Why Dominik Szoboszlai Is Liverpool's Best Signing In Years

- Following Dominik Szoboszlai's £60m transfer from Red Bull Leipzig to Liverpool, the question remains over where and how he'll play. But after a disastrous season for Jurgen Klopp, this signing might actually be a masterstroke precisely because the answers to that remain unclear.

This is the most exciting transfer since Van Dijk.
I said exactly the same on other videos. He is class.
the same word you said it when nunez coming to Liverpool 😂
@@janc3520 nobody except some Twitter trolls said that. With big price money (was well over his correct price imo) people expected more. But he didn't turn up up to expectations but not a flop either.
I think most exciting since thiago, didn’t fully live up to expectations but thiago was top 5 midfielders in the world.
As long as he settles in well, 100%.
Another aspect is that Szoboszlai has the fundamentals down perfectly. He strikes the ball like water, he doesn't get himself into difficult pockets which decreases the likelihood of injury, and he understands the overall purpose for different roles. He's got amazing skills, but I honestly believe it's his brain that will make him a generational talent.
I saw his Free kick from the left side, bro the ball got zero gravity, the ball stay in the air and score a goal
@@greysouljr8913😢😢tittr
After watching him for three matches this season, I come upon your commentary and find it almost prophetic. For that, I am now a happy subscriber ready to listen and learn. Szoboszlai is superstar in the making.
Szoboszlai is like Liverpool's answer to Kevin De Bruyne, a dark-haired version and he even looks like a male model.
His ball-control is brilliant, corners and free kicks, I gather that he also a real long-range shot in his locker as well.
His English is superb, wouldn't really believe that he's Hungarian. His enthusiasm is infectious.
Szoboszlai is going to be a major player for Liverpool this season and is going to hopefully be a huge name in the Premier League
You can tell from Match of the Day that Danny Murphy already loves him.❤😊
I think being in the Liverpool squad he will raise his standards , and also he's likely to rise everyone else's game to .
Could not agree more ,I too think that being at Liverpool will bring out his best !!
Our structure and family environment has the framework to make that a reality !!
Very exciting , welcome to the best club in the world ,son !!
😂
As a Liverpool fan I think one element people are missing is his character, Liverpool are usually good at picking the right characters for the team and for most of last season a lot of our leaders didn't really pull us through our bad patches like they usually would. This guy has captained his national team at a young age he was a leader at his last club I think he'll be very useful in the dressing room as well as on the pitch. Add to that Henderson is getting older in football terms
2 weeks later, Hendo is gone.
Szoboszlai & McAlister together turn the weakest point into a strenght. Much of the problem last year was the midfield not having the bite & legs, it used to have, both are very good defensively in their positions.
