    My C5 had the same locking issue, I also thought about filing down those locking edges but instead I put a drop of oil on each and a year later still works OK. The helmet in general is squeaky. I had the issue of visor falling down in my previous C3 which I fixed by adding a pair of sticker bumps on the mechanisms to add more friction. My C5 doesn't require that yet, neither my very first C3 (I had 2 of them). Ridiculous quality instability for that price range. The only reason I am still sticking with them (wishing to find a VFM alternative) is that they are quiet helmets which can be found at good discounts.

    The lock is to pass ECE. The owner's manual says do not ride with the chin-bar up. I have a new C5 and do not have a faceshield/visor problem, so clearly the recognized the problem and fixed it in production.

    Thank you for this - I've had the same problems and since I didn't test the helmet much before a long trip there was quite a bit of annoyance. I think in addition that the "premium speakers" of the SC2 system just sound like what they are - small speakers far away. I will try your tip, and also another tip I found to make the "grip" on the visor a bit tighter : czcams.com/video/_RTyTagBQgc/video.html I agree that such an expensive helmet really should not have defects like these!

    I bought the c5. I regret it every time I have to use it. The visor slams down at 50mph, the microphone is always on the way when I close the top. The visor vent clip at front keeps falling off, the paint is chipping off under the chin. I expected something better for $850 US. A complete rip-off.

  • @LinzerOnt
    @LinzerOnt Před 9 měsíci

    I have a C5 and a C4 Pro and never had an issue with the C4. I can confirm every single issue about the C5 in your video. If anything drive me nuts is the complete closure of the main visor (or the lack thereof). I started disliking the C5 since I rode one day in the rain and the visor wasn't completely closing, allowing for rain to enter the helmet. The only available option was opening and closing the visor (in full rain) to finally get it closed as it should. Never mind the whistling sound on a dry day... Completely unacceptable from Schuberth as a premium helmet manufacturer.

    I went with the Shoei Neotec II and it is not as good as my old C3 Pro. It is noisier (quite a lot noisier), the visor tab is only on the left (sit at the lights holding the clutch and your visor is very difficult to operate with the right hand), Visor removal is more difficult and the sun visor removal is "a black art", bugs can easily get through the top vent and crawl around on your head, the Coms unit, SRL Mesh, is buggy to say the least - multiple problems with locking up, not charging, etc. etc! I think I'll go back to the C3 Pro as they are still made by Schuberth.

    same problem with visor not locking down snug. The clear protrusions on the inside of the visor on either side do not want to go down over the black plastic ledges on each side. I researched the issue and posted in a forum. One fellow said he took a fingernail file and lightly filed the clear plastic protrusions and that fixed it. So much for the grand German engineering. My Shoei Neotec 2 arrives in a couple days.

      It’s an easy fix guys. Place an O ring on each side of the visor (that fits securely inside circular piece of the visor) that fit into the helmet. It places enough friction to hold the visor up and pushes it out to allow the pins to lock the visor down.

    I wore out my C3 Pro just as the European version of the C5 was released. I ordered one from the UK last year and have ridden with it for a few months. I wish I’d have replaced my C3 with another C3. And I’m super-happy I didn’t wait for the much more expensive DOT version. The visor slamming issue has scared the $hit out of me numerous times along with the major inconvenience of fighting with a stupid visor when I should be focused on the ride. I also have a slightly different issue with the visor latching; when I close it manually I don’t usually latch it, but it decides to “auto close” it does latch. And it’s surprisingly difficult to open it from the latched position. Also - Be aware the the fit between the C3 and the C5 is quite a bit different I have no hot spots with the C5, but it’s also quite a bit sloppier on my head for the same size 57. If you couldn’t wear a C3 you might find the C5 more comfortable (neglecting the noted issues with function). I’m a modular fan and I didn’t like the fit of the Neotec (in the showroom - not after breaking in). But I have found the AGV Tour Modular seems a more natural fit for my head. And from what I could tell none of the sloppy visor issues are present. We’re going to replace my GF’s Sedici modular helmet with the AGV Tour Modular very soon, so I’ll have a better comparison. My riding pals have all switched to Cardo Packtalk, so the integrated comm might be a little cleaner than the side-mount I’m using with the C5.

While it fixed the issue, shouldn’t have that issue on $1,099 Cdn helmet. I don’t have the rattling issues you do but I do have the SC2 and one thing that I can’t seem to get around is that I can’t have both the intercom and music active at the same time. Very annoying!

