- Hydration and electrolytes are crucial for maintaining good health. They work together to ensure your body functions properly.
Hydration
Water makes up about 60% of your body weight and is essential for various bodily functions, including:
Regulating body temperature
Lubricating joints
Delivering nutrients to cells
Removing waste products
Maintaining blood pressure
Dehydration occurs when you lose more fluids than you take in. It can lead to various problems, such as:
* Fatigue
* Dizziness
* Headache
* Constipation
* Kidney stones
* Urinary tract infections
Electrolytes
Electrolytes are minerals that conduct electricity when dissolved in water. They play a vital role in many bodily functions, including:
Maintaining the balance of fluids inside and outside your cells
Supporting muscle and nerve function
Regulating blood pressure
Maintaining a healthy pH level
Electrolyte imbalance can occur due to excessive sweating, vomiting, diarrhea, or certain medications. Symptoms of electrolyte imbalance can include:
* Muscle cramps
* Weakness
* Fatigue
* Irregular heartbeat
* Nausea and vomiting
Importance of maintaining balance
Maintaining proper hydration and electrolyte balance is crucial for optimal health and performance. Here are some tips to stay hydrated and maintain electrolyte balance:
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Aim for eight glasses of water per day, but adjust based on your activity level and climate.
Eat a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, which are good sources of electrolytes.
Consider electrolyte drinks if you are sweating heavily during exercise or in hot weather, or if you are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea.
By staying hydrated and maintaining electrolyte balance, you can help your body function at its best and avoid potential health problems. - Zábava
20 ounces is around 600ml for anyone wondering.
Thank you
Thank you!
2.5 cups right
What the fuck is a milliliter 🦅 🦅
@@Dennaton How old are you? It;s literally 1/1000 of a liter. If you don't know what a liter is, look it up. 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍❤❤
I definitely need to start adding electrolytes. Thank you so much for sharing this, Chari!
You are so welcome!🙏
For sure. You can drink all the water in the world (actually not a good idea since your kidneys will flush it out), but without some electrolytes, you won’t rehydrate or quench your thirst. 😉
@@_charihawkinsHi Chari
How much water (oz or ml)💦 we can intake during workout... Precisely, how much is the limit for one intake
Same here
I'm a complete failure 😅
Failed everything. I run about 12 kms and drink after that.
You don’t need water if you’re running an hour or under. Just hydrate before & you’ll be fine.
That is so true. I have always exercised more intensively when I am hydrated. Otherwise I tend to tire and dry out soon.
Pass! For me I take magnesium glycinate or threonate for sleep, so while I always try to support my neurons with the right salts, when Im asleep is when they seem to appreciate it most... I got your tips in my head all the time when I run now coach! Hip pain is all gone and I'm running faster and more effortlessly, lifting legs in front and cycling back under instead of letting them fly behind. I read like 3 books on running none of them taught me like you... Im flying! :)
Great Job at Worlds! You Practice What You Preach.
Your hair is PERFECT in this video short girl! Loving it! 🎉❤
The great informative content just keeps coming! Much gratitude.
Obligatory "it's got what plants crave" comment. I had a friend who is an iron woman explain this to me. During late spring to early fall, I'm constantly cramping when running. Once, not enough water. Once too much water. Now, I have a salt mixture I use a day before since I sweat like I swear. Too much.
Thanks lady as always!
Thanks for this video @chari i was pondering about my hydration routine and magically you shared this!
I needed this! Doing a Half marathon this weekend. Need to up my hydration game, so I don’t bonk out!!
20 oz = ~600 ml (for the SI users)
20 oz = 2 (8 oz) + 4 oz = 2 cups + half a cup = 2.5 cups.
Hydrating right before running is a no-no, as it makes an old man, like myself, want to visit the lavatory
Informative video 😄😄❤
My past 0/3, sometimes 1/3… my future 3/3 🙌
Thanks a ton for these tips 🫶🫂
You look great by the way 💞
Staying alive never used to be this hard
Haha i think it used to be a lot harder actually ❤😂
@@_charihawkins difficult. Not complex
I'm doing home made electrolytes: around 2 litres of water with Himalayan salt, 2 lemons and a little honey every day, have that in my fridge and drink it. The same before and after the gym another 1 litre of water.
Thanks again I'm running my first half and need all the help I can get, this helps a lot.
You are so incredible and amazing chari 💪🏽 🙌🏽
That is a first on internet ❤❤❤
I need to hydrate more!!! I'm new to jogging, and so I know I need to be getting alot more water before, during and after my workout.
It was very exciting to watch you live in Glasgow. Hope to c u in the medal ceremony in paris though : )
Thank you. I have to work on 20oz one hour before my workout. I also will work on hydrating every 15 mins. I generally drink throughout my runs but I'll be mindful of every 15 mins.
I failed..
But thanks for the reminder, I’m going to do better.
#2 explains why my body struggles on going on runs immediately after waking up in the morning.
I'm listening and trying to keep up. Thanks
Looking good!
I’d bet that most people aren’t but after this helpful tip most people will 👍
No they won't
Great tips, hydration is 🔑
Ayyy ❤❤❤❤
For some odd reason this video makes me nostalgic
I am from India and I like your videos and you😊
I just hydrated after long half MARATHON.
Can you give us a simple strength workout we can do say twice a week either bodyweight or weights or combo. Older now, I need something. Please.
Eddie Hall: Hydration test ✅
Depends on what you are working out, I think we are making workouts more complicated.