They are both comfortable as 8s and 10s which suits the box midfield if we are using Trent as a deep lying playmaker. With Jones a maturing, and bajcetic, theres dept there now.
Szoboszlai adds dept to the forward line.
they underpaid for them, which leaves resources to add dept to CDM, RB or CD if they wish.
LFC went from a old team to a young team pretty quickly.
Don't want to be annoying, just to let you know it's spelled depth.
@@sodiacTV no worries. I use predictive swipe, and don't see the spelling mistakes. 🙂
I’m very happy with his signing, with his work rate, exceptional technique, shooting technique, etc he reminds me of Kevin De Bruyne. Hell of a way to strengthen the team, midfield suddenly looks very solid.
I’ve thought they are very similar too, it’s just the passing and vision that separates the two the most. Szobo is 23 tho so he’s got like 7 years left to get on the same level which I believe he could reach as his ceiling is very high. What makes I’m an even better signing is that his floor is high already as well. His off-ball play is one of the best in Europe, his technique when striking the ball is exceptionally good, his passing is on a great level and not forget about his defensive abilities which were underrated here in Germany already. The perfect player to follow in Henderson footsteps and make them bigger!
@@tankwarttim9603 You're mostly right but Szobo's vision on the field is absolutely amazing, he turns the play around in ways you'd never guess. Trust me I know, I know him and saw him live many many times.
He’s so silky on the ball, powerful, runs his ass off. He’s exactly what we needed.
As a hungarian im happy that he signed to Liverpool ,the only thing whats makes me worry that english football is more physical and not as "nice" football like in spain for example. But we hope in Hungary that we will have another world star player after Puskás ❤🇭🇺
you people have Barbara Palvin and Dom Soboszlai,.... why you Hungarians are so pretty??
@420leshrac9 thats why we are one of the best nation in the world ❤️🇭🇺
Few will be as good as Puskas, he was an all time world great.
But Szlob seems like a very good player 👌
LFC fan, and I've been hoping for a couple years now that we'd find a way to bring Szobo into the team, but there never seemed to be that much interest. Going from "LFC is interested" to Signed and Delivered almost instantly has been amazing. I think he's going to slot into that 8 role perfectly - and having TAA to Szobo to Salah along that right wing is going to give teams FITS. Don't get me wrong - I really like Macallister as well and think he's going to be terrific, but Szobo has a sky-high ceiling that has me super excited.
That right side, assuming Szobo slots in as nicely as we hope, is a mouth-watering prospect for LFC fans.
Strange I don't remember any Liverpool fans chat about this boy until they signed him. Now he's been wanted for years and one of the besg in the world, 😂
@@user-xu4xj2cd2j terrible attempt at trolling. Trent and Salah are already a ferocious right side and that was with Henderson mostly operating between them. Stick to FIFA 😘
@@GaaGaaGaaGaaGaaGaa2 you didn't proof me wrong, use are deluded and full of shit. Most Liverpool fans never heard of this boy until last week

