He was a man ahead of of his time said is all that comes to mind...
I'm a much bigger Bowie fan than I am a Queen fan - and have been a Bowie fan for much longer. I recently rewatched Bowie's performance at Live Aid and, very unwillingly, I had to admit that there was no contest.
Queen outshone Bowie by so many orders of magnitude.
The uptempo live version of Heroes was the only one of his 4 songs that came anywhere near close to being as magical as what Queen accomplished
Joy you have just witnessed what people consider the greatest performance ever FREDDIE at is most imperious thanks for the memories Queen ♥️♥️♥️
There are some people, in their own special way, who just are.
Arguably the best musical performance of all time.
arguably
Deep Purple Live Copenhagen 1972
72,0000 people at Wembley, another 100,000 in Philadelphia, and 1,2 billion watching on TV globally. The Olympics have 3 satellites...Live Aid had 13. I wasn't a Queen fan at all, but after that day..I was lol! The world for Africa!
I remember it was very hot that day in Wembley Stadium July 13th 1985 but it was worth it, best day in my life! 👏👏🇳🇱
I've been a Queenie for 46 years and I've seen Queen live in 1975 and watched hundreds of reactions and your reaction is definitely one of my favorites.
Some say this is the best live performance ever in the entire history, RIP Freddie ...
As an old rock fan, I have to say the most entertaining band. Live and the album's.best band ever as well as best front man.
I was one of the lucky 120,000 to have been at Queen's very Last live concert at Knebworth in 86 😇😇😇
The man was simply a superstar.
Freddie Mercury could be seeing about how to make toast and you’ll listen to ever word
You’re right @Jacob Marriott, Freddie is so entertaining
Great Reaction and that show was so wonderful considering that Freddie was sick and disobeyed the Doctor's advice to NOT go on and that they only came in as late replacements and they were one of the TWENTY+ Groups that day and that marvellous audience was there for ALL the Acts and was not a "QUEEN" audience, as such :)
For 21 minutes that day, Freddie Mercury had the audience (and the world!) in the palm of his hand.
One word: Mesmerizing
It IS considered the best performance of all times!
Beatiful reaction darling!... Queen the best
There will only be one Freddie Mercury RIP to a legend!!! ❤❤❤🙏🤘
Freddie was A shining ray of light, he loved us & we loved him back.
YES. Watching this with you makes this sweeter. I'm so glad you get to see the showman in him.
Wauw, most beautiful thing I have ever seen.....and Queen is also not bad
Yes, 1985, the best live performance of all time. And just imagine that Freddie was sick and under doctor’s to not do this? This is Freddie Mercury sick and he sounds better than everybody else there that day and most performers on their best days. He is very much loved and is a legend and I suspect will be for a very long time. They rehearsed though and so many others did not (and it showed.) They filled up their allotted time and timing to absolute perfection. So much going on in this concert, I believe Freddie was fully aware the cameras were on him and he stood near other band members to make sure they were captured on television. There is also a video on CZcams of them rehearsing for this performance, it includes an interview and is a MUST see. Also there was an encore, “Is this the World we Created” with just Freddie and Brian on the guitar and it is also a must see. You will cry so prepare yourself. There is also a song called “One Vision” about MLK, there is a documentary to go with that (available on YT), includes interviews, snippets of their process and how they came up with the words to that song. Also a must see. There is a moment that Freddie laughs and it is absolutely priceless. Then when they perform “One Vision live” also one to react to. So many fantastic and different songs from this band. All four wrote number 1 hits. If you want to hear Roger (drummer) doing a solo, “I’m in love with my car” is a must see, his vocal range is also spectacular and he has a lovely rasp to his voice. “The show must go on” honestly with Queen and their back catalog there are so many songs that you will be surprised you know that are by Queen. They are used everywhere, even today. Loved your reaction!💗
I've seen Queen 4 times live here in the Netherlands... all shows were great... and freddy is the best entertainer ever ... great reaction Joy.
You look beautiful .. *MY QUEEN!!*
The impersonation of the King was nice.
I remember all the other bands that were due to come on stage afterwards all said the same thing "How the hell do you follow that?" The whole live aid concert was a huge success mainly down to Queen and the unique Freddy Mercury.
I think it was David Bowie who immediately followed Queen and supposedly he said "You b..tards, how can I follow that?" But he did a great set too. Still, Queen was the band everyone was talking about the next day.
