Chicago Band- Poem 58 2002 Remaster Reaction - Hudba
This may be the coolest song of all time and you are the only person to react to it. And your reaction was perfect. Freaking groovy tune. ☮️
Poem 58 is a showcase for Terry Kath's brilliance, and just the overall tightness of the band. Pete Cetera's bass line and Danny Seraphine's drumming is epic. This song is criminally under rated and under appreciated.
So True...This is a masterpiece .. The most underrated Chicago song..It showcases the incredible talent this band had..
Terry Kath was one of the best guitarists ever. Rip
for sure
Definitely!
People often over use that phrase replacing "like" with "great." In this case, it's objective. You can't argue against his greatness. It just won't stand
Kath was criminally underrated .
Hendrix loved his playing.
So good someone from now now can appreciate the powerhouse of the late 70s that Chicago were. Thank you. I was crying.
Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitarist - Terry Kath
I’ve heard that ! Terry and Hendrix were both amazing
Terry Kath is so under appreciated. He should be recognized as one of the best of all time.
I keep coming back to this reaction because: 1. This is one of my favorite Chicago tracks, and 2. This is the most entertaining reaction I have ever seen! It's almost as epic as the song itself.
OMG best reaction to Chicago I've even seen! Thanks!
Also completely underrated bass player, Cetera
The best in-song reaction ever! You captured the pure joy of Terry’s energy perfectly.
Terry Kath, Peter Cetera, and Danny Seraphine could have been a power trio equal to Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, or any you can name. Throw in the Keyboards and the Horn Section, and you had Chicago Transit Authority, practically a force of Nature.
To me, Cetera, Yesss...
@Chris Paul It's like Cream with an even bigger sound.
Hendrix said to one of the band members, I think it was Pankow, your guitar player is better than me and your band has its own set of lungs.
@@shawnk7832 it’s all KATH!!!
TERRY KATH!!!!❤️🎸
I don't care about views. To me this is the best classic rock reaction video out there. Raw and groovy song and the reaction matches.
Oh, honey. LOL! I think I first heard them when I was 10 in 1968. I have this in my car. You're making an old hippie girl very happy!
I saw them in concert 3 times with Kath fantastic group 😃
I was the biggest Chicago fan back when the first album came out and saw them live in of all places Neshaminy High School Gymnasium! Sat right in front. Their first album was their best and Chicago died when Terry passed so tragically and suddenly. Incredible talent. Listen to “Tell Me” as Terry’s voice is soulful and will bring you to tears. Shades of Ray Charles 😎😢🙏♥️♥️
"How did I not know about that?" Exactly! Perfect.
Terry Kath is one of the most underrated guitarists, ever.
Man that bass line is like a rock!
Peter Cetera, amazing bass player.
"Beginnings" from the same album has some amazing drum work.
Beginnings is a total masterpiece. The drumming and horm work stand alone....peerless song and production
I'm a Man live Tanglewood 1970. You won't be disappointed
I live in Australia, and a friend introduced me to this album in 1971. I was totaly blown away, and it still is my absolute favourite album of all time.
I loved this band when I was 13 years old and I love this band at 61 years now. A special talented band back then and now
Whoever suggested Chicago, thank you. Other Chicago songs: 25 Or 6 To 4, Along Comes A Woman, Dialogue Pts. 1 & 2, Free and their version of I'm A Man.
Their first 3 albums are the core of what they were back then. Easily the best band (original lineup) I've ever seen. The mark of great art is that it's timeless. It is instantly recognizable and hits in every conceivable every time you hear/see it. The first time I ever saw them live was November 27, 1969. Been a fan ever since.
"What's This World Comin' To?" would be a great one! Funks out hard + a great message.
@@AZtronics It is a great song. Terry Kath's guitar playing and Peter Cetera's bass playing along with their vocals make that song rock. They played this on their 1973 tour.
@@AZtronics We can cut it in any key!
That reaction is what goes on in my head every time I hear Poem 58 (which is often). Never gets old. World's not the same without TK in it.
Well said
Me too!
This is your first reaction to Chicago? Wow! You are in for a treat! In their later years, Chicago became known for their great love ballads, but in their early days they made awesome funk like this. For more funky music by them, please react to "I'm a Man." As for a classic rock song by them, please react to "25 or 6 to 4." Both are awesome songs!!
