I worked as a customer support agent for 3 years and I can honestly say that a cancellation of someone's direct debit did not at all trigger a response on our end. The customer simply received the next bill via mail (which they never saw, of course) and then they called us. This is probably different depending on the company, but in my experience, cancelling your direct debit does nothing.

As someone who lived there 2006 in Williamsburg and how it is now with the river front, its just a really nice place overall.
I live in Nola currently and its the same thing, but it does make neighborhoods nicer and safer.
And as someone whos born and raised in NYC I've watched so many families i grew up around being priced out of their homes at break neck speeds and peoples livelihoods get uprooted because some white people from the Midwest want to feel at home. NYC is awful now and the natives hate the transplants more than ever- myself included

Growin up on a 1000 acre cattle ranch has definitely made me appreciate everything in life. I’ve run heavy equipment, chainsaw carved, certified tech in different mower companies and small engine companies etc. I don’t change. I’m on the same road I was when I left home at 17. I may be smarter now at 40 through life lessons, but I’ve never cared about fame or any kind of fortune. I’m just content with getting by. I drive an ‘89 Ford truck, I wear old Wrangler jeans, t-shirts in the summer, button downs in the winter, a raggedy Carharrt coat, a Stetson cowboy hat I’ve had since I was 13, and I keep two pairs of boots. Nothin is going to steer me off the road I’m on.
