Thanks for the video and thanks for the heads up, just bought one and am thinking of returning it and replacing it probably with a HJC RPHA 71 or a flip-up version because the Shoei sun visor touches my nose.

Ohhh I miss my C3, I have C4 now and all I’m happy about is intercom

I wore out my C3 Pro just as the European version of the C5 was released. I ordered one from the UK last year and have ridden with it for a few months. I wish I’d have replaced my C3 with another C3. And I’m super-happy I didn’t wait for the much more expensive DOT version. The visor slamming issue has scared the $hit out of me numerous times along with the major inconvenience of fighting with a stupid visor when I should be focused on the ride. I also have a slightly different issue with the visor latching; when I close it manually I don’t usually latch it, but it decides to “auto close” it does latch. And it’s surprisingly difficult to open it from the latched position. Also - Be aware the the fit between the C3 and the C5 is quite a bit different I have no hot spots with the C5, but it’s also quite a bit sloppier on my head for the same size 57. If you couldn’t wear a C3 you might find the C5 more comfortable (neglecting the noted issues with function). I’m a modular fan and I didn’t like the fit of the Neotec (in the showroom - not after breaking in). But I have found the AGV Tour Modular seems a more natural fit for my head. And from what I could tell none of the sloppy visor issues are present. We’re going to replace my GF’s Sedici modular helmet with the AGV Tour Modular very soon, so I’ll have a better comparison. My riding pals have all switched to Cardo Packtalk, so the integrated comm might be a little cleaner than the side-mount I’m using with the C5.

I too have a C5 and same issue with the visor not closing properly. I fixed the issue by shaving down the back tabs the visor is meant to clip over. While it fixed the issue, shouldn’t have that issue on $1,099 Cdn helmet. I don’t have the rattling issues you do but I do have the SC2 and one thing that I can’t seem to get around is that I can’t have both the intercom and music active at the same time. Very annoying!

I don't think I will be cutting anything after paying $850. Ill put up an update later, but my helmet just came back from repair, and issue with locking the vizor is still there - i was able to close it ones, and then the same issue came back. There is a major flow in design that wont be fixed bu just replacing the mechanizm. It has to be redesigned.

I bought the c5. I regret it every time I have to use it. The visor slams down at 50mph, the microphone is always on the way when I close the top. The visor vent clip at front keeps falling off, the paint is chipping off under the chin. I expected something better for $850 US. A complete rip-off.

I agree that so far the C3 Pro is the best, 2 riding friends and myself all bought the C4 with comms when it came out assuming it would be an upgrade, nope, it was terrible it was no noisy our ears were ringing for hours afterwards. Now they all sit on the shelf as we went back to our old C3 Pro’s, that’s a combined cost of $3500 wasted.
We are now checking the reviews on the C5 but it’s not looking promising, we’ll probably be switching over to the Neotec 2.
Looks like Schuberth isn’t even testing out their designs before sending them out to the public, for that kind of money they should operate flawlessly.

I tried C4 when it just came out, but, as much as i loved that carbon one's look and feel, it just did not fit me. i almost gave up on schuberth, but a friend of mine recommended to try C3 Pro... i glad I did - great helmet, great quality, and fits me perfectly. I know that a lot of people had an issue with C4 fitment fitment, so, as I understand, C5 was a fix to that. It does not fit exactly like C3 Pro, but i got used to it, no hot spots, just a bit looser on top sides...

I always ride with a small slit open in the visor so it’s perfect haha! I do not ride with open visor so the closing from wind is not an issue and the does not fully lock is not an issue too… (apart from when it’s raining)

Thanks for ur infos... i thought the c5 would be a good option after my 7 Years old Nexo helmet.
So i would better try the C3 Pro ? you look pretty happy with the c3.
I already tryd the Shoe neotec 2 for a test ride... its "ok" the fit is realy good, the air is also realy good, it keep cool in summer BUT the Sound of the helmet is realy bad... already at 100km/h my ears cry.

    • @shmontrostov
      @shmontrostov  Před rokem

Well... If Neotec 2 fits - go for it. I had Neotec 1 before C3Pro, it was great, but it was a time to replace it, and, for my huge disappointment, Neotec 2 did not fit - i got 2 nasty hot spots, related to the shell itself, i could not have it on for more than 2 min.... so i had to look somewhere else. I guess i'll wait for Neotek 3? :) To the noise - i dont think Schuberth is much better then any other high level helmets, it it just a trademark about nothing, so, ear plugs are our friends always... I don't even bother with that characteristic anymore... :)

I went with the Shoei Neotec II and it is not as good as my old C3 Pro. It is noisier (quite a lot noisier), the visor tab is only on the left (sit at the lights holding the clutch and your visor is very difficult to operate with the right hand), Visor removal is more difficult and the sun visor removal is "a black art", bugs can easily get through the top vent and crawl around on your head, the Coms unit, SRL Mesh, is buggy to say the least - multiple problems with locking up, not charging, etc. etc!
I think I'll go back to the C3 Pro as they are still made by Schuberth.

I really wanted to buy a C5, but the quality is a appalling. How can a company like Schuberth get things so wrong. I went for another Shoei Neotec 2, which has a couple of issues, but they are not quality related, more poor design thought.

The battery lasts for up to18 months. Btw. My C5 works like a charm 🎉

I am in the market for a modular, thank you for your video, as i was considering this helmet.
have you considered the new hjc rpha 91?
from the reviews, i see its the quietest helmet on the market.