The fact that it looked like a very bad transfer window, then it turned into rebuilding the whole midfield at once is amazing job by Klopp.
He is unbelievable already...
What I like most about Szoboszlai since I basically watched him grow into the player he is.(because I am also hungarian and we havent had a talent like him in 50 years) Is that he is a difference maker he could have a bad game but one bit of brilliance and he will decide the game.
Tehetségeink mindig is voltak, csak valahogy elcsesződnek félúton.
Fellow English Hungarian here very excited to see him shine
As a Hungarian who has been supporting Liverpool since 1997-98, I can say I am very excited about this signing 😁
I just hope the British media won’t put too much pressure on him like they always do with ‘big’ signings… 🤷🏼♂️
Fabinho didn't get a proper start of games until November in his first season, Klopp has options
don't worry he's overshadowed by the overpriced Havertz and Rice in Arsenal...these guys will be watched by british media; especially Rice.
Called it! Must be feeling pretty smug about how right you got this call. Good looking out man.
Im so hyped for next season.
Would love to see a follow-up of this video how correct you were in predicting he would play and how differently he is playing now.
You have to respect this man for judging a player the way you should not being bitter cause we got him you have to respect that I can relate to your way of thinking no matter who you support any way mate you got a good owner now and you deserve it Newcastle supporters are going to be exciting to watch now and again the fans have been through a lot of misery and I'm glad you are back
One thing that nobody seems to be talking about regarding the new system & signings is height/aerial ability. That's why I think Thuram fits much better than Lavio. Gakpo, Szobo, Nunez, Konate -- all over 6 feet & the ones just below like Diaz & Jota are still surprisingly good in the air. Not too sure about Mac Allister, but I can see recruitment's thinking; we'll spend less time chasing the 2nd ball if we win the 1st more.
We attack in waves of pressure which if unsuccessful often results in a clearance, especially with how often we cross, but Thiago and Elliot are never going to win you that 1st or even 2nd ball with the physicality of half of EPL teams nowadays. It's often seen as Big Sam tactics but the beauty of modern football is you can find easily find guys like De Ketelaerre, Dumfries, Rodri, Leao, Gravenberch, Zaniolo, Tchouameni etc who are towering, but also have technical skill or lightning speed, and you can find them in every position too. Could be what levels up Klopp's philosophy into something even more suffocating. Taller, better, faster, stronger. No way out.
Its to add more height and strength for defence of set pieces against us
however thuram is not a 6, but lavia is.
@@fatneekscommunity9186Dude, Thuram is like 6'3
@@simbathewhite-ishcat6691think he means 6 as in a defensive midfielder that sits in front of the back four 🤜🏻
@@simbathewhite-ishcat6691He’s not a 6. His height has nothing to do with it. This team doesn’t need another 8
He gives me KDB vibes, he wore the 17 in Leipzig and his passing and his long shots are jus too good considering his age and we know another one who has the same attributes but he's more established and is probably the best midfielder in the world and one of the best in the history of the game, I am really excited to watch him and kdb in PL because both are somewhat identical, it's like he's a younger version of KDB..
Really enjoyed this one. Good analysis. Subscribed.
Base shape will still be 433 but most of the game it would look like 3-box-3 with trent coming next to dm and mac & szobo playing more attacking midfield role.
Really interested to see the dynamic between Salah, Szobo and trent. Salah coming inside, Szobo going wide and then trent coming forward to the space created by szobo.
Still think we need another dm (lavia maybe) and lb/lcb hybrid (colwill/inacio) to challenge for the title.
Doesn't fix any of last season's problem though, we'll still be weak to counter attack and people will still target Trent who struggle defensively, should have put Trent as right midfielder instead, Klopp is being too stubborn, i think we could have a repeat of last season.
@@N9ndo trent was much better defensively when changed into this 3-box-3 shape. It brings more defensive structure but we seriously need lcb to take robbos spot
@@JereLFC 100% yes. Having trent move into a deep pivot on the attack instead of overlapping with Salah on the right means he has FAR less distance to travel when he needs to recover - a small enough gap that our CBs can cover it.
@@JereLFC What would we do with robertson? He's out of a job ig
@@lfdp2023 I think he can still be cover for that lb/lcb hybrid role but he isn’t the best fit for it. 😬
I love robbo but i think he might leave next summer if we stick with this 3-box-3 system.
I’m more worried about Tsimi who’s most likely going to be sold this summer.
It's a very exciting signing, as is McAllister. We've had all of our success under Klopp with a very workmanlike midfield, which allowed the creativity to come from the full-backs. So the thought of having young, fit, creative, goal-scoring midfielders is very exciting. And getting them in so early, so that they have time to learn the tactics is crucial. They seem to be taking this rebuild seriously, so hopefully we'll see at least two more potential first team players in the door soon!
I agree. What positions would you like to see those first team players in?
It was obvious from the first match of last season (against Fulham) that we needed physically commanding players in midfield to be able to compete with the rest of the league. Elliott and Carvalho (and Thiago) are very skillful players but would always lose out in a tussle. I'm glad to see Szoboslai and McAllister being acquired. This will strengthen our midfield.
This is an amazing analysis of Liverpool's system change from last season

