Next video: "I bought a cheap Boeing 737 Max, still lots of life left in it"
😂 we know the common faults now don’t we?
@@COMMANDERFOX31 ezy wouldn't touch it ha. More a tui bird.
Just wants a nice clean this.
Take it down to your local Stockport Boeing service centre
Doesnt fly but not too bad for a 10 year old plane
I love your brutally honest style and delivery in these videos. I would trust you if I were in the market for a car.
same. if i was in the uk, I would definitely buy one of his cars
Even wearing a 'moschino hoodie, really?
Yeh he is a honest salesman I would buy off him or work with him. Shame he is very far from me
guys like him boost about how good they are but after you by a car i would like to see how he reacts i bet he tells you to piss off i am a master mechanic trained by BMW MUNICH he is to slippery for me
Agreed. For me the only type of salesman I'd trust
Hi Matt. Must admit - if I lived back in the UK, I would be banging on your door to buy this. As you might recall from previous comments, I live in Qatar and own both a 2008 4.4 V8 LR3 HSE and a 2012 5.0 V8 Supercharged Sport. Love them both. I couldn't agree more about keeping a budget aside for looking after them - I set aside a notional QR 2000-00 (about 400 GBP) a month for non-service repairs - most months neither of them need anything but then when they do, I am not losing sleep over repair costs. And I only use a specialist independent LR service chap who actually knows how to look after these cars. At the end of the day, even if they are 'good value' second hand, they were still expensive cars new and they remain expensive cars to service and repair. This needs to be remembered. Great video on a great vehicle.
Did you say you set 400GBP aside every month??? You can pay a mortgage with that cash. I Guess I can't afford that much on just a car. Lovely car though, It must drive like a dream
@@javigar133 Hi there - thats what I keep aside as a 'monthly budget' for both the LR3 and RR Sport - that's not what I actually spend every month. And thats for 2no cars. Yes - I guess it does sound a lot if you consider it, but then if I don't spend anything for 6 or 7 months or longer, then the budget doesn't get used and I am no worse (and indeed better) off. Look at it another way - I could quite easily spend that amount of money (and way more) every month financing the purchase of a newer car of similar type (how much is finance on a new/newer Range Rover?) or use my savings to simply pay outright both of which would cost me money. The money I have budgeted to spend but haven't spent sits in an interest bearing account and I have 2no nicer older Land/Range Rovers that I enjoy without financial burden.
You must be either be mad or extremely wealthy with a love for driving a big van on air suspension with a big engine.
@@coops1964 Morning and thanks for taking the time to reply. Answers to you suggestions are a) arguably mad according to my wife; b) not wealthy by Qatar standards c) while my LR3 and RRS may have air suspension and relatively big V8 engines (by some standards), they are definitely NOT vans!! Perhaps you have never driven either - if you had you would realise this. However, by comparison to other 4x4s here in Qatar (Land Cruiser 5.7 V8, Mercedes G63, Ford Raptors, Chevy Tahoe, etc.) 4.4 V8 and 5.0 V8 are not particularly big and with petrol at the equivalent of 45p/litre it doesnt matter that much anyway. Ohh - by the way - we also own a Ford Expedition with a 5.4 V8 too.
@@sportster883able I follow your logic, I won't ever buy a brand new car due to criminal depreciation, but budgeting 400GBP per month just for potential repairs is, maddening to me. I agree there is something special about Rangel Rovers, I should test one, but there is this brand, Lexus, that offers a superb driving experience without breaking the bank on repair bills. Matter of taste, prioritise and, of course, disposable income I guess
My first RR was a 2011 L322. I absolutely loved that truck. I had it for 3 years, babied it and traded it in on a new one. One of the things I really loved about the interior was the piping on the seats. It added that certain class look . On my fifth RR now. Like you I love the brand.
I wonder if the 2012 Continental tyre was originally the spare. That would explain why it’s the only premium tyre, and also why such an old tyre still appears to be in good condition.
I think you’re right
I think you're right detective
The spare was a pirelli like the rear left one, so at some point the rear right got changed
@@robinl.7948 this stirs up the curiosity!
