CHICAGO BAND- South California Purples REACTION - Hudba
That's the best guitar player ever here.
Terry could pick it.
Why is it the best leave us early?
Where is here, Planet Earth? Anyone you may know from anywhere else???? 🙂🙃😉😊🤣🤣🤣
They were just great! It's just nice music. I love it💓. I'm glad you do as well. We all need more of it. Chicago were (are) great guys too. Music is transformative.😌😌😊
Terry Kath had so much natural talent it was unmeasurable. RIP TK💔🎸
Wow, you might be the first on the 'tube to react to this! Great choice! let me suggest their live version of "I'm a Man" from 1970 (at Tanglewood) as your next.
Best Jazz/Blues/Rock fusion song ever!!
The drummer is the incomparable Danny Seraphine.
Phenomenal.
@@connecticutweightlifting9450And still is
"I'm a Man" from this same album is one of the best jam sessions ever recorded.
Yes.... it is.
True, still prefer the original however!
Great album, but you already know that. Chicago started off as an activist band that figured prominently in the anti-war movement in the late 60's. This song was one of their jam tunes during concerts. I bet they recorded this live in the studio. oh, and kudos to me, the first to comment!
What the heck, this should have 50 x the views... minimum! This is an example of what made the 60s and 70s great! Awesome talent.
YES one of the greatest Debut alums of ALL TIME !! Titled "Southern California Purples" instead of Southern California BLUES
because so many songs had the word Blues in the title.....they switched it to "Purples" 5:54 he sings a Beatles lyric from "I am the Walrus"
"I am He is you are he is you are me and we are all together"
Cloudy every morning
Sun don't never shine
Cloudy every morning
Sun don't ever shine
Since I lost my baby
I been losing my mind
I thought this was a warm place
I must be in the wrong place
Thought this was a warm place
I must be in the wrong place
And I don't know where I'm going
Since my lover left me
Never no smile on my face
I am he is you are he is you are me and we are all together
Buddy, this ain't L.A.
I've traveled such a long way
Buddy, this ain't L.A.
I've traveled such a long way
And I still don't know where I'm going
But without my baby here
I better not stay
I better not stay
It was also the name of a type of lsd
@@michaelmelick8015 Yep!! Damned good too!
I hadn't heard that song in a long time. But you right Cash it is funky and the groove is on point. Thanks for reviewing this one...
The best blues, funk, rock band to come down the pike until Kath died, and the rest is top-40 history.
We must have the same taste in music lol
@@TarantuLandoCalcuLingus I believe Terry really was the best ever, in a certain sense, of course Jimi was the best ever, and Carlos, and Johnny Winter, depends on who I am listening too. But really, Terry had the most amazing chops and the entire band was so solid, it just can't get better. The live version at Carnegie Hall was maybe the best live performance I ever heard, but Jimi at Monterey, that is also beyond belief. Genius players genius bands, that was the day.
@@MrTennis88 I hear ya chuck lol I'd have to throw srv and double trouble live at the el mocambo to that list
Oh you did it Homegirl!!! I've never heard this!!!
Chicago is the Complete band
Two of the few keyboard solos Chicago ever recorded were on this album; this one and the opening piano solo on "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" Both song were written by keyboardist Robert Lamm.
Terry Allen Kath on guitar, my favorite guitarist of all time.
Chicago-introduction
I had tears in my eyes the whole time the same when the day that Terry Kath died.
I hadn't heard this one before, really like it. Gave me a bit of a Santana feel in places.
Recorded before Santana
Try the live version at Carnegie Hall 1971. Way more nasty guitar work by Kath.
The band would do well to let you sing on stage with them!
You go girl...you rock...real music lover...your the reason..i be rockin..
Off their class debut - agree you may the FIRSt to react to SCP by CTA. Rock on scribe !!!
Da Blues!!😎 cool! Oh man that Hammond, you just don’t hear that anymore...I couldn’t tell if he was using a Leslie.
Chicago is where I’m at!
Great and awesome! Loving the funky groove.