@@mikephillips8810 Elton also Said: no one needs to go on now. You were absolutely brilliant.” Freddie responded: yes Darling we were. And What are you wearing you look like the f Queen mother
But David Bowie was the follow up, the only one who could pull it off and he did.
His name is Freddie!
Everyone else just turned up and played 2-3 songs. Queen planned it. And practiced it, down to the second to do a medley of all their greatest hits
Africa’s most famous rock star. A legend. There will never be another like him.
There is no equal ! Period !!
Hi Empress 😊 During "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", Freddie was kind of fooling around doing his Elvis Presley imitation 🤣😂🤣
Beyond that, I have to thank you once again. You see, I was tackled by a thug the other day and knocked in front of a car. Nothing too broken, but at my age, I don't land like I used to. Soooooo, thank you for that smile that crosses oceans and makes me glad I'm still alive and able to enjoy your reactions. 👼🕊️🌹
Easily the best band of the whole of live aid.
@Rob Smith, I’m not surprised, it’s well deserving…
other bands there were pissed off... queen got all the attension and support from the fans there... nobody talked about the other bands
Oh freddy had laryngitis. ( a troat infection) that day . ( the show must go on . )
Yes, which makes this performance even more impressive. 😘
@@bowtangey6830 agreed completely
She is beautiful
Wanting to comment on Queen:🤘🏽
Seeing EJJ:😍
I loved watching you enjoy this so much!!! Singing along with the audience was precious!! 😊🌹🌹🌹
Dying from Aids ..still a master. I still cry in Nov it was 30th years since he passed
..extraordinary! Beautiful performance.. ..and You are beautiful too..
2nd best performance of that day is U2 ...really worth reacting to X :)
The kiss he blew during Bohemian Rhapsody was to his Mum, Dad and Sister who were watching on the T.V apparently.
Queem forever
Yes 🙌
OMG OMG, my mind is forever blown, snore....
Freddy was a god on stage...and backed by a band brought together by a chance encounter that was perfect for him
he said she leaves me in a cold, cold sweat. he was trying to imitate Elvis
I thank you sincerely for this reaction, it was a joy to watch the pleasure on your face at the realisation you knew some of the songs. Ayyyyoh.
A powerful reaction to a powerful concert performance.
i have to say, i have fallen in love with ya and your reactions. the reactions are just so genuine free. i was a little surprised you knew some of the songs but it's hard not to have heard them before. the dude is a legend. i have this live aid on cd. this was my favorite part when queen came out. one of the best performances and arguably the best. this guy has so much great stage presence and control. he owns it.
It is the greatest live performance in music history. And I was there at Wembley. WE KNEW. then and there. During the rest of the day it was all about Freddie. It simply blew us away. nothing else compares.
and Freddy had OVER stayed timewise. the entire Charity Gig was crazy. If only you knew the context. It’s even greater a performance.
Funny this was the first concert i ever saw ( i was very young ) all hail the empress
@Shane Nolan, greetings to you dear 🙌 You’re so lucky to have experienced this ☺️
@@EMPRESSJOYJEAN and to you .( greetings)i was , it was such a huge event. The world was watching. I think 1.8 billion people watching on live television
Love for music in your eyes. No more to say.
He blew the kiss to his mum
Joy, I came from NYC to see Freddie n Roger n Brian and Queen at Live Aid I was 17 my Foks lost their shit. I cannot tell you what it was like but Amazing to have been there. I had seen Queen on their first US Tour at MSG in NYC and in also in Canada. That was the best show I have ever seen in my life, and I have seen Some of the best musician ever, this was hands down the best I have ever seen live in my life. But this was EPIC RIP Freddie
One of the ABSOLUTE GREATEST performances by ANY band EVER. Love you and miss you FM. Still so sad that you had to leave us so soon.❤️👑❤️
im so glad you watched this! everybody should!!
I love the look of admiration on your face ☺️
I Want to Break Free is an excellent Queen pick too
it was a lovely live performance, not a fault. Thanks for sharing xxx
This woman is beautiful
It was said, that on that day for 30 mins Brittain was ruled by another Queen ...
