It's astounding how fearless Tien is in the face of literally anyone way stronger than him. He's already my favorite but TFS did him so much better than the original ever did

However the point was that if shin kikohou was strong enough to restrain semi perfect Cell, who was multiple times stronger than the androids even in his imperfect form, then it would probably do enough damage to the androids for Vegeta and Trunks to kill. Obviously it didn't damage semi perfect Cell, but he's also WAYYYYYY stronger than the androids, which is why it would damage them severely for another stronger fighter to finish them off

His Goku is also showing in this scene : as said somewhere else, he is pleasantly surprised at the deceased-by-suicide-in-his-timeline-Yamcha being alive, and he is nice to him multiple time - to the extent of what "nice" means for Cell.

The fact that they made Cell nice to Yamcha because he too knew Yamcha killed himself was more than just perfect and wholesome. Connssiiddeerrinnnggg cell was going to destroy the planet 😂
Later on when everyone is being destroyed by the Cell juniors, Cell even says that Yumchaa doesn’t deserve that to himself.
I like to think that in this universe, somewhere inside him Cell legitimately cares for Yamcha, even if just a little.

Anyway, Tien's Tri-Beam is called Ki Ko Ho in Japanese, and that's also what TFS used.
When Tien fights Cell (I think ep 47 or 48), he attacks Cell with a repeated onslaught of Ki Ko Hos and pushes him into the ground, annoying Cell more than actually damaging him. It's referring to that.

Honestly it's one of my favourite lines from the whole series. The amout of pure spite dripping from both of their lines is palpable.

Cell may be a horrifying sociopath, but it's weird how much respect he shows to those he actually considers worth his time. Like he has banter ready for the entire main cast and even keeps calling out Yamcha just for showing up.
And I just realized this is further underlined by the fact that when Mr. Satan challenges him, he immediately aims beneath the belt and is savage in his verbal thrashing.
Android 16 : "And for some reason I register 10 kilograms lighter", I finally got it , its because the bomb inside him was taken out and he couldn't self destruct in episode 60 part - I. TFS you genius bastards, excellent writing and continuity.
Love how Trunks and Gohan are both dressed like their dad.

This channel has a saijins anatomy. Every time it gets striked it comes back stronger.
I don't think anybody has noticed or mentioned this, but I like the part at the beginning of the episode when everyone's in a circle looking kind of depressed and Goku shows up. One of the first things Goku ask is "oh God where's Yamcha" who, in a different timeline, never made it to the fight. Goku does genuinely care about his friends, he's just not good at showing it sometimes.

I love Tien just reveals in antagonizing the villains when he is around. Even when he knows he outmatched he plays the emotional game. And went basicly undefeated in that. Never once did he beg for his life or go down without fighting. And of course his badass stand agaits Cell holding him down.
The fact it gets to Cell makes it even better cause he 'Could' just kill him and was going too, but here he doesn't try, just like with Vageta. Likely cause now that he's perfect he realizes that if he singles Tien out, Tien wins that mental battle. Why he seeths and never out right attacks him likely, he always collateral which he'll take. Minor character trait, but a great one.
TFS really added so much to the character to make them more then, we exist to get strong and make fight scenes.
The single best thing TFS did with this show is massively expand and improve on side characters. Tenshinhan gets a ton of love and deserves it, but think about Nail, Guru, Popo, Yajirobe, Nappa... great writing elevates everything, and man is this great writing.

Hah! Their interaction is oddly endearing seeing how everyone else seems to ignore or mock poor Yamcha.
I picked up on this interaction too after watching episode 58. Cell is actually nice to Yamcha when he says "Yamcha, for the love of God, don't thank him!". That awkward moment when the villain about to destroy the world pities you so much he tries to help you out xD.

Actually in this version he isn't. Maybe Cell feels he can be nicer to Yamcha because so far, all his biological 'Dads' have tried to kill him.
Is it confirmed, that he is not? Of course, they could not sense him, when he was powering up, but maybe his part is so weak, that it does not show under the auras of people like Vegeta, Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Goku and Krillin.
