Joe Hart's problem was he got mugged off multiple times for England and that sticks. Zlatan overhead, Italy shootout, Iceland embarrassment, 2014 World Cup losses, Scotland freekicks, thats his England legacy. Then add on top of that came the era of keepers passing from the back, ball control, keeper sweepers and none of that was his skill. He would have been alot more suited to an 80s or 90s era, but thats life.

Surprised that at no point did they talk about the fact that Joe Hart's problem was becoming somewhat obsolete when it came to the demands put on goalkeepers at the very highest levels of the game. You can't be elite and play at an elite club if you are totally unsuited to playing the role of 'sweeper keeper'. By all accounts that's why Pep didn't fancy him.
The game just happened to go tactically in a direction that didn't suit him and Man City outgrew him in that sense.
As Simon says (haha) he still had a very decent career by any standards.

    When a player retires...all of a sudden he's a 'great player'...🙄🙄🙄...
I'm with Simon...Hart wasn't special...Pep is as good a judge as any & he didnt think twice abt dropping Hart... 2 PL titles in a team already winning again doesnt prove anything...then Celtic winning everything in Scotland...but its basically a 2 horse race.
Keown even said Hart was the 1st person Pep dropped...so given their immense success since...doesn't that prove Pep is a better judge??
Hart & Kalvin Phillips, Ramsdale, etc etc in the same boat...not great...just decent.
& England caps mean nothing 75caps when his competition was Green & ageing David James & young Pickford...
Hart's career was 6/10..thats the truth...any other perspective is through rose tinted varifocals!

Simon he moved to Spurs to get game time, specifically to play under Mourinho in important European matches, where winning whilst resting your key players is an obvious factor. The real mistake he made was moving to West Ham and Burnley, clubs that didn't see his talent and left him to languish on the bench as a box ticking backup. The move he should've made with the advantage of hindsight was to go to Chelsea instead of Kepa, but poor England performance and the cold shoulder from Pep made that impossible. Luckily Celtic saw Joe Hart for what he is and always was. A talented, competitive, hard working, no-nonsense keeper and they've profited.

Hart, Kompany, Toure, Silva, Agguero.. that was a solid spine. If the ball got past the defense, city fans had confidence Joe would stop it.. we'd not had that before those years. But like other england keepers who made mistakes.. he got targeted by the press... before pep even arrived. Not including current keepers, Joe Hart was the best keeper City had for decades. He does deserve some credit for a good career before all the drama. City fans who saw the changes in the club over the decades know how good Joe was.

Joe hart is easily the worst goalkeeper certainly England have had. I’ve never seen a goalkeeper beaten so often from distance. It’s almost like he has mental block for 25/30 yarders. Credit where it’s due his reactions and reflexes are top drawer and he’s a good shot stopper if the ball is in his vacinity BUT if he has to move his feet or heaven forbid have to actually dive then he’s probably the worst I’ve seen.

@@jeanjacqueslundi3502 what shitty behavior, y'all emotional because he is British, if it had been any other goalkeeper we won't even be having this conversation. Shay Given was an excellent goalkeeper before he was injured and replaced with Joe Hart, who cared? Mark Hughes didn't want him as his number one and that was the end of the conversation. Pep didn't want him as his number one period and end of conversation. How many times have we seen managers come and replace players they didn't want? This is the norm and people should deal with it and stop acting like little kids whose toys have been taken away from them. Besides he had an opportunity to prove his worth with other teams in the premier leagues and yet he failed, so what is his excuse?
Ultimately what you are saying is he is weak-minded and couldn't deal with rejection, guess what great athletes have an unbreakable mindset, eg CR7, if u cannot deal with pressure and rejection in football then is a problem because players get traded off all the time. At some point, people have to take accountability for their own actions. The guy was excellent for a few years and declined after that. This has been the trajectory of most football players and Joe Hart is no anomaly.
