I love looking at the data behind the scenes that runs the infrastructure that no one thinks about.
I am a big train fan and I found how to capture and view all the communication between the locomotives and the ground devices and the base control towers connected to the national rail networks
It is amazing once you get all the information on what each bit represents.
And there is so much going on that no one working on the railroads ever think about.

My question is why does Microsoft need to collect all this telemetry data? Linux Mint is able to improve its product without having to constantly collect my activities. When I was on Windows 10, I know that a lot of it was set up to use Microsoft's apps and it had to allow access to various things to do that. You could uninstall/turn off Cortana and Skype (through CCleaner) which was nice. I just think Microsoft lost my interest when they tried to move away from a "power user" type setup like XP and 7 and more to a "mobile operating system" like 8.1, 10 and now 11 with all the services tied in, constant connectivity and these AI/assistant things.

@@mugwump-bk7os Telemetry data has very little that would be worth buying. It's just their new and "improved" version of early warning and early optimization. The former is a replacement for the old crash dumps that you sent when things went south, and was focused on what app x was doing when it went bad. With TD you have a wider view of everything that was going on BEFORE app x went bad. With some modeling you can figure out if it's just some spurious event or if something correlates with another, which can tell you early on if some underlying factor is affecting other things. And not limited to crashes either. If you detect slowdown consistently correlated with other things, either it's a) normal and expected or b) abnormal and should be looked at. This will be part of early optimization, which also includes things like access patterns. If 90% of people have a certain access pattern, that's the critical path you want to optimize, not the other 10%. Knowing how (most) people do things let's you better allocate resources to the "right stuff".

It's sad that people have become conditioned to think that constant network activity is normal. Windows wants to check your location for things like the time and language settings? OK, connect to the server, check it, and then disconnect. Unless you're actively connecting to sites, there is absolutely no need for Windows to be making constant connections to the net. When your computer is sitting idle, your network activity should be ZERO.
When you connect a printer, does your computer just randomly print stuff? When you connect a monitor, does it just randomly send images to the screen? So why should it be normal for there to be constant network activity in the background?
It's like people today thinking that programs needing 16-32GB of memory is normal. No, it needs that much because nobody today bothers to include any kind of memory management in their programs. They just assume that memory is infinite. This is like turning on the tap to fill the sink with water, and then going out to a movie without turning it off.

Yes, I would like to see both how I can stop the required data from being sent as well as any videos on how to stop any and all unnecessary things from being sent back to Microsoft or anywhere else for that matter.

I am ahead of the game here as in Jan 2024 I paused my updates until 18th Feb 2024 [maximum length Microsoft would let me] then using the time I had to figure out a workaround.
I bought an Android tablet and have adopted it as a secondary system for handling uploads and downloads. I stopped Microsoft from installing that bullhitsa update [KBC...441] and have avoided having Co-pilot AI from invading my laptop.
My laptop has been off the Internet since 17th Feb 2024 and is doing fine as the Android tablet is handling all the online stuff [transfers to my laptop done by USB umbilical] and I am relaxing sipping iced coffee as I watch Microsoft filling its pants with 💩 more with each passing day...
    Thanks for the video, Lirov.😎👍

It is very unclear to me how the FING (wired desktop) program can block the traffic to and from my phone on the Wifi network, as this would be only possible on the router. I checked their site for 5 minutes and I read the FAQ, but unfortunately this question was not answered.

Yes Please teach me about the registry. When I 1st got windows 10 I did turn the updates off but they finally forced there way in. So I paused them until I couldn't so I would disconnect from the internet on that date when I went to bed. It's like a game & I think I'm winning.

And Gov uses them to collect data too. Everything is being spied on
No matter how secure you make it.
Also the chip already has backdoors built into chip. From the factory.

There is actually a way to turn of most of data collection form Microsoft using the group policy editor you have to go to computer config Admin Templets Windows Components and go through this list and turn off all the things that you don't want Microsoft collecting and this want also break your PC as if some changes you made that you don't like later you can turn them off or on again in group policy editor and also here there is Group policy edit that you can do to fully turn off Diagnostics and Feedback and there are open source projects to get group policy editor on Windows 10 or 11 Home

You could also run a firewall in your home and block all of it from communicating out.
