We've had 4 Land Rovers in a little under 20years, only one had an issue that required towing (suspension). More problems are symptomatic of more features which the off road capabilities were often responsible for

4 Land Rovers in 20 years. That an average of 5 years and was kept a little over warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles). If you had two Land Rovers in 20 years with little to no problems then you would contradict that they are, as Scotty says it, endless money pits as they age.

The t bone occurred at ~107,000 (2007 LR3), the trade in on another was around 170,000 (2005 LR3, rear ended on that one at one point too), don't recall the 2001 discovery trade in mileage. Checkups are pricier and so is gas, but it's not an endless money pit. Every other brand car we've owned in that same time period has had to be towed due to some sort of catastrophic failure or a problem that prevented it from driving properly. (Mini, Alfa, Honda (some user error on that one), Kia, Jaguar, and Hyundai, 2005 LR3 suspension issue one time) For everyone of those land Rovers, they were daily drivers, used for cross country trips, used for heavy off-roading, and put through the runner. They're good to you if you're good to them.
Used to work for a major extended service contract company. They stopped covering anything by Land Rover because they were guaranteed to lose a ton of money no matter how much they charged for the contract. Just would have too many issues every single year the owner had one.

It's just that the newer range rovers and land rovers are still under warranty but the rest of the range rovers that arent under warranty have been a nightmare for the owners. When I worked at an Acura dealership we had a 16 Evoque. Beatiful truck. Except we had to auction it after selling it 3 times and having to take it back over issues with the turbo.

My best friend works as a general manager in Seoul, Gangnam, Korea had said that 9 out of 10 Range Rover sold within a year will be back at the dealership for an issue either mechanically or electrically while keeping his dealership very rich.

Learned this the hard way when our Range Rover’s engine knocked after 3 years right when the warranty ended. We followed all maintenance requirements, paid a lot of money for it just for them to say we have to pay them another $20k to get the engine replaced in the end. It doesn’t matter how well you maintain it, it will break.
You must of had a good one because the first engine always seems to be replaced under warranty,it's the next 2 you pay for if you own the car for another 4 years 😂

As a Hyundai owner, I've gotta say its actually pretty fascinating how much of the interior design Hyundai has taken from them. Not only the new 2024 Santa Fe, but even my 2023 Santa Fe. Thankfully, a my Hyundai vehicles have been super reliable tho lol