I don’t believe that a tyre from 2012 would have lasted that long on a high-mileage car, so I wonder if the wheel has been replaced, and that one is off another lower mileage car.
@@andyrobertshaw9120 One of life's small, insignificant mysteries that we may never know
😂“You don’t want to find duct tape and a sheet in a car you’ve just bought”😂 couldn’t stop laughing when you said that. Indeed you don’t.
Creepy find 🤣🤣
I once bought a Ford Scorpio 4x4 Ghia from an Auction and when I finally got it home, discovered a pick axe handle and 2 ski masks in the boot. GULP!
That's a question Matt what's the worst and best thing you've ever found in a car?
I actually found a shovel, duct tape, and a couple of blankets from an old Ford Focus I bought! And those weren't there when I was inspecting the car. Had to contact the owner since it scared me a little.
I’m not a big fan of the RR but I’d happily drive that…
Great looking car and much as I would love it, I could not afford the upkeep, but you have done a great job and your enthusiasm and attention to detail to bring this classic sample of British engineering back to life is commendable, well done, good luck with the sale.
Simply love how you really get into the small details of 'making' a car perfect, like the filler cap. Could've been something I'd done. Keep up the great content!
The most interesting and informative 31 minutes and 10 seconds of CZcams video I've watched in ages. I felt like I had been involved in the process from start to finish. Thanks for taking the time to post these uploads.
Thanks for watching
Completely agree on selling it. I sold a RRS tdv8 I tried my best not to sell it to a guy that had come out of a lease car. It was cheap and I said beware that at any point it could need something. A few months later a turbo failed and he sold it for nothing because he didn’t want to spend the money fixing it. It was daft everything else was spot on with the car
Yes exactly. It’s a tale as old as time
Tried my best to convince him not to buy it unless he had money saved and prepared to spend it
Great video, Matt. Love the ones where you fix them up, the honesty and transparency is refreshing. If I didn't' have my TTS I'd definaley go for some Range Rover rollin and his is a lovely example.
I love it when you're checking tyres - always makes me smile 🤗
Loved it - Great adventure saving what was and now still is a wonderful machine.
Experience in this kind of car helps and boosts the confidence in buying.. great results as always!! 👍🏻
I agree Matt about the number plate thing. Use the space fully and they look much better. Another great video buddy. Love watching the process from start to culmination.
Great video as always. Amazing how much difference mileage makes to used values. Love the L322.
Worth every penny for the Rick Astley CD alone mate😀👍
I wasn't sure if you were going down the cheap brushup option or the fully restore and make it a mint example and glad you went for option 2. Looks great Matt. Also suprised that a cheap 10 year old range rover was cheap due to bodywork neglect rather than serious mechanical issues, seems like a role reversal 😂
Great video as always. Amazing how much difference mileage makes to used values. You mentioned retailing the L322 around the £13k mark, for the same model and year with 70k miles you'd be looking £17k+
Been watching your videos for years…huge fan of anything Land Rover, but your totally right , my grandad once said to be never buy a land rover you couldn’t comfortably buy twice, at least older one. They have to be looked after. Keep up the great content Matt!
Before the spruce up, it really was as good as you could ask for it to be at that price. After the spruce up it's 💯👌🏻 Great looking car, and still a bargain for the sensible, realistic buyer.
After 30 years of Landrover / Range Rover ownership it’s always great to see that you’re an enthusiast and do what’s necessary to save the car and get it working as it should. I’m always put right off a vehicle if a seller, including LR main dealers, who do the absolute minimum, even trying to sell them with mixed tyres. The interior looked good on that one, I’ve seen quite a few L322s with well worn controls which never gives a good impression. I’ve just had to buy a rear light for my L405 (wife borrowed car…) £330 online and around £600 from the dealer. Never cheap. Keep up the good work!
Great content just love your honest approach to car buying and ownership 👍
Great video, you can tell the love you have for these cars by the way you are talking(k) down the problems it obviously has!
Hi Matt, yet another cracking video on an exceptional car. Your comments are honest and you explain things and costs right down to the last penny. Your advice about running costs, servicing etc are absolutely spot on. Great video Matt and a great channel.
