It is so true.
Jeepers Scoob “ninja catholic suicide bombers.”
A really subtle design decision I love about Hellsing is Alucard’s black gun, The Jackal. He asked Walter to make it for him after confronting Anderson and seeing his normal gun didnt inflict any lasting damage. The Jackal hits Anderson once in his left shoulder in their final showdown and the wound is lasting, unlike other wounds in the show.
The engraving on the Jackal also mirror’s a quote on Anderson’s glove. His gloves read “Speak with Dead” and “Jesus Christ is in Heaven.” The Jackal reads “Jesus Christ is in Heaven Now.”
All of this goes to show how much Alucard really thought of Anderson. Alucard, the strongest vampire alive, made a gun, specially crafted to deal with Anderson’s regenerator powers, to kill him AND engraved said gun after Anderson’s design choices. Alucard must have thought Anderson an actual saint and a truly worthy opponent to have planned ahead so much to kill him.
This show just has some fantastic environmental story telling.
Actually alucard wanted to die by his hands. Alucard wants to die by the hands of humans, which is why he is SUPER PISSED when anderson basically turns himself into a monster because now that he is one he no longer wants to die to him
Personally I love the detail of how Anderson always crosses his bayonets right side up as a sign of the Cross while Alcuard crosses his guns upside down, which while it;s not actually a sign of the devil is usually seen as one. Also there's extra irony in the fact the weapon he uses to hurt Anderson is called the Jackal since at least in the Omen films the Anti-Christ is supposed to be born from the body of a Jackal.
@@thefanwithoutaface8105 the reverse cross though not directly meant the devil, it does mean being opposite/lesser from god. There was a saint(i forgot his name) who ask to have a reverse cross because he thing he was not worthy and good enough to be in god eyes. I like to think Anderson thought it was so obvious that his name was Dracula spelt backwards that he assumed everyone else knew and never said anything because he was just so not intimidated by that prospect.
Which would show Anderson being full of himself. The Nazis knew about what exactly Alucard is. Anderson, as much as I prefer him as Alucard's final opponent, just straightup dug a grave for himself

Same here, honestly along with a huge chunk of Anderson's dialogue in this episode. If you'll forgive the rambling (especially on a 7 month out comment) I think it's because of how well Anderson does embody what it's supposed to mean to be Christian. (Yes in spite of the language and violence and whether or not TFS Intended it or not) Don't hold on to hate, forgive and try to understand and love others, help them decide they want to be saved, etc. etc. That kind of stuff is powerful no matter where it comes from if it's treated well.
Hate and understanding can coexist, after all. There’s people out there I can’t stand and can’t justify, but I know why they are the way they are. It’s important to know that, you miss so much if you don’t. Know thy enemy, y’know?

When the abridged version starts to show the less comedic side of Alucard and shows him as a calm collected Dracula then shows him filled with remorse for Anderson, that shit is gold.

