    My Dad was a
    Dental Technician after he got out of the air force. He used the same burs you use. But from 1968 to 2006 he had to chuck them into a bench grinder. He would bring the chopper to the bit and do the grind. Thanks to Toney you can get right on it. Grate to see you. now back to the show .03 seconds into it.

    This is incredibly interesting, learning the characteristics and the movement of an air charge is amazing. I would love to see this on a smoke bench, I could watch for hours!

    Harvey your content is fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing. I recently ordered myself a foredom with that exact same right angle grinder. Been looking for an affordable one for years. I was a little worried about the quality of the right angle grinder as it felt a bit rough and noisy but so far so good. Sure gets a guy excited about porting again!

      Awesome, took me years to aquire one aswell and you'll never believe where I found mine at..lol at a damn good will foundation, there was a tool bag with lots of Dremel/grinder bits and stones etc and in the bottom wrapped up in a crown royal bag was a little 90degree porting tool that is rather old as it's the cast aluminum or magnesium body, made by Chicago electrics from what I could make out on it, paid 25$ for the whole bag, came with a couple old Dremels, ones with the long flexible head on it, Wich are pretty nice.       Ha, yes, time will tell on these. I ran mine in and now will clean and lube with some moly grease as is commonly used for constant velocity joins on front wheel drive auto axles (the black stuff). I'll keep you all posted.bearings seem okay still but I'll clean and lube those also.

    Was always tought to angle the transfers towards the intake and away from exhaust best You can so that it doesn't make it easier to get sucked out of exhaust port prematurely, am by no means an expert but I have done quit a bit of successful port work, started out on saws and Weedeaters and worked up to vintage motocross machines up until power valves...haven't played with any of those jugs. Great video,you good sir just gained a sub🍻

      You are correctable angling the transfers towards the intake because when blow down happens you don't want all the fuel charge sucked out the exhaust porting isn't a boat just hogging out the transfers as big as you can he did absolutely no measuring transfers need to all be the same size angled the same way his exhaust port is absolutely horrendous there was no planning of the port at all all he did was took his car by bit and just wallowed out the exhaust as big as he could get it with absolutely no thought into port timing I would imagine on one of those small motors over 200° duration on the exhaust port is probably around your limit so if he did the port to wide it'll catch a ring if it's not chamfered right it'll catch a ring the shape of it isn't even close to what it needs to be there's no symmetry to it I don't know what more to say I do this stuff on like banshee motors and stuff that hundred horsepower plus so anybody that takes this video and tries to apply what he's doing all you're doing is destroying a cylinder you can't put material back in

    I know this video is a little bit older but I dont want to hijack one of the newer ones to ask this. Albeit a farm and ranch saw, I have a MS290 that I did the 390 big bore kit on and it was a fun thing to do and made a difference but I'm wondering now what the divider in the middle of the transfers are for and as you know those saws have an extremely low case volume. Could they benefit from grinding that divider out of the lower part of the transfers below the stopping point of the bottom ring and opening the intake up as much as possible to allow as much fuel and air in and into the cylinder by the opening of the transfers? Also if I windowed the piston some would that help? I also know I will probably destroy this thing instead of getting it right but I don't have alot of money in it and I really want to know how much difference if any it would make. For the record I am also a certified diesel guy so I have a few credentials but not on two stroke stuff. Any thoughts would be appreciated

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge! A few oddball questions for you if you are interested. Does piston weight matter on a 372xp? Any difference in weight between the single ring and double ring piston? Is the crankshaft the same weight/part number when they changed from single to double ring? Some kits come with 1.2mm ring(s) some come with 1.5mm, any preference or thoughts? And for the probably the dumbest question- Can you run a single ring on a double ring piston?

      Bellhopper has info, but usually does more extreme builds on the little junkers. Check out J&S Chainsaw. He does a bunch of the old crappy poulans, and has a bunch of info, and does a practical woods porting. Lots of guys don't mess with the little saws, because they don't use them. The exception is the tree saws - 200T and similar. They are pretty hot to begin with though, and usually just a muffler mod is enough to wake them up a bit. Some of the echo and china tree saws (top handle) can use a little more help (air filter mod, timing advance). Most guys add intake duration to your little poulan by cutting the piston bottom a bit, for a little more intake duration. Hope that helps someone.

    The only thing that baby's lacking is curse control. Although I was never a fan of cruise control it might be handy. I'm a firm believer in self control its alot harder then one likes to admit to keep anything from wide open all the time. Nice and easy plenty on low rpm power only burning extra fuel running high rpm

    Iron Horse are u getting these cylinders to scavenge a lil bit more flow this way ? Or decreasing the flow or down cycle scavenging? Guarantee this legit question will not get no response by the Mythical Ironhorse him self. I’m not trying to troll one bit I’m looking for a reasonable debate on ur thinking here. Then just maybe then we can touch on just how u come to the final decision on ur timing numbers in general. Since there is a overall method to mapping out all cylinders. Some rules to follow. Anything outside of tht it’s just throwing darts at a dart board blindly.