Thanks
@@HighPeakAutos you have done a great job I agree with the window tint and cheep tyres. Great content as always.
@@mattlawton4715 Personally, I love the window tint and it was very subtle in the front so it might have been better to let the new owner decide for themselves. It also protects against skin cancer which isn't often mentioned.
I love your brutal honesty. It's is actually refreshing. Sometimes I binge watch your videos for more insight into these cars m some of which I have driven Iver the years.
I appreciate that!
Love this type of video. Great to see some awesome cars being kept on the road
This is the sort of thing that is probably worth considering as a candidate for my 'mostly parked up, 1500 miles a year' replacement for my Freelander. Another great vid, thanks
It's the paying £630 a year VED for a weekend car that stops me
Your advice of keeping an extra 4k when buying a used Land Rover was the best thing ever. After purchasing my 2013 Freelander 2 I had to spent money on these things: cambelt and clutch replacement, 2 door locks failed, boot lock failed and a full service. It wasn't cheap but at least I was prepared. Anyway, whenever I drive the car I forget about maintenance as I cannot imagine driving something else. They are the best cars ever!
The best cars don't have 3 different locks break especially when under 10 years old.
Keeping an extra 4K when buying a Land Rover is perhaps the biggest indication not to buy one. They deserve their bad rep and reek of people valuing status and image over others being a decent reliable car
@@dilan4123 You got that right, it's status, the average person buying one lives to regret it, overpriced, poor quality money pit.
But! ok if you are royalty, government, sports star or big company nob and it is bought and maintained by someone else..
You have Stockholm syndrome!!!! these cars are conical piles of shite, money pits !!!!!!
Hello Matt, nice looking car after all your hard work.
Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Another great video matt you have done a great job and the l322 looks lovely I would love a Westminster they have so much presence on the road and still look very regal good luck with the sale and top man for not letting it die and giving it a new lease of life matt keep videos coming love em
You must be the only car dealer in the UK who would spend 50% of the car's current value on repairs and upgrades. Massive respect mate !
Agreed.....In the UK the difference between trade and retail prices are significant....That is partly to allow for typical costs to prep to remail standard. Unfortunately there are wide variations as to what prep work is done by some traders. Some wil do very little more than a supermarket car wash/vac & a maybe a source a dodgy MOT then advertise for a significant margin maybe hiding behind a chocolate teapot warranty and not answering calls if the sold car has issues.
Fair play to this guy
@@AW8UKLike High Peak Auto's, Check his Google reviews 😂
Smooth presentation, like always! Watched it till the end! Thumbs up!👍
I really like how you have the beginning and conclusion in the same video, nice change from other channels
That old navarra still keeping the parking bay warm
😂
Got to love the Range Rover. I had a 2006 Vogue SE supercharged, I sold it when I got my company car, I still miss it.
Land Rovers remain the greatest 4 x 4s by far.
The wheel centre champ. Great video thanks mate. 🙂 Have a 2011 myself so appreciate all the advice. cheers.
Honest businessman becoming a successful youtuber. Man i am follower since 20k follower it is so nice to see you are over 200k :)
Thanks!
Love the 322, and always thought the Westminster was a lovely spec!
If you need bits like replacement filler caps or straps, give Powerful UK a look.
Good guys, sensibly priced parts (OEM and aftermarket) - useful for older models! (And I'm not affiliated to them in anyway!)
I don't think there is ever a cheap rangey unless you're either very lucky or a mechanic with OCD.
Normally within a long run, 3 months or heavy foot you can soon build up a list of issues !
Part worns all round ...god knows what the latest service really looked like after 95k .....eBay oil oil and slick 50 ....😂
I do however as per wish you well and I'm sure you'll have it looking and driving as it should 👍🏻🙏
So glad I found this channel, very informative and makes for an interesting watch. Good stuff 👍
Glad you enjoy it!
Keep up this style of vids they keep me coming back.
