How to use your arms when running
Vložit
- čas přidán 3. 06. 2023
- Keep your elbows bent at a 90-degree angle. This will help you maintain a good running form and prevent injury.
Swing your arms forward and back in a smooth, coordinated motion. Your arms should move in opposition to your legs, so when your right leg is forward, your left arm should be forward, and vice versa.
Don't cross your arms in front of your body. This can cause you to lose balance and put stress on your shoulders.
Keep your hands relaxed and your shoulders down. Don't tense up your arms or shoulders, as this can lead to fatigue and pain.
Here are some additional tips that may help you improve your arm swing:
Imagine that you are pushing off the ground with your hands as you run. This will help you generate more power and momentum.
Focus on keeping your arms close to your body. This will help you maintain good posture and prevent injury.
Experiment with different arm swings to find what feels most comfortable and efficient for you. There is no one right way to swing your arms when running, so find what works best for you.
As you run, pay attention to how your arms feel. If you are feeling any pain, make sure to adjust your arm swing or take a break. With practice, you will be able to develop a smooth, efficient arm swing that will help you run faster and farther.

Thanks for your service 🙏

How are you talking so clearly while running?!😮
She jogging, but at the end she actually runs and doesn’t talk. Takes quite a bit of muscle tho!
she’s a runner so the jogging is easy for her
She’s a runner she’s a trackstar
Breath control. It sounds weird but breathing deeper instead of shallower enables this. So not being scared you're gonna pass out and exhaling all the air controlled while speaking and then quickly inhaling with both mouth and nose in between.
Her jogging is regular people’s walking
Her hair is flowing better than my entire life
Same
For sure😂🐴
"The key is chest and hips." No truer words, in both kinds of cardio.

If you are sprinting, then completely ignore this video.
The cameraman has some serious running skill. I want his advices next
It’s just a golf cart
@@UnmercifulDuckyou underestimate the power of the camera man. Bro can run at light speed while holding a camera steady.
@@personman8734I've seen some of the most fit cameramen sprinting in basic with the trainees to get that footage. Camera was steady the whole time.
Same thoughts 😂😂😂
@@personman8734you under estimate technology that removes the bouncing motion while recording as it available on new phones.
My running coach used to make us run laps holding saltine crackers to teach us not to waste energy in our arms and if we broke them we had to keep running
😢
So they provided snacks but did they provide water?
I’d pretend to fall and smash them if I broke them
My marching band director had us balance a cup of water on our heads while practicing our marching technique (basically just not bobbing up and down) but where do they get these ideas… do they just scheme in the teachers lounge?
im so sorry omg D:
Love the bouncy forefoot strike. I switched to minimalist shoes a number of years ago and it changed the game completely. Adding in calisthenics, rope jumping and running drills has given huge improvements
I can only wish to run so gracefully 😭
Tip toe on a track like she does and you wont
keep wishing and it will never happen. Get out there and do it. Start now. Walk everyday, then walk faster, then jog/walk, then jog, then slow run, then run, then run long distance, then speed up for long distance. It doesn't happen over night. You can do anything
Stellar demonstration, explanation, and content! Thank YOU, Chari! YOU have an AMAZING Sunday and upcoming week of training!
Thank you so much!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You reply to every video, you’re always the first one, and you’re very invested, emphasizing specific things in your response… take that how you will

I usually stick to self-teaching but I totally wouldn't mind to have a coach like this!
Solid tips too!
💀💀
Are you dumb? She's "running" tip toe. You don't bounce off the pads of your feet
Your voice is extremely pleasurable.
I love this so much because I have hypermobility and unstable joints, and I've ALWAYS been made fun of for the way I run, especially my arms. But no one has ever explained how to correct whatever I'm doing wrong. I'm 27. Thank you for creating this
So you can't tip toe and calf raise?
This is sad
You should run with your legs not your arms
@jeremiahcook4052 your point? Not everyone's body works perfectly, some people struggle more with basic movements than you'd realize