How did I understand everything you said ? I speak zero german lol
Seems like incredible foresight, backed by fact. Good work!
No more Robertson on set pieces hitting the first man. Tears in my eyes.
This is a prophetic video.
Its 4 games into the PL season and he seems like an amazing player for us 👍

Great analysis. I'm a subscriber now ❤
No disrespect to past generations but this is the scariest Liverpool's attack has ever looked, competent Henderson type signing in midfield and I'd be putting money on them winning the league
Love how you ignore the fact that their attack is irrelevant because City and Arsenals attack is as good but their defense is still miles ahead of Liverpool. You don’t win the league with a great attack and shit defense
@@dundalisthe defence is fine, it was protected by wet tissue paper last season
@@dundalisInjuries didn't help, but what made the defense look so bad was precisely the terrible midfield, that's why we started looking fantastic defensively after we switched to the 3223/3241.
Playing a high line was horrible because the midfield was losing the ball so often it lead to a crazy amount of counterplays against us, we still need a new defender who can rotate RCB/RB or LCB/LB tho.

He's not going to play the Mo Salah role most of the time. He's going to be the right sided number 8.
Agreed, and yet he still may become Mo's replacement out of the right at some poin.
100%
Where does that leave Elliot though ? Think since he’s come back from that terrible injury he’s been one of our better players . I would prefer to play him on the left with Diaz In front of him then have Nunez or codi playing threw the middle
@@matthewtaylor13elliot may come good but is currently not physical enough, not creative enough, not press resistant and never an aerial dominance. He needs more time but ideally on loan or in cup games. Jones is a good example to follow in terms of developing enough to be a starter
@@muhammadnurariff4833Elliot is a very good creative attacking midfielder tho, his only problem right now is a lack of physicality
What I’ve noticed with our signings is where getting young players who love to get forward but won’t shy away from their defensive responsibilities if we get Lavia with Thiago bajcetic Jones in his end of season form and fabhino and Henderson as options we genuinely are only a left footed CB and a RB away from having the best squad in the league again we’re so close we just need to bring in the last few pieces
Something you missed out on is that Liverpool have an extra creator during foiled corner and set piece situations. Liverpool fumbled those a lot and never had the extra creators to resume foiled offensive play.
Not going to lie, I thought Newcastle would have moved the Earth to sign this guy. Him, Tonali and Bruno would have been incredible.
I read somewhere he told them he wanted to play for Klopp, but yes, some midfield that would've been.
He wanted to play for Kloop and he has a Steven Gerrard tattoo. Don't think Newcastle had a chance when Liverpool showed interest.

This is the most excited I've been for a transfer since Virgil, I was really hoping we'd sign him, even before we started getting really linked with him. Even Klopp wanted him from back when he played at Salzburg cos he interupted his interview after they played us in the champions league in 2019 lmao
I like your interpretation of the new signings. Interesting take to see him as a long term replacement for Salah.
For this season I'm convinced that Klopp stays with his 3-2-2-3 in attack, with Szoboszlai being part of the midfield box, replacing Henderson primarily. Maybe he'll try to rotate systems, even though i think he will try to avoid it. I think it depends on how quick the other teams adapt to the inverted ful back role of TAA..
As a hungarian you said it right the first time he said that so it’s easier to pronounce for non hungarians

Amazed by yr data gathered..... good job bro
Was desperate for this guy to join NUFC. Perfect for our system in a critical poation. Congrats Liverpool, you've got a gem there 👍
great channel with good stats and info 🔥Y.N.W.A🔥
I actually think he’s probably going to be used to replace Henderson in the 3-2-2-3 we saw at the best parts of last season. You would see Hendo instructed to run in behind Mo Salah which clearly didn’t suit him but is much more suited to DS
Szoboszlai looks like a very good signing, but so does Mac Allister. The Reds have needed a midfield overhaul for ages. Adding Lavia or Thuram or both would really mean Liverpool being back up there or thereabouts.
Very good assessment of this player. Szoboszlai has all the tools to be a vital signing for us. Whether both he and Mac Allister will be enough to push us back to challenging for the title remains to be seen. We still need to reinforce our defense as well as I have concerns about Van Dijk's long term effectiveness and Konate and Matip have been inconsistent. Time will tell.
I think its really good to have a player that does the things of others in the team cause it creates competion which forces player to develope
This is aging VERY WELL!!!!! GO DOM

szobo will play RCM for us as trent will keep being inverted RB and move into the midfield szobo can move to RM will be a 3-4-3 in attack with fab as it stands rn probably move down to CB when we have the ball

