  • This was a really easy way to increase the security at my mom's house. These locks can be easily keyed to match your current locks, and installing them is a cinch!

This video just saved me! I was trying to install one and I got the deadbolt in and then I got confused and the directions weren't too helpful. Thanks so much! Love your videos!

Even doors without windows should have double cylinder deadbolt locks. Yesterday someone broke into my home. The one and only door without double cylinders was how they carried large, heavy items outside. They entered via a window but the Officers and I agree the thick, solid wood door was their choice for removing my belongings. They left a trail of items across the front porch and sidewalk. I keep a key tucked away near every door with double cylinder deadbolt locks. Overnight guests are always informed where the keys are hidden. I also frequently relocate the keys.

These types of locks are prohibited in my city (Denver) because they are a considered a safety hazard. The rationale is that if there is a fire in your house, you should not need a key or need to know a code in order to get out. I'm curious what other models are out there to prevent break-in without creating a safety hazard.

I just installed one, but sorry, I'm pretty sure you didn't do it the way it's designed to be done. You need to use flat head screw driver to tighten long screws. These little philip screws just to hold the cover, lol. This is why you bent your cover a little bit. Hmm how did you manage to tighten it! Well if it works it works xD

I want to thank you for this comment. You are indeed correct. I wish I could have understood what you were saying. I tried and tried on my own and finally called a locksmith! NOTE TO ALL: Those two small screws are ONLY for the faceplate. What this video DOES NOT show, as stated above, is that you need a flat head to put in the two LONG screws and once the mechanism is in THEN use a Phillips to attach the face plate LAST. Good luck folks! I learned a lot but I did end up calling a professional. Lesson learned.

In a last step long bolts are designed to be used with a flathead screwdriver without an inside house cover cap on. An inside cap with small Phillips head bolts are for decoration only. Good video otherwise, thanks

Seems really dangerous, if a fire breaks out abd no key youre trapped to burn alive inside. Scary.

My set has irreversible Long screws that you then screw in a small screw for the finished look I didn't see you use those?

i looked closely at the cylinder that you installed on the inside of the door and it appears that the tiny hole for rekeying the lock isnt there. so you must have it on the outside of the door so anyone with the little tool could rekey the lock and use their ket to enter. Better reverse the two sides of the lock! what say you?

Pretty much worthless since the challenge is to get the correct alignment (key teeth up, etc) between the two sides.

How about trying to install at least once before you attempt to make a how to video for people to learn from.