There is a major flow in design that wont be fixed bu just replacing the mechanizm. It has to be redesigned.

    I really wanted to buy a C5, but the quality is a appalling. How can a company like Schuberth get things so wrong. I went for another Shoei Neotec 2, which has a couple of issues, but they are not quality related, more poor design thought.

  • @ericdvorak7030
    @ericdvorak7030 Před rokem

    I agree that so far the C3 Pro is the best, 2 riding friends and myself all bought the C4 with comms when it came out assuming it would be an upgrade, nope, it was terrible it was no noisy our ears were ringing for hours afterwards. Now they all sit on the shelf as we went back to our old C3 Pro’s, that’s a combined cost of $3500 wasted. We are now checking the reviews on the C5 but it’s not looking promising, we’ll probably be switching over to the Neotec 2. Looks like Schuberth isn’t even testing out their designs before sending them out to the public, for that kind of money they should operate flawlessly.

    • @shmontrostov
      @shmontrostov Před rokem

      I tried C4 when it just came out, but, as much as i loved that carbon one's look and feel, it just did not fit me. i almost gave up on schuberth, but a friend of mine recommended to try C3 Pro... i glad I did - great helmet, great quality, and fits me perfectly. I know that a lot of people had an issue with C4 fitment fitment, so, as I understand, C5 was a fix to that. It does not fit exactly like C3 Pro, but i got used to it, no hot spots, just a bit looser on top sides...

I already tryd the Shoe neotec 2 for a test ride... its "ok" the fit is realy good, the air is also realy good, it keep cool in summer BUT the Sound of the helmet is realy bad... already at 100km/h my ears cry.

    • @shmontrostov
      @shmontrostov Před rokem

      Well... If Neotec 2 fits - go for it. I had Neotec 1 before C3Pro, it was great, but it was a time to replace it, and, for my huge disappointment, Neotec 2 did not fit - i got 2 nasty hot spots, related to the shell itself, i could not have it on for more than 2 min.... so i had to look somewhere else. I guess i'll wait for Neotek 3? :) To the noise - i dont think Schuberth is much better then any other high level helmets, it it just a trademark about nothing, so, ear plugs are our friends always... I don't even bother with that characteristic anymore... :)

    Ive got to do this. Just bought the top box. My question is, you fitted them in 1 2 3 But isn't your key coded by a number? Not 1,2,3? otherwise all the keys will be the same ?

    • @shmontrostov
      @shmontrostov Před 9 lety

      Nigel Collinson Sorry man, I don't know the answer. My primary objective was to make it work. Security was not an issue. However, if I remember correctly, my decision was based, more or less, on the directions that came with it. But since it was cut, as I was explained by the dealer, specifically for my key (at least for my key batch), I am sure it is safe, and chances that someone's key will fit are pretty slim. Also looking at the groove in the key itself, I don't think you really have to many combinations to put those "things" whatever they called, in and have all of them completely hidden in the cylinder when key is inserted. P.S. Which number you are referring to?

    • @onahi2002
      @onahi2002 Před 9 lety

      Rostov OnDon Number ? When I get mine, and have fitted the keys Ill know all the answers. But right now its puzzling. I was expecting to fit the code keys 1, 2 & 3 in the order predicted by my Bike key number ?

    • @shmontrostov
      @shmontrostov Před 9 lety

      Nigel Collinson Ok. Lets see... As I understand, those inserts are cut per the key unique number (each one has a "tooth" inside of it that works with certain key groove). So yes, each set of inserts can identify 6 different sets of key. And the order in which you put those inserts in - you can easily determine it by looking at it and comparing it to the key groove visually. In worse case scenario you will have to reinsert it 6 times. :) So I guess I either got lucky from the first time, or they mark them right away per key number.

      @JosephMelia Před 4 lety

      There is another video for this..... czcams.com/video/mFoke2TS1O8/video.html The reason the plates are coded 1 2 and 3 is that every plate apart from the stop plate,(the unnumbered one on the end),needs to be flush with the cylinder when the key is in the lock......so you trial and error every plate in the lock and then,put the key in it.....If it is flush,it is the correct one for that position.....They are not numbered for order of insertion,just to differentiate them from each other.......The stop plate holds the lock closed.>All other plates stop any key that is not the correct one from entry,hence why all plates must be flush with the cylinder once the key is in the lock......

    • @lukaszcholyst
      @lukaszcholyst Před rokem