At least it was a spare wheel in the well, and not a corpse. Not a bad effort for what you spent. There will definitely be someone out there who is hunting for this spec.
i was expecting a scare in there, no corpse is always a good thing in a used car 😉
Always love these videos where we see the end result. I actually prefer the front door windows tinted if the rear section has the factory tint. I just don't like the half-tinted look. If the back section isn't factory tinted I don't tint at all. First thing I did when I bought my Touareg was tint the front door windows to match the rest. Cheers.
Thanks for keeping a L322 running! Nice work and great video as always! Still driving mine for at least another 10 years...
Congratulations Matt. She’s a lovely classy cruiser. I’m mightily impressed. Going to watch the rest of this video and know I’m going to enjoy this. Love range rovers. Miss mine back in New Zealand ❤
To be honest at this spec of car would not worry too much about a few dints and scrapes it’s the engine gear box and suspension condition/service history that’s important. Great car for running around Europe in. Nice buy looking forward to what you do to it.
Looks like he’s now sold it as it has been taxed from 1 November.
Another one saved Matt! 😀 good job, I love this series of Land Rovers. There goes Rick Astley! That made me laugh out loud 😂
Great advice! I have always gone the same way as most used vehicles need a bit of spending to get them up to par. I over budget on my maintenance costs.
Cracking video yet again sir!,
Well saved. One owner away from the scrap yard I reckon. Saved and turned around just at the right time of its life.
Since I've started watching your videos I've absolutely fallen in love with these Range Rovers. In the past I've never even thought about them, but now I keep finding myself constantly desiring one. Hopefully I'll be able to get a nice one in the next couple of years 🙌
Thanks as always for the great video, really appreciate your work.
I feel the same as you, and I can’t stop myself watching the Range Rover videos. My heart wants one but my head tells me NO. It’s killing me.
@@stevet5248 Don't, they are always driven by fat bald men with wives with daft lips thinking they are flash in a 3 grand money pit.
Very wise words from HPA regarding not just buying the vehicle, but having deep enough pockets to keep it correctly maintained. As ever, excellent informative video.
Excellent advice, Matt. And, right off the bat, whoever buys it will need to get a 2nd key for it. Can't imagine that'll be cheap. Even on non-luxury cars from non-luxury brands, that's very pricey. Just peace of mind, really. One key, anything happens to it, you're screwed.
Good point, but one way of getting a genuine replacement for next to nothing is check the insurance policy. A lot of insurers include key cover as part of a comprehensive policy or for an extra fee (usual quite small, under 20 quid or so). Claiming on that should not burst a NCB either. It is a bit cheeky and depends where you sit on the morals of it. but as the car would've originally had 2 then as the new owner you could say it is definitely lost! I've never done it myself but i always knew it was available on any policies I've had. I made my own for my old E46 M3 a few years ago by ordering a new style blank fob/blade and using a cheap Ak90+ programmer to extract the cars data from the immobiliser unit and write it to the new one. Saved near 200 quid by not paying BMW to ship one from germany. Couldn't believe how easy the whole process was.
@@sarcastixx74 yep friend did this when he got his discovery.
Brilliant! So transparent and honest! Love I! 👍😎
An other excellent and honest video; keep them coming Matt.
Very very rare and great find Matt!
i knew you would buy an L322 Westminster one day!
I love how honest you are Matt! :D
You just couldn't make it even few months without L322...
I never turn one down
Hi Matt great content as always
I actually have one 2012 Westminster L322 my alarm keeps going of running battery down Land Rover did a diagnostic on it said faulty passenger & Drivers door locks ? Would you know if this is common fault on them appreciate any info
Loved the video Matt. You’re right, that Westminster looks unreal!
Thanks
Rear tyres scream part worn to me... So yes, champagne taste but lemonade money.
Like the majority of these
Thanks for the video, I am looking to get a L322 and your thought process has been helping to listen to when browsing new cars
These are my favourite videos ! Thank you
Great find. Glad you saved it. I thought for a moment you'd keep it, but you have to make money. The love for Range Rovers is evident here
Always always informative and watchable.
Thanks
your best video yet. Great topic, great content, great presentation. Good work...
Thanks!
