    Rounding everything makes smooth key operation. You can even drop the key cuts one level and still open it perfectly. They should make a note saying “supports badly cut big box key copies”

      @PocketWomen  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for that information Rune. That would be a good selling point for rental agents 'key would still work after 17 copies' Appreciate you watching and commenting, Pats to your cats

    I have picked a couple of locks very similar to that one. They feel harsh, gritty and rough inside. They don't feel like what a normal lock feels like. Funny enough it can make them slightly harder ro pick.
    Thanks for sharing this, a fun watch.

    • @PocketWomen

      That is correct, sometimes crap means it is harder to pick. The only security feature. Thanks for watching and commenting, cheers

    Great video👍😊 it sounded super crunchy when you were picking. Those driver pins looked very strange and double sided key pins are never a good sign. The jamb screws are tiny also. Stay well 👍🇦🇺😊

      It sure did, I thought I was hitting the warding but no, it was the chambers, very sharp. Rune made a good point about the rounded pins and chamfer allowing for keys to still function when they are cut a cut out, they would still work! Thanks for watching and commenting, cheers

      @@PocketWomen that is crazy that it can be off 1 cut on each chamber and still work🤯

    Nice picking and nice close up photography. Very fun and interesting to watch. Most people just see price and no idea about the lock.

      Thanks for the comment mate. I think a good way these days to tell if a lock is half decent while it is still in the pack is to tell by the weight of it. Do a comparison weight test in the shop. If the cheaper one is heaps lighter than the more expensive ones then you know the quality of the materials in the cheaper one is not that great. This one had metals that were very thin.

    The only thing iconic about that lock is your fantastic review and video. I would not use that to lock a dog house door.

      lol, the dog would be able to chew through this lock easily as the metals are so light and thin. Thanks for your fun comment, have a good week mate

    When Bunnings had them reduced to clear I got some for $3 each.

      That's about all they are worth, I was ripped off! A fun pick for beginners to locksport though so they do have a good use!

    That Iconic looks exactly the same as an Annette deadbolt kit I got for $10, some rebranding going on.
    Nice picking btw😀✌️

    • @PocketWomen
      @PocketWomen  Před 3 lety +1

      Probably, some have said they had been able to get this lock for $3 from the green coloured hardware. doesn't surprise me this is being rebranded. There is probably a huge shipment of these that they are trying to flog off. This is an attempt to squish Lockwood out of the market or to force them to lower their prices. Either way I think there is a lock war going on out there. it would be good to be a fly on the wall at Lockwood and B hardware to get the inside scoop.

    I have a similar lock from Lowe's the American equivalent to Budings. It is just as cheap and poorly made not worth the 12dollars I paid for it, great review and job on the pick and gut. Those pins were bad and looked like it didn't work very smoothly. Take care and be well.

    • @PocketWomen
      @PocketWomen  Před 3 lety +1

      It was rough as guts (as the saying goes here) I wouldn't install this lock on anything. It is only good for locksport. Thanks for watching and commenting, cheers

  • @DonzLockz
    @DonzLockz Před 3 lety

    Thanks for the video. I bought some cheap as chips when they were on special. They are worse than i thought. The pins are horrendous, glad you showed good close up shots of the. I got them for my folks place because theirs are playing up but now I dunno cause they are cheap quality. :/

    • @PocketWomen
      @PocketWomen  Před 3 lety +1

      I wouldn't install these on anything. The metals are so thin and the pins and core really bad. This lock could easily be defeated by a hammer. As Roy said in the comments the core is sharp, gritty and crunchy, It's going to blow out quickly. Cheers

      @DonzLockz Před 3 lety

      @@PocketWomen damn, I bought three sets of external lever sets and the double deadlocks like yours. :/

    • @PocketWomen
      @PocketWomen  Před 3 lety +1

      @@DonzLockz maybe the lever handles will be okay if you change the core out to something a bit more solid and change out the pins to proper security pins. I just think the metal in the deadbolt is way too thin

    Almost a science the way they produce cheap locks.

      Yes. It is clever how they can strip a lock to its bare minimum material wise and still get the locks to work. Big pats to the cats. Cheers

    Thanks for creating this video, it may just save me from a break-in! Do you know if the Lane locksets (next price up at Bunnings) is any better?

    • @PocketWomen
      @PocketWomen  Před rokem

      Lane is a good brand. Has been on Aussie doors since the seventies. So if would say Lane is a lot better. It is better to go for a name brand like Lockwood Whitco or Lane anything else I wouldn’t trust. Make sure you look at the key carefully. You want some highs and low cuts on the keys to add another level of security. Cheers

      Yes I just did it for a bit of fun and I wanted to see what this brand offered, it seems to have taken over the cheap section of locks at the big green store here. Thanks for watching and commenting, cheers
