    Thanks for this video. Did this job on my 2006 xc90 today and this video was very helpful.

    Nice video man. Cool calm energy. I will try to remember the patience tip. Always have a problem with that when doing emergency repairs lol.
    I have changed plenty of alternators etc before, but I always like to watch a vid on a car if I haven't worked on one before. Will be doing this tonight on my daughter's s60 that is broke down in a parking lot. So fun fun!
    Thank you for the run down.

    @Michael Silva Jr. Good job on the video. I especially liked how at 13:56 you showed the reason why we need to loosen the AC compressor bolts a little bit. I've heard that before but you showed us why! Thanks!

    nice job .. we just did this exact same job on my S60 .. but having a problem getting the serpentine belt back on .. i wish this section of your video showed exactly the steps for that :\ its so frustrating after replacing the alternator perfectly .. relatively easily .. to get stuck at the last part with the belt :\

    Great video and past experience if there’s not a lot of space, sometimes you can access and remove the alternator from the wheel. Well, you just got a takeoff the dust shield,

    You rock Michael. Long-handled flex head and patience. Noted. Also good general advice for life. In addition to working on our euro-engineered swede machines. Serpentine belt is my next up job. Thank you for your demo and great advice.

    Two questions, are the 2001 and 2004 about the same under the hood? Also, can you list the tools needed, if it's easy off the top of your head..... Thank you!

      There pretty similar maybe just a little different if any and for tools used I think it was flex head ratchet sockets I think I used the rail with socket sizing from 6mm -22mm so nothing smaller or bigger then that sizes also opened end wrench’s of the same size range some pliers and I think it was a pry bar to help with the belt installation let me know if this helps if not I can check my shop tools program and see if there’s a detailed tools list have a good one Aloha

    How much u think this will be at a mechanic just alternator and power steering pump plus labor?

    • @michaelsilvajr.4578
      @michaelsilvajr.4578  Před rokem +1

      Not to sure every place is different I try to do help people out as much as possible cause the price quote’s people bring to me is crazy on this job the alternator was about $120 and power steering pump was about $80 and about 4 hours labor labor around here runs about $80-$100 an hour but for me t just do a flat rate and if it takes longer its on me and on this job the price quote they got was for something like 11 hours labor at $100 per hour witch I think is a little overboard lol I hope this helps have a good one Aloha

    Installed a NEW certified Volvo alternator. Now get the following: Power system service urgent light on . Any suggestions on what to look for on this error?

      Check the fluid make sure it’s full and no leaks then it would be a time framed service request that needs to be reset by a scan tool you can also try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to try reset the computer try those and if they don’t work lmk and I can look deeper into it for you have a great day Aloha

      @@michaelsilvajr.4578 thank you for the speedy reply! Unsure what fluid as it's an alternator? . Did do the battery method reset. Still has that red alert message. Might take it in to see if the new alternator is indeed functional.

      Hea sorry man I miss read your comment but that would be a good thing to check out the alternator cause it could be defective and not putting out proper voltage
