For many years I presided over driver license hearings for Michigan. This was the kind of people I met virtually every day. Let me just give you one example.
A fellow purposely was speeding one day so that he would be assured to be stopped and ticketed. He purposely allowed his plates and insurance to expire. He was conviced the U.S. constitution guaranteed him the right to free use of public highays and he therefore was not required to obey these laws. He was not ticketed for speeding but was on the others. He demanded a court hearing. The judge listened for a while and then gave him the max fine of $100 each plus $1000 court costs and judgment fees which resulted in total costs of $2210.
This fellow also had too many points. When he came before me he tried the same nonsense. He told me of the other non-moving violations and costs which I verified by a phone call to the court. His legal "expertise" made his wallet lighter; $2210 plus his driver license.
    True story.

This judge just basically let this guy off. Speeding, reckless driving, no concern for his fellow citizens, admits this happens every time he gets pulled over.
By not making an example of this idiot he's leaving the door open for involuntarily manslaughter on his own behalf (the judge that is). What happens when he hits someone with no insurance tomorrow because of what the judge didn't do today?
I guarantee you that if this sovereign were to get hit by someone he'd be screaming bloody murder over the other driver's insurance. But even if another person caused the accident he'd still be liable because he's car isn't supposed to be on the road without insurance.

You have the right to travel to and from the jail for your court hearings. Once all your court is done, and you are behind bars, the jurisdiction argument will cause major laughter, and your right to travel to the jail yard will be monitored. Oh, yes....don't pick up the soap.

If he has no insurance, any injuries that he suffers in a collision are not covered by any other driver, even if the other driver is at fault, except in three very, very limited circumstances. Also, the "No-Fault" limitations on liability do not apply to a driver who is not insured. Not a good situation.