I just love you two, your both bonkers 😅
That's a compliment as I admire your can do spirit. Hope you enjoy every step, can't wait for the rest of the journey 😊 ❤
Great video - particularly the eclectic music selection in CD’s 😁
Amazing how LR engineered in a rotting tailgates & wheel arches as per the original. Genius 👍
Well done Matt, awesome car and totally agree with your sentiments
Owning any Land Rover is a labour of love but so worth it! Having a Discovery 3 Metropolis(250 made) 240k on the clock and never misses a beat on and off road, thankfully have a mate that runs a LR 4x4 garage😉 Great content Matt👌
As a Range Rover lover I can appreciate the TLC you’ve given to this baby. I needed it. And you’re right, it’s a real shame that it wasn’t loved by the previous owner. It looks sounds and I’m sure drives great now.
However... as much as I would like to buy one, I can’t give 12Gs for a car with 137K on the clock.
It would be £20k with half the miles
I smiled when you confirmed the A/C was working. I have never bought a car with broken A/C as it's never 'just' a recharge. It's usually an expensive compressor, condenser, or both!
Exactly! It’s rarely just a gas
Nice video as always. My favourite car the L322, a great weekend car!
Big up from Scotland 👍 and keep the video's rolling
Thanks!
Nice video mate! I borrowed a tool from a friend to check the temperature my coolant etc can go down too, pretty useful!
Hi Matt, another great video as always. I noticed the front tyres were larger than the rears (255/55R20 vs 255/50R20) before you changed them.
It is good to see how runs everyday, what kind of problems co.e, and how much to fix it. It like a book of the car, and help for other people to calculate if we want to own an L322.
Comgratulations from middle Europe! Countinue the videos please!!! :)
Love the fact it's a longer video! Covered my whole dinner 😄
Like anything else in sales, it's all about finding the market. The best thing you can do with this is to park it up outside Broadmoor with a 'for sale' sign in the window.
Another fantastic video Matt thank you….

Great video as always mate , love the Westminster l322 , the wheels just 👌👌
Still enjoying my 2012 TDV8 AB. only done 5000miles in it this year! Got deployable steps, still working atm 🤞 kids find them useful to get in and out 👍 agree with you on rear plate, need to fill the cut out,👍
Another Nice video! These are very tempting for me if we get winters in South sweden. 😎
This is a lovely car, you’re so right about it being parked in front of a council flat or a stately home it just fits. My favourite shape of RR I especially like the one Harry’s Garage owns.
Hi Matt such a stunning car always love them in black you really have worked your magic on this one great video hope you are well best wishes Ian
Mate I could so work with you.. love this video. Part of humanity is being honest. Love it mate .
Much appreciated
As always a great video. Be great if you let us know as and when this gets sold, or you keep / auction it off in the future. Cheers.
It's the same for the Discovery 3 and 4. They are now cheap so most people can buy them but few who do realise wha it costs to run them. I've owned 2 D3 and D4 and you've really got to love LR and be prepared to fork out to keep them in good fettle. Great to see your honesty and pragmatism about these beasties.
Very sensible advice regarding set aside money. Which is why I'm on my second faultless Toyota Landcruiser.
Great episode, Adam, some stunning carp.keep the place, too, yourself, or Easy jet won't be able cope with the surge in angling holidays too, Leeds Bradford
Great video as always matt👍
totally agree with you on the numberplate space.
Excellent pragmatic advice, as in all your content. The bit about the Skoda tickled me, just after I’d given my Dad, a double Skoda owner a ride in my L405, trying to tempt him on to the right path again 😂😂
Really enjoyed the video Matt. It is looking smart now - and agreed the front tinted windows just look wrong and cheap
Another great video!!
Excellent video 👏👏👏👏
Money well spent, someone will be very happy with this. I really enjoyed you stepping us through your diagnosis and recovery outcome. Glad to see your daily driver is an AB, much more civilised, but you should try to get your hands (or your head) on the pillow pack. I think I paid £360 to get an extra pair for the fronts, so not cheap, but they’re a comfort game-changer, thank me later.
I had to chuckle at your mechanic Matt, nice hub centres mind!!