Do "25 or 6 to 4' the live version from '70 at Tanglewood
I am constantly telling anyone who cares to listen to me to check this version out.
south california purples, by chicago transit authority
You made me smile!! 😊 You enjoy life and you brightened my day. Glad you appreciate sick tunes like this. Terry Kath was a beast on guitar.
I’m just SO happy a younger generation can appreciate the actual musicianship! It gives me hope👍
Watching your reaction is the same way I felt when I first heard it in 1969 when I was 13. I'm now 64, but thank you for verifying the way that I felt back then was 'for a reason'; I felt that way, and I couldn't understand why anyone else who heard that wouldn't also feel it.
One of the greatest bands of all time. I’ve been listening since their 1st album. Thats over 50 years and every time I hear this song I go into a Terry Kath trance. Back in the day who needed drugs with this kind of music on album. The most underrated band ever! Look a the list of performers that were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before Chicago. It’s proof that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a SHAM!!! Chicago’s music will be listened to for centuries.
Well said
Terry Kath was the MAN, rest his soul! Guitar God and the baritone voice you're hearing. And it may be hard for some to believe but it was Peter Cetera tearing it up on bass and backing Terry on vocals. Robert Lamm on keys; he sings as well. Danny Seraphine on drums. This is from their debut album. Their original name was Chicago Transit Authority, aka CTA, but shortened it to Chicago. They were never the same after Terry passed in 1978. All seven members virtuoso musicians imo. The three horns were like one set of lungs. Thank you for reviewing this song.
Terry Kath one of the greatest guitarist of his time
Unbelievable!!! The way that they mix in the horns is a tribute to their songwriting!! Terry Kath was the perfect guitarist for Chicago!!!
Chicago Transit Authority is a criminally underrated band. (Notice I said Chicago Transit Authority, not Chicago, because they are two separate bands IMO). Terry Kath was the real deal.
The first 3 albums is the TK trilogy.
Hey, I totally agree with you. For all these years the Chicago Transit Authority band is so totally different to Chicago, the soft rockers. I love this album, it's so unique, so good, and everything after it is so different. I sometimes think Terry Kath shot himself because his talent was wasted.
disagree wholeheartedly. CTA was legally forced to change their name after their first and ONLY album under that name. 'chicago' started with their second album until their 11th album. terry kath played on each of those albums. if you are not familiar with chicago 2, 3 and 5 check em out. terry kath is kickin ass in each of these albums
@@thomasmaxwell8353 Everybody knows what I mean. Yes technically you are correct. But lets not act like Kath would have had anything to do with the crap they dropped in the 80's.
@@thomasmaxwell8353Totally true. The actual Chicago transit system forced them to change their name. No personnel changes (except the addition of Oliver de Oliveira) until Terry passed.
10:58 possibly the greatest comment on modern music I've ever heard from a young person!
O...R..I...G...I...N....A...L!
One should have to pay to hear this stuff. Mind blowing musical exellence!
How refreshing to see young people embracing the music of my youth! You are proof that good music spans generations and race!
I Dig your reaction….thank you🌹Terry Kath!!! Super Natural. Probably the best guitar player that ever lived. 💔 RIP TK
One , if not the greatest horn rock band ever, just jammed to the max with out 1 horn playing. That's how amazing Chicago was with Terry Kath folks. Truly amazing! Terry's guitar tone is so incredible. His playing is off the charts good.
"What the freak was that?"
That was Terry Kath.
This is less of a song and more of an unadulterated eargasm.
Sure was and he is criminally underrated as a guitarist.
That's exactly what I said the first time I heard it almost a half century ago. What the freak was that! Man Terry could tear it up.
I'd need a cigarette after enjoying that masterpiece!!!
Welcome to terry kath and Chicago, as funky as it gets
Every young person should hear this at once in their lives! It juxtaposes love and country during the dangerous time during the Viet Nam war, every confusing time for all especially for college and many of draft age! What old people called noise we called it an epiphany!
From the liner notes of their first album, known as Chicago Transit Authority...."If you must call them something, call them Chicago!" This is the archetype album that represented the music of what Chicago wanted, a rock group with horns! Terry Kath was their lead guitarist and vocalist. He died a tragic death from an accidental self inflicted gunshot wound in January 1978. RIP Terry and long live the music of Chicago!!!