Funky!
Girl, love to watch you groove to one of my favorite old songs. You have a really fine ear for music! Keep on doin’ it
I played South California Purples on my gibson les paul guitar in 1972 with my 9 piece band "vesuvius" in front of 20 thousand people out door north park concert Fall River Massachusetts...the hippy days...
I love the early Chicago songs but I love all of Miss Scribe, every video is a hit with me!
Chillin' and Chips1 LOL
LISTEN next 🤘🤘
Poem 58 is awesome also
Listen to "Sing A Mean Tune Kid" from the Carnegie Hall album
Awesome! As Bob Seger would put it "today's music ain't got the same soul"
Yes, I'm old... I watched these guys live in concert in 1971. By the way hon, make sure if you do In-a-gadda-da-vida (17:00 min) you don't have a big bag of chips with you.
I get the munchies just watching you watch me eat potato chips and... hey, wait a second...
Eating potato chips and playing air guitar!
NO BAG CRUNCHIN'!!! love that freaking tune!!!!!!! 🤗💚💋🥂🦄😎🇺🇸
great commentary. you bring NOTHING to the table except snacks
I was a sophomore in hi school when this came out. It was really hard listening to album music. Hardly any FMstations. Couldn’t afford to buy an album. Had to depend on friends.
Have a listen to the seven song suite "Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon" from Chicago's second album. That suite includes the hits "Make Me Smile" and "Color My World". Guitarist Terry Kath sang lead vocal on both and his soulful baritone voice will knock you out like his axe playing did. And the way you enjoyed Danny Seraphine drumming before, his playing on "To Be Free" in that suite will Blow Your Mind!
A rare song that was not recorded until about 1977 was Mississippi Delta City Blues. Keep in mind it was written in 1969 when you hear it. Their manager thought was too far off the path. ???
There’s no “Carolina” in those Purples.
Terry Kath was a monster and criminally underrated.
Terry and Ritchie are the two best guitarists I have heard.
Cloudy every morning referred to overcast fog of LA and So. Call during early days when chicago( band) lived there.
How could you see the fog through the pollution?
I LIVED IN LA.and I familiarized myself with the causes of smog, but marine layer is different Cold ocean currents that flow south from the arctic encounter the warmer air of the land mass.this produces heavy fog particularly in the summer months. The improvement in car pollution devices and large industrial factories during the 80s reduced smog. However the marine layer gas nothing to do with smog, It is far less dangerous but can cast gloomy skies over the LA Basin particularly in June which they characterize as June gloom! That is why Chicago lyrics include cloudy every morning, the sun dont never shine, during a period they lived in LA....
Wait until you find out he has a voice like Ray Charles to match. 25 or 6 to 4 live in Tanglwood is Terry in top form. Uptown was a sample perhaps of the solo work he never finished. Great guitar and vocals. Wish Hendrix would have got permission to manage and record with him. He tried.
First time I heard the reference to , I Am The Walrus. Did you catch it?
Yeah, very nice.
The group name is simply Chicago - not “Chicago Band.”
Now do Listen and Liberation from the same LP.
Now throw some PALI GAP...!
A couple of bands and three songs I suggest you react to. The band 'Mandrill' the song 'Fencewalk', the 'Funkadelic', the song 'MAGGOT BRAIN', and Steve Vai 'For the Love of God'.
PEACE TO ALL!!!!!!!
Wow, Mandrill so many memories as not too many folks know them. Good call 🙏😎♥️ Lets bear some Tower of Power 😎
Clueless people giving thumbs down
It's South California purples not South Carolina purples
Please just do I'm a man live TX.
Robert Lamm has a voice. Almost better than Cetera.
Sorry but looking at somebody eating is not appealing!
I understand that this band is totally new and unfamiliar, but eating crunchy food while giving a review is not cool. I mean, how can you HEAR the song properly.
Geeez that potato chip eatin reaction is so annoying....A tip for you girl,,,eat before you react....Sheeesh!
🤣🤣🤣 Tell us how it is 1st.