I will be very keen to see him settle in. Added to that the transformation of the midfield with be an interesting one.
Wow great read. You really predicted everything
3 months later and currently top of the league
The midfield is definitely looking more solid and I'm interested to see if the high tempo and fitness levels required will result in training injuries. Seems to be a pattern for incoming European players. Now let's bring in Thuram and next season starts to look promising.
He's from Leipzig who play a high intensity game
Not a Liverpool fan but I hope they comeback strong this season. City needs competition so that they don't dominate the league like Man U did during SAF era.
I can’t wait for next season with the new signings and hopefully we’ll get lavia and thuram.
Sadly we’ve ended our interest in Thuram 😞 but it looks like LAVIA is incoming for us and if we get him we’ll have one hell of a midfield next season 💪🏻
It’s refreshing to see a positive liverpool video, Twitter is constantly scapegoating a new player every week and losing sight of how good the team still is. Sure they could use more defensive depth and should’ve been more aggressive in the transfer window, but I’m still realistically confident in a top 4 finish with the current talent
I think he may turn into the second coming of Stevie G with all of the skill sets he has from the videos I've watched!
he's got decent shot and takes good corners. Great signing

If Trent also plays much of the season in midfield, then that would mean our midfield is suddenly packed with goal scorers. MacAllister, Trent, and Szobo! Scary!
This is going to be as transformational for our Midfield as Fabhino was when he signed and sorted our DCM issues for good.
😂
Most definitely impressed!🙃🤣
I dont think we played as much 4 2 3 1 as you suggest. We did this weird thing with Elliot as RCM when he should have been playing behind the striker.
Fully believe Liverpool will be challenging this season with another couple of singings, specifically one more defensively minded midfielder and a centre back.
Big missing context of the Trent inversion and transition to a 3-box-3. The 4-3-3 is only for the our of possession phase of play
I'll be honest, as a Liverpool fan, I still think we need another midfielder, and that's before Thiago or Henderson possibly leaving. We were bad last year because we lost the one thing Klopp's teams need and that is thrust/legs/running from the midfield. Thiago is not known for it and Henderson's legs are gone, he might do it in some games but at his age, he can't do it twice a week, with Milner and Keita gone, if Liverpool were to get good cup and europa run, feel like another midfielder is needed.
LIverpool still needs a defender . That's where all the trouble is . The rest positions has a quite a lot of depth . Hope they sign someone . Martinez changed things for Man U . Liverpool has to get someone reliable in the back .
The Alexander Arnold situation is one of the most interesting conundrums in a while. Clearly a natural half back, the best crosser of the ball (without having to beat a defender) since Beckham and dead ball kicker extraordinaire. But natural defender - no. Tremendous player if you can fill the hole he frequently leaves and give him cover when under pressure he’s a must in any team. So is he going to go forward now that Liverpool are rebuilding midfield and if so how will the hole be filled. Opposition teams have learned to target him and it has frequently worked so a solution has to be found. Keep tight at the back and lose what he has going forward or give him free reign and weaken the defence. I watch with interest.
Looks a bright prospect for sure!! Snd under Klopp and the team around him he'll become a frightening player 😊
I’m gonna say it: He’s the best signing since Virgil and we haven’t even seen him play at Anfield yet.
Was this not said about thiago, Diaz and nunez
I'm so disillusioned by Keita I'm not getting excited.
He is top top top basil, kloop will probably give him a free role in midfield, he also reminds me of berbatov when he was at Man Utd and Tottenham.
Think you forgot to understand how they switched to inverted fullbacks near the latter part of last season.
Well liverpool really needs depth. 60 mill on depth is a brilliant idea knowing that it's the cause of our downfall this season not even qualifying for the champions league, so with that said I love the guy he's pure quality.
He is: SO - BOSS - LA - E
Hoping he can be a real jack of all trades type player. Maybe Liverpool's version of Mahrez, if that makes sense
I am very giddy for this signing
As Arsenal fan I think Liverpool did two great pieces of business - not that I complain on ours lol, but I like Liverpool and always wish them well (except winning EPL in front of us ;) )