The music back then could blow your mind and the same music can blow your mind today.
See? We grew up with that. Kath. Madonna was like a punch in the face to us. 😊 It all just went down hill lol
Your reaction was so great that I had to watch it twice!!!
This is what happens to the girls when we listen to Terry ;-)
Hot damn!! Great reaction to one of my favorite songs from Chicago. Great workout tune!
The song that starts off this very same debut album of theirs. Introduction. Brilliant song.
ScribeCash - you are very lucky to experience this song. It's a hidden gem from Chicago, only for the true fans.
I know, right? It's hard to imagine that anything could be this good. This is an overlooked gem from this album. Everyone always has the exact same reaction upon first hearing this. That's the power of great music and everything Chicago did was this good until Terry Kath's death in 1978. I enjoyed watching your reaction almost as much as I enjoy this song. If you liked this one then go and check out the entire album. There's much more just like it.
I'm pretty late to this party but just found your review of this classic Chicago track. THIS was the Chicago I grew up with and hands down the best. I'd say between this one, Chicago Transit Authority all the way up to and including Chicago 10 are the albums you should concentrate on. This is all Terry Kath, the greatest and most talented guitarist that ever lived. Thank you for loving this tune and also your comment about current music not being anywhere close to the talent back in 1969-1970. Thank you for recognizing true talent!
RIP, Terry Kath! You are a brilliant young lady! I know you are a musician in your own right and it shows. I was in high school when this album was recorded and it was a great time to be a music lover. People did have real talent back then. They wrote their own songs. they played real instruments and could do anything live that they recorded in the studio.
I have a theory as to why a lot of the music was composed of different instruments playing parts that supported the song as a whole instead of all playing the same notes. Our parents lived through WWII and big band music was very popular with them. Obviously, big band music had a lot of different instruments playing supporting roles and the musicians of my generation grew up hearing our parents' music just like every generation does. My generation was not about to let our parents' music be better than ours so a lot of thought and effort was put into making the final product. The proof is in the pudding as they say. Love your channel!
Hi The Real Scribe! I absolutely loved your reaction to Poem 58! I grew up listening to Chicago and have seen them too many times to count. Your initial reaction was the same as mine the first time I heard it back in '70 :) It's fun to see someone young like you listening to it for the very first time and getting off on their vibe. It also shows you've got a great groove and even greater taste! Ha!
The late guitarist Terry Kath.
"They really used to play back then. They used to really have talent and real instruments. We ain't got that no more." Now you know where we're coming from and why so much of today's music is such a let down from what we had in the 70s.
Terry was the best ever!!!!
guitar, drums, bass all on the same path and the name of the path is GROOVE!
I never watch myself listening to music, but I can imagine I look like you. Love this song and the album. Love your reaction !!!
I love your reaction!!! It's great to see the younger generation experience and appreciate classic songs like this great song
Smoothest freaking transition ever!!!! You may have introduced me to this. This is my favorite song of all time now, and for me, Chicago Transit Authority was better than the Beatles and Lee Zeppelin over the years they were together. They were the best band in the world... as long as Terry Kath, and Peter Cetera worked their magic together, no one was better.
Her reaction is classic. Can you image my reaction as a 10yr old kid (1971) sneaking into big brother's room dropping the LP and track unto his new Pioneer stereo. Having to make a quick exit when he comes home. hahaha
If you want more try almost anything from the Tanglewood show. 25 or 6 to 4 is an epic performance by Terry Kath.
Another extremely talented band from the 70's is Loggins & Messina. You would love their extended jam songs starting with "Angry Eyes". Give it a try, I would love to see your reaction.
Who needs hip hop when you got this.
Terry talkin' to Jimi up there in their Celestial paradise and we just got a glorious whisper from him down here in our temporary, materialistic residence.
All I can say is, wait until you sample "Introduction" from this same album. THAT is merely THE greatest song in rock history.
Nice discovery, I haven't heard that in years. It makes me smile to watch you enjoying it.
"409 Multi-Surface Cleaner" is doing a good job in the studio :)
The Beach Boys would be proud.
Bleach boys 🤣
Phenomenal base line with the drums!