Your a good trener
I copied your 'push down knee' technique and it worked. I took a good 40 seconds of a mile.
I just want to add (and I'm sorry) - but you really are a beautiful girl. Like, the stuff dreams are made of.
I get my electrolytes through other supplements, I hydrate during my workout and after during the day. I don’t drink 20oz of water before my workout
❤❤❤❤
Camera 📷 quality ❤
👀 wondering if it's because I'm not hydrating during exercise is why I end up getting injuries sometimes
Hi, I know you are a fast runner, but any tips for long runs?
2/3 depends on the distance I’m running. For speedwork I tend not to drink but longer tempo runs I will
I pass!! Love it Chari 🎉
I love 😘😘😘 you 💋💋💋
Time to order more bottled water!
You should try running 20 miles in July in the mountains with no water. Good exercise for the body :)
You don’t alway need to be at top hydration - sometimes it’s nice to push and see what your body can do :)
Love your videos- thanks!
Frankly, it's none of my business.
However, I used "push myself." Then, I started getting kidney stones. Not immediately, but later on. After a few lengthy discussions, it was discovered that pushing isn't what it's cracked up to be. Not everyone is the same, and the results will vary greatly.
Kidney stones are no fun.
Can you make a video on breathing techniques?
Looking very cool cutie😮😊... I jst fllow your tricks
❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥⚡️⚡️⚡️ That seems like a ton of electrolytes. Potassium, sodium, chloride, magnesium. Gotta have 'em. I drink a gallon a day. I can't imagine 1/4 of that being powdered electrolytes. Love you, but that seems super high. ❤❤❤
What kind of makeup do you wear during exercise? Hate to think if all that getting absorbed through my skin
I only drink electrolytes on the days of my track meets
🏃♀️👌👌👌👌👌👏👏👏👏⭐️⭐️⭐️
great tips for hydrate during workout! Is there other way to stay hydrate enough without electrites with water too?
Nice I'll try that technic 💦🙏
I can't hydrate while working out, I get a side stitch and I get nauseous
Thank u luv u charri
❤️❤️❤️
@@_charihawkins u r my teacher, friend etc lot of love from India
Great job at worlds, one day i want to c u a gold medalist in olympics
Depending on enviroment❤
Yayyy..all 3 🙌🏻
Yessss well done!
In war young miss 'hydration' is a luxury. And each and every soldier, those glorious bastards ran loaded to the brim time and time again, uphill/downhill, through riverbeds creeks, marshes, flat and undulating surfaces, and in every unimaginable terrain/circumstance. And they didn't have a drop of water to drink of?
Does chugging straight ocean water count?
❤😊
Name of the electrolytes you use dear Chiara
Whats the mg limit on sodium? I'd have all my water with lmnt if I could.
Maam,,,,is it good, okey or bad to have water in between workouts?
I work a physical job and go to the gym after. I do need to add electrolytes, what are good ones you recommend?
Hola. Charihawkins
Eres muy linda ⚘
Y una gran ❤ 👱♀️ 🏃♀️ 🌹 👏 atleta
Me parece excelente ❤ 🌹 👌
Felicidades para ❤ 🌹 ti
2. No. I failed...and had no idea that I need that much water before working out. 😢😐
Im not sure this is important. For me what is crucial is being well hydrated at the beginning of the workout - not necessarily via drinking a lot just an hour before.
Me running 90 minute runs in winter without a drop of water: 😳
What volume is 20 ounces?
Not sure on 1/4? I have 1 pack of electrolytes before the run and 1 after. Maybe too much? 😂 Live in a hot place though, so get calf cramps easily.
So beautiful ❤️
❤❤❤
You look cute sister😊
I drink 400-700ml every hour for 17 hours of the day with no electrolyte drinks feel absolutely amazing. Eat clean get your potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium through real foods is the best way
Delts got some definition
Yes I pass 😁
Nice Milko! 🙌
Amazing! ❤
How not to pass out while running 😂

I thought this was disproved?
That is, "drink when you are thirsty" works for most people.
Let us know your favorite electrolyte brands please!!
Drip drop! It was also the electrolytes the team used at world championships!
@@_charihawkins thanks :)
Why don't u answer my question 😢??
Chari I am in love with you
1/3 for me 😢
Well I failed
I lift right after waking up at 0200
And I run after a1hr45min bus ride back from work, unless I want to have to pee really bad I don't drink water in this time frame,
How to improve sixtheen Hundred metres running 😊❤
I'm sorry. I'm not hearing her at all. I can't put my finger as to why. 😂😂😂
1:OK 2&3 failed
should you take electrolytes during or after a long run?
You can do both- one for priming and one for replenishment… but if you only do one, i would say replenishment/after
@@_charihawkins thanks!
Lol
You can me Mari
U want merry me 💞💞❤
Another marketing shtick for water…
Water is life ❤
Water is the best thing you could drink
Who measures water in oz? Use some common sense.
X x x. Lol. Failure.
Um no not true our ancestors did not do this shizzle
As a European viewer, incorporating measurements in kilograms and liters will attract more European viewers to your content. 🎉
😂metric-cels mad😂
Big fail😢
The first one doesn't make sense to me. If i drink a litre of water am i expecting to take in 250g of electrolytes 😂
How much electrolytes you take in (and hence need) depends on the written information on the bottle / packet.
The proportion of liquid vs electrolyte doesnt matter beyond how salty you like your drinks
IM-PORT-ANT. why can’t people pronounce this anymore? Is it a brokie thang?
