    I like the battle report, a good mix or narrative and just normal gameplay, clean shots, simple yet very nice to watch. A perfect mix.

      I disagree- it's a terribly open shooting range. It really needs LOS blockers in the middle for some Obscuring between Drop Zones. And vantage points (with cover!) in Drop Zones? It shouldn't happen, really.

    I love your battle reports, the perfect mix between standard battle reports and narrative battle reports.

    Really good battle report, nicely filmed and really great painting on the models and the terrain
    Couple of points -
    vantage only ignores light cover conceal orders, not if they are behind heavy cover - don't think it happened any point but was something that I missed when first playing.
    In death atonement - the operative doesn't count as being injured so retains full move/shooting skill - however they can't fight in melee.
    the ork comms boy has a special rule to do a mission action or pick up action for free once per turn, so he could've used the objective marker on the first turn
    Did I miss when barricades were placed?
    veterans were limited with not having comms to broadcast sergeants orders so everyone had to be way too close and they had to give up a flank early, plus I think grenade launcher or plasma gunner would have been better than the melta in order to to have a ranged threat.
    Generally you want to avoid having easy vantage points in/near deployment zones as if terrain is too open then shooty teams have a big advantage over melee based teams. Try putting the vantages so the side without cover is facing the centre of the board (makes it a risk to use) and/or using other terrain to block their sightlines (so you have to consider if it's worth effort of climbing) - in this one you could have switched the cargo containers into the middle of the board to block sightlines and put the central trench system on that side instead plus then maybe swapping the terrain on one of the flanks so a vantage was in middle or more towards guard side.
    Some of the octarius missions have good terrain setups - see search and retrieve, fuel run and supply drop which I've enjoyed and think are fairly balanced

      Thanks! Lots of great pointers here. We do barricades and all that before the game to try to cut time out of the report. Good terrain recommendations. I just finished the Octarius terrain so we can start using some of those setups and missions. Afterwards it was very obvious that the Gunner and Rokkit Boy had an advantage from up top. Definitely noting the grenade and plasma! Cheers!

    Another fun report! Without those 4 auxiliary guardsmen, it really seems like the Kommandos have the advantage. Of well, it’s not like Krieg boys have a pension to look forward to!

    Turn 1, you moved the flamer model into range to roast 3 boys and I thought it was game. Forgot he had a lasgun that just looked like a flamer

      @@MiniatureGameMontage the Corsairs are nice models! I don't think I did 'em justice. Too bad they're only average at best from what I heard but I look forward to playing them. My Felarch I'm thinking is from Biel Tann but he decided their goal at restoring the Eldat empire is stupid so left to fight the bigger fight, Chaos. But he's also a pragmatist so has his band be mercs for the Imperium and Tau once in a while as well as pirates when they really have to.

    You forgot the stun critical effect on the bruiser. The critical hit should have been a stun and remove a normal hit from the ork.

    Just getting into killteam with some friends; a quick question:
    Are crit hit rules additional to normal rules? The reason I ask is because would’nt a crit hit with long-las inflict 3 wounds plus three mortal wounds for a total of six wounds?
    Most weapon profiles have crits doing either 1 more wound or double. Meltagun profile of crit hit for 3 wounds plus mw4 would make 7 total wounds in a crit compared to 6 wounds on a normal hit. Long las would be 3 on normal and six on crit, effectively doubling damage on a crit hit. Or am I misunderstanding crit rules?

    • @MiniatureGameMontage
      @MiniatureGameMontage  Před 2 lety

      Welcome! So the way I understand it is MWs are applied immediately - before you resolve hits. So you crit with a MW3, you immediately apply 3 damage and then go to resolving the hits. I hope that’s right! 😂

    • @douglaswallace7621
      @douglaswallace7621 Před 2 lety

      @@MiniatureGameMontage So, for example, if a sniper vet gets one crit hit, and the intended target rolls no saves, would the intended target suffer 3 mortal wounds, or three wounds per the long-las profile plus the additional three mortal wounds from the additional crit rule found on the weapon's profile for a total of six suffered wounds?
      Same for the melta gun for vet guardsmen? Would the intended target suffer four mortal wounds, or three normal wounds plus four mortal wounds for a total of seven wounds?

    • @MiniatureGameMontage
      @MiniatureGameMontage  Před 2 lety

      @@douglaswallace7621 so I “think,” and bear in mind I’m not an expert, you apply the MW damage first. Before doing anything, apply the MW damage. Auto 3 wounds or whatever it is. Then you would still retain those crits for additional damage. So a crit MW3 could hit you for 6 damage in your example with the long las