His parents were Parsees (Indian Zoroastrians) That is one of the world's oldest monotheistic religions. (Interesting? To me, 🤓 and perhaps to others.) Also, he was born on the African island of Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania.✨⚡⚡⚡
Have you done Queen's "Love of My Life", live yet? Empress, if you haven't, I suggest you have tissues near at hand, it's very beautiful. 👼🕊️🌹
Great reaction, awesome to see someone be so touched by a performance as I was.
you are BEAUTIFUL...
One of the best reactions I´ve seen lately
Great to watch this again, with you! 🙂Both you and Queen are amazing! Thank you!
Wonderfully emotional reaction as it should be.
Love your emotion and reaction :)
The best singer ❤. I cant imagine.. it takes alot to listen to Freddy
I never get tired of watchin this video. RIP Freddy. U were the best performer ever, period. U still are. ❣️
Love him, love your always genuine reactions 💕
WE R THE CHAMPS!!!!’n
Queen's guitarist, Brian May, has a PhD in astrophysics.
Lets not forget this was a time when being gay was frowned upon, everyone knew Freddie was gay & nobody cared, they loved him.. This was huge for the people affected by aids & that time period.. Freddie was such a brilliant performer.. This is the video used to show how to use a stage & work a crowd.. RIP Freddie..
Freddy is one of a kind....amazing. I enjoy your videos...admire and appreciate your style.
I watched Live Aid just to see Queen and I was not disappointed. It was the best twenty minutes I can remember watching a band and I have been to over 100 live shows. This was the greatest live show I've ever seen even though it was on tv. (R.I.P.) Freddie Mercury just a great human being and the best front man of all-time.
The Live Aid concert was simulcast to billions of people around the world. The best performance in that concert, Freddie owned any stage he walked on to.
omg i love freddie mercury so much..what a tragic loss he was one of a kind with such a powerful voice
That kiss at the end was for his mum.
Your reaction is amazing! This was such an extraordinary performance. There were quite a few problems with the sound at Live Aid, and no bands had time to soundcheck properly, they just had to go out there and do what they could. And my God, did Queen perform that day!
I love this clip so much.
What a great reaction video. Queen were brilliant live. The world lost a true gentleman when Freddie passed away.
Your joy shines through each and every video you produce. It a pleasure watching you enjoy the music.
Keep up the great work you're doing.
Xxx
Glad to see you are enjoying yourself that's what music is all about, have fun
That smile …them lips
I was at Live Aid. The thing that still stands out most to me was the handclaps on Radio GaGa. As we were doing it I was actually thinking that I’d remember that moment til the day I died. It’s rare to have that thought about something at the very moment it happens.
The kiss he blows was for his sister.
Oh man God bless.
Freddie says, She knows how to rock and roll, she drives me crazy, she leaves me in a hot and cold fever, she leaves me in a cold cold sweat.!
You're beautiful empress xx 💖
Beautiful reaction🎶💟 Freddie Mercury and than bring the whole band in together.. Queen who are Amazing
Legends 🎶👑❣️
I'm quoting another commenter on another reactor's channel here, however, when asked asked which of the many instruments he played was his favourite, Freddie replied; "The audience Darling" 72'000 people in the palm of his hand.
Joy-Jean, Thank you so much for loving Freddy at Live Aid, I was at the concert 41 years ago, I will be 69 in august so figure all 72,000 fans in that stadium and all over the world are my age and older and to see someone young like yourself enjoying it and singing with it makes me smile and laugh. Also all the other bands said Freddy stole the show. Did you also know that Freddy's Doctor told him not to sing that night and to cancel due to his throat not being up to it, Of course Freddy ignored the doc.! Thank God Freddy did what came natural to him.
Apologies to you lassie, I commented earlier on Freddie but drunkenly forgot to thank you for what you do.
I just wanted to thank you for your videos, they bring a smile to me in troubled times.
Try Enya, Orinoco Flow if you haven't, lovely.
Be well, not just you but everyone else too. Cheers from Scotland 🍻
Sorry, just found you; so, I’m late to the Comment Section! I’m a 66 y/o Glamma. You seem to enjoy the background of things. And, I’m a Trivia sponge, so here goes: They had just completed a Tour a month b4. So, they went & rented a Stadium to practice the performance. He ended up with a Throat Infection & the Doctor highly recommended he not do it bc he might lose his musical ability. He said no! Can you tell he had a severe throat infection? Most people think he was drinking booze from the cups bc on the piano. He’s drinking Honey & Tea. His command of the Audience was more than coincidence it was miraculous. Considering there were so many people there the sound was getting absorbed through them. So the people @ the back we’re following his hand gestures bc the actual sound hadn’t even reached them b4 the next sound was coming @ them. Go back & watch what his hands are doing & what the Audience is doing. NEXT: Radio Gaga is celebrating Radio bc M-TV is just getting started. LADY GAGA was a huge Freddie Fam growing up, so That was where she came up with HER STAGE NAME! You have to listen to the words to really understand the meaning. Most of us didn’t have a clue what a Band looked like unless we saw them in Person!