You just delved into a group pretty much any of their songs you can't go wrong
Awesome reaction. Proper
Check out a song called LISTEN that first album is FIRE 🤘🤘
That First Chicago Album is a masterpiece.
They were The Chicago Transit Authority until they were threatened to be sued then they became Chicago
From the same great album, “Questions 67 & 68” is another great example of their fusing jazz and rock with hints of their eventual move into pop (a mistake in the opinion of many) .... but STILL a great band and great album. czcams.com/video/qupeVLtXWLY/video.html
That reaction will stay in my mind from now on whenever I hear this song--as epic as the song itself! I nearly had an eargasm just watching you nearly having an eargasm! The first time I listened to this decades ago off their original album, I would skip it to listen to more melodic, less grungy tracks. But it has really grown on me over the years, and your reaction really clinched it. That guitar/bass/drums trio performance of Terry Kath, Peter Cetera and Danny Seraphine may be the greatest in rock of all time!
You are so funny.....and spot on! Legendary is the word. I love your passion. You are an original.
Chicago songs "25 or 6 to 4", "Feeling Stronger Everyday","Saturday in the Park", "If you leave me now","Make me Smile","Alive Again", "Old Days", "I'm a Man", "Just You N Me" there's a start of earlier greats
Darn right it doesn’t exist anymore. Awesome reaction, I wish you had seen them live. Epic!
Now that's a _REACTION!!!!_ I think you have to watch them live to really appreciate them. The Tanglewood concert (21 July 1970) is legendary, and Terry Kath's 2.5-minute improvised guitar solo on "25 or 6 to 4" is pure fire. Unfortunately, Chicago only rocked hard on their first two albums (Poem 58 is from the first, CTA.). By 1976, Chicago was playing music that would soon be heard in elevators around the world. And then Terry Kath accidentally shot himself...
Chicago !!!!!! Automatic like coming up !
Welcome to the 70's.💝
The original official name was " Chicago Transit Authority" but the real life CTA made them shorten their name to just "Chicago"
Great reaction BTW, instantly subscribed. 😎
Worth your enjoyment! Big fan. Terry Kath was told by Hendrix "man you are better than me " ! True love.
Not sure how far you go back to check replies, but this is the first reaction I saw you do. It's why I started following you ever since. Hope all is well. Appreciate ya!
Yeah...had to pause it and grab my weed. Looking forward to jamming out with you some more. Subscribed😁🎶🦋
Love that formula 409 bottle in your video. Good to know that you're a clean person
Oh just wanted to add something Terry the guitarist also played Kay guitar Gibson SG triple pickup low impedance humbuckers Les Paul professional and Telecaster Stratocaster for anybody out there that is interested didn't want to limit him to just the Strat take care
10:55 Amen sister. Go tell it to the masses. Your awesome.
My favorite Chicago album!
You, Ms. Cash, are certifiably 100% Adorable!
All the Chicago's first couple albums smoke check them out oh yeah the guitar player Terry Kath amazing believe he played a Fender Strat and man he had a killer Strat I believe Jimi Hendrix even commented on him saying he dug him big time in a car solve the rest of the members in the band they were so in sync and the songs that came up with so moving so amazing take care
Fuck yeah my favorite chicago song
ZZ Top - "Waitin' For the Bus" ("Jesus Just Left Chicago")... literally 2 songs in 1!... and funky as trunkjunk!
My wife & I saw them in concert in August 2019 at the Biltmore in Asheville, NC. They were amazing and sounded just like they did back in the 70s. Great band!
UNBELIEVABLY EXCELLENT ‼️‼️
Love your intense passion!!!
è pazzesco tutto il tempo trascorso per arrivare al riff cantato - Poem 58 è un pezzo straordinario, come tutto il mitico album - hai davvero grande gusto 👍
I just bought this double album for $1. I LOVED this song! This is how I found your channel. You Gotta New Subscriber 👏
First time, homegurl!!!
She said, it's like the drums are on it's own path and the guitar is on it's own path and the bass is on it's own path. That's called jamming and Chicago was one of the best jam bands ever. For further proof of that check out their song liberation on this same album.
I had forgotten about this. Thanks for reacting. Epic.
Yeah those early Chicago Transit Authority songs every one of them is fantastic with the original guitar player had a Firearms accident I believe he was one of my favorite guitar players back then inspired me also but the early songs they all smoke
