  • This is a tutorial on installing a double-cylinder deadbolt with a two-inch backset for doors made by Atrium, Morgan, and other companies.
The particular lock used in this video is part #40510, available here:
    www.allaboutdoors.com/search?...
Not all double-cylinder deadbolts are configured in this way--many have different cylinder tailpieces that may require a different installation process.
Please note: This was installed on a sample door piece. The doorknob hole is bigger than it typically would be if you were installing this deadbolt in your home. Similarly, the screws that are included with this lock are breakable, so you can break them off if your door is less thick. We did not want to ruin the product and left the screws the long length, hence the deadbolt is not 100% secure.

Great video. I’d add that you’ll want to make sure your building codes and application allow for a double cylinder deadbolt. It’s a deadly firetrap for kids so don’t lose those keys… Thanks!

Great point! Without a doubt, check your building codes before installing any new hardware and always remain safe!

Where do you find a 2" backset? I can't seem to find one anywhere. I've been looking online for the past 45 minutes and have had no luck at all. Anybody have any ideas?

When your example pieces are only loosely attached it makes for a sloppy presentation.