NEXT-MICROPHONE. At sometime along the way a Microphone Stand broke, so that was the only spilt second solution they could come up with. He realized the freedom he had to move, dance, & engage the Audience.
NEXT MICHAEL JACKSON & ELVIS CONNECTION on Song THING CALLED LOVE: It was written as his homage to Elvis-Freddie was a big fan. But, he just wasn’t sure about the song bc he didn’t want to taint Elvis. SO, he played it for Michael J. (Yes, they were friends!). And Michael told him he HAD TO, he said “Freddie, you have to”! (Can’t you just see that!?).
NEXT FREDDIE’s VOICE. HE HAD 4 extra teeth so that’s the reason he had such an overbite. He had the ability to naturally flow from Octave to Octave. It was a natural progression, for him.
SCIENTIFICALLY: Test were done on his Voice. He was able to use his Throat muscles on either side of his vocal cords. Which is normally seen in some Opera Singers. His Vocal Range was from Low Bass F, to High Soprano F! They were extremely surprised to find out that he could go from about 92Hz to 784Hz, effortlessly! See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW:
nyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since. His ability to blend highs, lows and mid range notes cohesively and with immense precision. This skill was due to the fact that Freddie was able to create faster vibrato and harmonics than any other singer at the time. Not only this, he was able to shift through registers effortlessly. Although he naturally held a baritone voice, he primarily sang as a tenor and of course had no problem then shifting into soprano parts. One study on Freddie’s vocal range even confirmed that he was able to vary from about 92.2 Hz to 784 Hz, meaning he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves!
LAST FUN FACT: His Lead Guitarist is playing on a Guitar he & his Father made. When he first starting to learn they were too poor to afford a high end guitar. So, they just made one! The included some “extras” that would normally have to be separate instruments to get all those features (think Concerts when you see guitarist changing Guitars depending on the Song….that’s why he didn’t)!
I’m sorry to take up your Valuable Time, and I thank you. You need anymore Trivia I’m your G’Ma go to. My Brain is full, especially with music, & believe it or not Sports!
(When he is waving his arm it is to tell the cameramen which way he is going bc he’s moving around so much. And, “We Will Rock You”, is actually a Prelude to “We Are The Champions”. It is actually all 1 Song!)
LEAD GUITARIST: Brian May’s family couldn’t afford a Guitar so he & his Dad made it from an old Cabinet. Because they were making it there are a lot of extra features that he wanted. It is truly a “one of a kind”!
Judging from your reaction at just over 2 minutes into your video, I think you noticed, but having seen the movie Bohemian Rhapsody a few years ago, it made me notice that he gave a kiss to his mum like he said to her he would ... Lovely.
The difference in his music and today's music is he had to sing it without all the added tech today that can make a roach sound good.
Such talent….. Queen not bad too 😉
And he sang at Live Aid against doctor's advice. He was having some serious trouble with his throat... he already got H.I.V. but he didn't know that, but despite this his performance was out of this world.!!! Freddie and Queen stole the stage with the grestest live performance of all times. 🤘🤘🤘🔝🔝🔝❤❤❤
Anyway, your smile when you hear "Bohemian Rhapsody" is a miracle, you're so beautiful... 😍😍😍❤❤❤
Freddie wasn’t diagnosed as HIV positive until 1987. This concert was in 85. Don’t go by what you saw in a movie…
@@dougbarton4668 I'm not following what the movie said, at the time he already felt not so well, and the fact that he was diagnosed in 1987 doesn't mean that he got it then. As you surely know the diagnisis tells what, but you could have got it months or years before the diagnosis...
Another great live performance you have to do is Australia’s best performer John Farnham singing HELP live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra.

Did you know Freddie was from Africa? He was born on the island of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania.
Awesome, I can't say anything better 💕💕
I love her reaction. She didn't know we are the Champions was Queen. I know that feeling too.
