Sell it to somebody from wales, under 20mph will be perfect 👍🏻👌🏻

  • @hughjaars2285

I have a friend who is “worth a Bob or two” and runs an 08 Range Rover as his main car. I am sure it is because it is the most opulent show of wealth possible - he also buys pick and mix at cinemas so we are talking serious disposable income.

  • @alanstarkie2001

A couple of years ago we bought a 2007 4.2l Vogue supercharged. Only a quarter of a million miles on the clock! Probably spent £1500 on it but it seems perfectly reliable, drives like new and is supremely comfortable and useful. Sure, a bit heavy on fuel but compared to buying something on HP or lease, it's a no brainer. If we get another year or two out of it I'm very happy.

Hi Matt. I had my 2 EGR valves replaced on my Discovery 3 TDV6 (same engine) recently here in Switzerland and the 600GBP quote you received for each valve is way too much. An original LR one shoud be around 300 GBP, VAT included, and you can get for half that price an OEM spec Valeo branded EGR with all seals included. Check LR Direct, Rimmer Bros, LR Parts or Advanced Factors. (All UK based retailers)

P,lease, don't call yourself "idiot" , "moron" etc. You're a lovely man! and buying cars like this one makes a good content for us to watch

Typical mechanic, you can test an EGR valve before replacing it and you can see if the turbo has an imbalance by removing the intake pipes

  • @byeckfella

Even if you replace the EGR valves (which fixes it) and service it and tidy it up for the forecourt you’re in to around 3K inc purchase price. You might find someone daft enough to buy it for £3500 with 182,000 on the clock but then there is always the possibility of a phone call a week later complaining about the turbo blowing up. Or any number of other issues. Sell it for parts Matt. £1500. No come backs and 500 dabs in your pocket.

  • @chrisjames8547

I had the EXACT same issue, I got the cheap blanking kits for the EGR’s, an hours work on my drive and it resolved it completely! Before I had to make sure I could see a mile gap at junctions before pulling out, after the blanks were fitted, full power restored 👌

  • @anthonycollingridge970

Blank off both EGR's first. Straightforward and inexpensive task for your garage. Then see how it drives and then IF the turbo is shot, pass it as as a running project.

There is a reason Range Rovers depreciate badly, and this video sums it all up. Beautifully designed vehicle, delight to drive, well appointed inside and out, let down by ridiculously over priced below average quality parts. These vehicles seem to get to a certain age and mileage where the faults and failures overwhelm most people, even if you think you are keeping on top of it the next eye watering bill will quickly be around the corner. When you read out the receipts the story unfolded, the owner got to the end of their patience with constant high cost repairs that they likely punched the infotainment display or threw something at it then abandined the money pit. Land Rover are doing themselves no favours, these vehicles are seen as worthless junk after a certain age as they are just not built to last with over priced parts and complex time consuming repairs, this is why they depreciate like a lead weight after a certain age and mileage, nobody wants them. It's a shame, lovely vehicles to drive, sit in and look at but not salvageable due to depreciation and cost of repair. Break it or scrap it, it may be a cheap fix but whoever buys it off you will hate you forever when the suspension airbags go or the ECU's fry. Lexus do not have these issues, but I would say BMW and Audi SUVs are just as expensive to maintain.

Looking back through it's MOT history things seem remarkable clean. No different than some Hondas I've had.

  • @iandonkin6762

Ship it out to our CZcams friends LR Time and Christian will properly diagnose it before shelling out on ‘it could be this, it could be that’, replacement parts!

  • @davidbillberg2203

A Range Rover Sport for £1,000! This should be interesting!

"I bought a cheap ranger rover sport for £1,000"

  • @tonypet1518

Well Mr High Paek Matt, what an encharting video. Open to the fans for diagnosis and repair. Simple an amazing video content, with so much communication from your loyal fans. You have hit the nail on the head with this rover sport. Im fascinated by this wonderful story. Best of luck. Maybe you have turned a corner with audience participation. New year new ideas. What did you say about changing the format Matt.😂

  • @carllewis1022

Seems exactly same issue as the one I had which was Egr Valves. Ended up driving in manual mode to keep revs up. From memory paid £1100 and was all sorted. Had some nice cars since but genuinely these are one of the nicest cars to waft around in.

  • @johnhooton8299

It's great to see your love for anything Range Rover never clouds your decision-making, nor the fact it was only £1000 in the first place, but £1500 spent and a possible profit at the end looks tempting, as I have seen you do worse and spend more just to keep a classic alive.

  • @KevinJones-ye3vw

Matt .I worked on the development of this Engine at Ford Dagenham , & in my opinion it sounds like definitely turbo . However you might want to check the crossover pipe that links the Turbo to the other manifold , as they have a flexi piece in the pipe ,& have been known to rot out and split . However i would personally Break it and run the Shell in for scrap tbh

  • @cybershot123

Hi Matt some great feed back on this video could carry out some of the ideas to see if it works another couple of videos out of this one . Cannot wait to see spend or spares . 10/10