I’m just watching your foot strike. So much cleaner than mine (heavy heel strike)👍🏻
I'm questioning if I run on my heels😬
Does that not wear heavily on your achilles???
@@kirabuckner4240No, It takes heavy tolls on your shins more then anything, Its a Power Run, Not at all meant for Running distance, Only for sprints at FULL speed
Same here 😪 idk how to distance run
@@noblehobo622I might be wrong but she land on her toes didn't she? (good for sprint)
As someone with a disability who is relearning how to run, thank you so much for these videos they’re so informative and helpful!
If I have a runner like you besides me I am never stopping
nah the cameraman gonna be the next usain bolt 💀
Somehow cheerleading taught me how to run the right way, bc I’m naturally tight in all of my movements (which can be a problem) so I pump my arms exactly like this when I’m running
BRATT was not hereto learnlast part will u teach me again, please?😊
try opening up your hands too, allows for more blood flow and feels more free
Yeah that's what I do
This is the comment I was looking for. I did years of track & by all our coaches we were constantly told never to ball your fists up as you’re creating wind tension, same thing with loose or baggy clothes. But for long distance this stance (but relaxed hands, which look like closed fists) is much better. I was a sprinter though, so I never close my hands.
I ran for couple of years and for some reason this felt the natural arm movement
Makes me tired just thinking about running, you make it look so easy
She runs hypnotically
She tip toes ridiculously for views....
Shout out to the camera man for keeping up and staying steady.
Struggling from knee pain coz of my arms swinging across my body. Started using this method, no more knee pain. Small changes, big difference.
I had no idea people needed a tutorial on how to move tgeir arms when running. Its a natural thing. You just do it
Always bringing great running advice in a simple and direct way. Please keep bringing the lessons.
True for longer distance runs but more explosive movements you should drive the arms with the legs much more. Great explanation of what is a basic but tricky concept for a lot of people!
As someone who's done both sprints and King distance running they are very different for sure.
Sprints are pure power - everything you so needs to make you faster no matter how much energy it uses
This is good sdvice for long distance tho
Mann... She just .... Runs gracefully....
Thanks appreciate the tips🌍💚

I have never seen someone run so beautifully ❤

Girl you make it look so easy 😀
Thank you for the advice. It’s incredible how many people don’t actually know how to run properly.
You are floating on air, super smooth running…
I learned this back in junior high, back when school was about learning things and unlike the daycare that school is today where kids cry over everything and need someone to massage their feelings!

@@_charihawkins Yes I do thanks for posting.
Steiner has mastered the arms
Yup good advice when I run for real I will forget this I know
As a stamina runner my coaches always told me to just relax my arms. Generally your arms will follow the cadence of your steps and vice versa.
It seems silly but every race at the last 400-100 meters depending on the race, you are pumping those arms fast as you can to speed up your step subconsciously and finish out strong with several passes.
I use that drum technique all the time 😂 specially when I’m getting tired 😂
👏👏👏
Thank you, i appreciate the explanation 😊
"pound on that drum"
My head: snare sounds in every step of her in 'pick it up' mode
Thanks coach , simple, direct and to the point advice.

don’t use closed fists when running
So now we have to learn how to run after spending whole childhood running.
First of all this woman is absolutely stunningly beautiful. Second. Her form is something out of a book!
Her stride is dog water. She's bouncing and not planting her foot correctly
Men dont copy this women style of running. Men u need to land on heel to not ruin ur he

WTF haha
Nice maybe you go back to the 90.
She running a little bit off, she way to high with the foot. But the overall style is right
Go ahead. Pound on that drum.
Yes ma'am.
Never thought about it this way. First time hearing it in very simple words “beat on the drum.” That’s not to say I wasn’t keeping the same form. Learned that technique on my own after running for many years. The full swing however is a must for me when doing a sprint at the last 200 meters of a half or full mary. Excellent tips.
This helped me get to 15:30 5km and 4:03 1500 meter run :)

Oh wow, now i actually know what to do with my arms.
I think she is the coach we all needed during after school track paractice, I remember who used to just say kick hard and move, like wtf it does not make any sense? Schools should have these ed videos for beginner track periods, if their PT teacher is useless.