“Don’t weep for the stupid: you’ll be crying all day.” Is a quote I desperately want to use one day.
I cry at least 60% of the time every time when Anderson asked if Alucard, Vlad Tepes the Impaler, will accept forgiveness from the God he thought betrayed him, because at the end, God's betrayal was an afterthought. Alucard would never have taken salvation from God simply because he hates all that God is. As he references, he's long since decided where he and God stand: far apart from one another.
Just like he asserts, Alucard is not Vlad Tepes of Wallachia, he is Alucard. He has forsaken his roots and history, damned his faithful human self to nothing while he continues existence as an immortal in spite of God's power. But at the end, when Alucard/Vlad face their end, they are reminder of a time so simple yet dear, when God had forsaken them, and they would never again look to "God" for help. Alucard would rather suffer an eternity without anyone understanding his true nature than kneel before God.
Honestly, kinda based
In the end, instead of asking God for forgiveness, he forgave himself instead.
Even so, even when Alucard was insulting God to his face, God never raised his voice, he never showed any anger; while Alucard may not have wanted it, God had obviously already forgiven him. God never disagreed with Alucard, never denied that Alucard was justified to hate him.
@@apollyonnoctis1291 honestly this is a very refreshing angle to look at the scene from I'm atheist myself but goddamn I love ur perspective on this lowkey wholesome although Alucard could've done without the pain lol
You're entitled to your perspective, but the way I saw it at the end was that Alexander had found his peace and forgiveness, and Alucard had not. Because he would not accept forgiveness given to him by god, he had determined to find it for himself.
This has had to be my favorite conversation in this comment section. An analysis and further discussion that gives me a new perspective on the interaction between God and Alucard that I had not considered, as well as Alucard's own character. Thumbs up for all y'all.
@@xelestial_sky If I may, agnostic former christian in thought, I think both are right. In this, God forgave Alucard. I know by most of the beliefs I've heard one has to actually ask for absolution, but hell if Anderson isn't pulling an "I'm asking for a friend" moment here, and the God I was taught about was all loving. I've heard an argument that hell is not the 'eternal torture' in a Dante-esque form but simply being separate from God by rejecting him, and when such is supposed to be the paradise of perfection, one *knows* it's actually there, anything less is perdition... and that hell isn't God rejecting the sinners, but the sinners rejecting God... kinda like how Alucard did at this moment.
Which comes to the part of Alucard had not. As you said, he would not accept anyone's forgiveness until he found it for himself. He hadn't even determined to find it for himself, it was the Major's plan that locked him inside himself, *forcing* him to clean things up. A third of his time being gone was him dealing with himself. And he said he tried killing the souls locked within himself, *especially* himself. Catholic friend explained to protestant raised me that all the process through confessional and the responses the priest orders isn't done because god requires it for getting into heaven, but to allow the sinner to forgive themselves to actually ask for forgiveness to God, that when feeling guilty and doing acts in penitence, you've acknowledged out loud what you've done and have done the punishment, thus hopefully removing the guilt.
Which brings an interesting question. Alucard after the last episode had to forgive himself, work past his guilt, become whole. After doing so, he'll still have this memory of God literally forgiving him without hesitation, and just being disappointed he didn't take it. Satan even going "Hey, it's a very fair offer." He might just have another time where he might ask himself, God did not say it was a one time offer.
It is the sacred duty of the Iscariot organization to punish the demon, the heretic, and the *false god* .
That line is so freaking bad*ss
"What are we?"

"Why are we necessary?"

“You were a good boy, Maxwell... shame you were such a shit man.”
Damn, that line gets me in the feels every time. I think we have all seen little boys and girls grow up to be addicts, liars, thieves... it hurts you to see them go down that road, but you also grieve the loss of who they were.
True so so damn true
Addicts aren't bad people, they're victims that lack proper support.
@@guinevereemilysummers9945 Oh for sure, but you still mourn losing the person who they were. My cousin, whom I love dearly, turned to meth around the time he turned 17... He is 32 now, skinny as a pole, teeth cracked or missing... sores everywhere on his body, and he doesn't want to change or go to a rehab clinic. We eventually had to stop inviting him to our homes because he would steal from other family members to fuel his addiction. I miss him and, while we do keep reaching out to him, we all hope one day he will be ready to change. It still hurts me to see who they were be overcome by who they became, and that was what Anderson was saying.
@@guinevereemilysummers9945 I mean, hard drugs are illegal right? How can you not be a bad person when you're outright breaking federal laws? And, out of all the addicts in the world, which do you think is the majority, innocent people who were tricked by a stranger with a drink/smoke, or people who sought after illegal substances of their own free will?
Honestly though, even the people who were tricked into drugs don't really deserve any sympathy. Stranger danger is a basic common sense. If you're old enough to go attend public gatherings without supervision but still have blind faith in strangers, then Darwin dictates that your genes should be allowed to die out.
@@kaiz1845 The mercilessness of your comment really struck me. Not saying i'm prepared to debate it but it certainly is a confronting take.
The delivery of that line.
"Everything you've said, everything you've done; I forgive you."
It's so subtly powerful yet full of remorse and understanding. It's like Alexander truly knew why Alucard was the way he was and genuinely thought sacrificing himself to let Alucard talk to God would help him gain some amount of inner peace.
In the end it did. Just took 30 years.
God may have forgiven Alucard, but Alucard can't forgive God.
I especially love Alucard's response to that.
Every time somebody shit talks him, he just responds in kind. But when Anderson says he forgives him, he seems genuinely offended.
Like, it's something he not only didn't expect, but didn't think was possible, and considering everything he did over the centuries, that pisses him off more than anything anyone can say to him.
main reason is ..that monster isnt alucard ..
it isnt Dracula
it isnt Vlad Tepes
nor is it Vlad the Impaler
