- Slow-cooked lamb shanks are succulent, flavorsome and literally fall-off the bone. Smothered in tomato sauce which simmers away for hours, this recipe uses fragrant herbs which infuse the shanks and when cooked with time they become so moist and tender the whole family will devour them.
Don’t be overwhelmed by how long they take to cook as there is very little work to do - you just need quality ingredients and patience! Recreate these heavenly slow cooked lamb shanks at home and understand with every single bite why this is my 1 year old son Sebastian’s absolute favourite dish!

I love to eat Lamb Shanks with bread but many of you prefer to serve it with polenta, cous cous pearls or even pasta.

I love lamb! It can be hard to cook properly and I’ve never really tried. My mom always roasted a leg for Easter. We’re going out for Easter so I’ll order it, but I think even I can do this recipe. Cooking it slowly is the key. I would eat it with a good crusty bread. 🥰 The leftover sauce? Not a problem. Save it in the freezer for later. I love that your son loves it too. Kids should eat real food. Thank you Vincenzo! 💕

+1 amazing Video, Vincenzo. * That is a genious Recipe. * As a Yougster of 16 Years, I cooked my first Lanb Shoulder. I did it proveçal Style. I placed it in Redwine with Herbs de Provence, Garlic, Black Pepper, Bay Leafs and Cloves for a 24 Hours. Then I used a Sieve to get the Herbs out of the Redwine which I kept for the Sauce. The Shoulder got fried untill it was nice brown everywhere. I used Carrots, Onions and Celery during the Frying and also concentrated Tomato Paste. Slow cooked Everything for 4 Hours in Meat Stock with Salt and the Redwine. I Server it with Potato Gratin. My Parents were impressed. I love any Kind of Lamb.

@@vincenzosplate I was a young Cook as I were 16. Now I am 56 in May. I learned Regional Kitchen from my Mom and International Kitchen from my Dad. Both of them never worked as a Chef but they were very ambitious Hobbyists. My Mom cooked daily, my Dad on the Weekend. He teached me Asian Meals, French Meals and Italian Meals. However I'm not a by-the-book Cook, I use to very the Ingredients, I follow traditional Recipes like Carbonnara.

I love lamb, but some of the people I know don’t. I was wondering how this would be with beef or pork or chicken. I’ll bet it’s just as good! Seems like a great way to cook meat!

Could you do this in a slowcooker, transferring sofrito, meat, and sauce after the initial phase?
Yes you can, but it would be best if you just cook let it simmer down on the same pan so you can continuously check on it.

Why don’t you do the lamb first before the sofrito?
Thanks for the suggestion! I personally prefer to cook the sofrito first, as it allows the flavors to fully develop before adding the lamb. But everyone has their own way of doing things! 😊
@@vincenzosplate I was always told do the meat first then do the vegetables in the meat juices so it gets all that sticky meat goodness while it cooks. Guess it comes down to personal preference 😂😂😂
