    I have the domestic ego whipper snipper, mower and blower - I am on a 450 block too, with slightly more grass than you and I can get the whole yard done on that battery and still have spare power to use the hedge trimmer too.

    You are surgical with that trimmer! Bought one last month, but am unable to test it here in the US with snow on the ground. Had trouble getting the trimmer head cap off but maybe that's because it was too cold in my garage.

    Fantastic video (& cutting) Mr Turf and Tools. I have been watching a lot of your video's lately as our Australian Pro Gardner is just getting more & more expensive, so considering buying the main 3 gardening tools and doing it myself. But I am just curious to ask (anyone please), as I notice this doesn't seem to be covered much when watching Line Trimmer Review Video's. But how often do you usually have to replace the trimming lines themselves --- and is that very expensive on it's own, if you have to do it a lot?

    • @turfandtools
      @turfandtools  Před 5 měsíci +2

      If you are doing it correctly and regularly maybe every couple of mows, depending on the size of the place. It's really only when its thick and you're slapping the line on the pavement that it wears quickly. Line is inexpensive

    I've been considering this trimmer but with a rotary scissors setup. Just curious about the weight with the 5ah battery? For the average home, maybe 2.5 will do the job and lighter to carry.

    • @zaineridling
      @zaineridling Před 5 měsíci

      Weight follows amperage with EGO batteries. For example, the 2.5A battery weighs 2.5 lbs./1.1kg. And the 5A battery weighs 5 lbs. /2.25 kg.

    Bought my makita 36v whipper snipper 7 years ago never regretted the purchase. So powerful and just replace the battery when it goes flat no more worrying if I have enough fuel for my next job.
    Hated mixing fuel and the smoke it produced while using it.

    If anyone can do the maths, imagine having to walk and cover up to 25 km of flat edging, another with vertical edgers, with blowing if using same batteries, how long and how many batteries will be needed in a day..
    Nice job mate. Nice and tidy.

    Hi Tim, can I ask if you have any recommendations for a edge trimmer suitable for me, I am 75 years old and try to maintain the grass verge outside my home here in the UK, something battery operated and not too heavy, thank you Sandra

    • @RooftopKorean-gc4ig
      @RooftopKorean-gc4ig Před 2 měsíci

      Worx 20v trimmers are relatively lighter and smaller. They also include a nice wheel attachment too that can help with edging or using the trimmer to “mow” at that height. Only downside is that it eats through string like crazy.

    I have a 2 year old EGO ST1510T string trimmer with what looks like the same kind of mid bar quick adjust auxiliary handgrip. Over time my quick adjust handgrip has progressively lost its hold on the bar and now will slowly rotate while during use which forces me to have to pull and rotate the handgrip back into a usable position after 20 minutes of use. Are there any solutions to this issue?

    • @turfandtools

    If that is compatible with their backpack battery, then it would have a great run time - and a lot lighter with the battery out of the unit and on the back...

    Hi mate,
    I know you have a fair bit of the ego gear and would like your thoughts on this, I walked into my shed yesterday and noticed a solid red light on my ego hedger battery, the battery was still attached to the hedger, the battery was also extremely hot. However I had not used the unit in over a month?. Was a hot day also.
    Cheers

    • @turfandtools
      @turfandtools  Před 5 měsíci

      I am lucky to have not had any battery fails with ego yet. I’ve had them flash when they are too hot if I had it in the sun. Potentially it was too hot

    • @danielp3345
      @danielp3345 Před měsícem

      Ego batteries self discharge if left for a month and "go into sleep mode" but should be down to 30%, I was freaked out when I first saw mine doing it and it got pretty toasty.
      Edit: actually I didn't catch that it was a solid light, last time I made the mistake of shopping at total tools they sold me a over discharged battery and it (from memory) flashed a solid red circle. I wonder if because yours wasn't flashing it might be able to be charged up again.

      I just bought the select cut. It is a machine. I have really thick buffalo grass. I use to have Makita stuff and the ego just blows it out of the water. I also have the line trimmer and it rips man. The stuff is seriously powerful. My Makita use to stall a few times. The ego just powers through no problem. I can't recommend it enough.

    • @danielp3345
      @danielp3345 Před měsícem +1

      Same as the other reply except I have the 42 cm deck mower, eats the super thick buffalo for breakfast on my 613m2 block
      My ego carbon fiber shaft whipper snipper completely demolished my old boss' milwaukee trimmer. I actually couldn't stand using his and that's coming from a guy with milwaukee tools.

    Hey mate I have just recently started a lawn mowing business and I have seen a couple of people now wearing respirator/mask type things while doing the edges - can you tell me the reasoning for this? Is it just to stop dirt/grass getting in your nose or is there a safety element to it?
