- The GLB is Mercedes Benz's smallest SUV in their lineup. The AMG 35 is the gateway into the performance side of Mercedes and their SUVs. On the outside you will find an AMG grill, upgraded front fascia, wheels, brakes and rear bumper. On the interior you will be greeted to a race car inspired steering wheel, sport seats, and plenty of tech. Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 301HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with power getting to the ground through and AWD system. Is the 2021 Mercedes AMG GLB 35 a performance SUV worth the price?

I picked up this exact model and color a few weeks ago. Its perfect for me and checks all the boxes. Practical, comfortable, sporty, and I like the boxy look. We needed a family suv as we currently have a 4 month year old boy and maybe more on the way. With this suv I can still have some fun when the family isn't in the car 😈

Is it much stiffer than the regular GLB?
@@BoopSnoot not really. Put it in comfort and its not noticeable feels like a glb250. Put it in sport plus and its more stiff. But then I put everything in sport plus then switch the suspension manually to comfort. It's perfect
I know it's too early but any reliability issues so far? Do you plan to keep it long term? I'm asking because I'd love to get my hand on one of these in 1-2 years after they have produced it for a while (getting the bugs out of the early year production models).

Love my GLK 350 but this is for sure next! Not overly large as the newer American SUVs are and still has a little punch to it with a decent luxury interior. The all wheel drive is a major plus

I own a regular glb with amg line and I love it, I can’t imagine with the actual amg engine

Great review. I traded in my 2020 CLA 35 for this yesterday and couldn't be happier. Got great trade in value (almost what I paid for it in July 2020) and the GLB 35 was reasonably priced, which was nice given the crazy market. In some ways this actually drives better than the CLA, even though they have the same engine. Love the additional space and features. I do wish some of the features were available in the base, because they add up quick. Overall great car.
May I ask what made you make the switch?
I traded in a 2016 cla 45 amg for the glb35.. obviously the cla was much faster then the glb35amg but the glb35 runs so much better. I hated the suspension in the 45. I also love the extra cargo space. No regrets
@@adicarlogeneral I got basically what I paid for it in July 2019 as a trade in value and I tend to get bored of cars after awhile. Figured I wouldn't get a better deal so it was a good time to pull the trigger. I think the GLB drives a lot better than the CLA35. Seems to have less turbo lag. The GLB is a great little SUV and the carbo space is great.

I get the knock for not having cooled seats but then again no manufacturer (to my knowledge) has cooled seats with the Alcantara option. And I really like the Alcantara seats in the A35, GLA35 and GLB35. I find them super comfortable and, like cloth, they do not get as hot or cold as leather. I had an A35 AMG as a loaner for 2 weeks with this same interior and it was a hoot. I would definitely shop one of these if I needed a small SUV because the powertrain is very charismatic.
This makes my mouth water. And all this for only 60k? That's an absolute killer price.
My neighbor, who is a cardiologist, just sold her 2017 MBZ SL 550 and purchased a black 2021 MBZ AMG GLB 35. I just stair at it each day. Its beautiful and sassy looking. The 21 inch AMG silver wheels are awesome. The rear diffuser with the chrome exhaust tips are high end. The owner is a beautiful blonde lady, about 35 to 40 and in great shape. She could have afforded a GLC or a GLA but she chose this model.

Hi Zonkman, I'm going to call you Mr. Zonk from now on and I love the AMG GLB35 from Mercedes-Benz, yes I think PERFECTION should've been the name of the game when it comes to the car industry without a single Mistake. Love the TLX Type S and I truly believe that, 1 if there were no mistakes made in every car, it would've been a great idea. and 2 car manufacturers should've been PERFECT since their early days but you know that, I know that, the whole world knows that humans are far beyond perfect.

Does it have the AR overlay for navigation? That thing is so cool. But I guess you need HUD. C class have jt then?
Great review as usual. You cover a lot of info in your reviews, how about 40 mph to 70 mph time? I love my car but when traffic on the highway slows and speeds up, I have a difficult time catching up so it is one thing I look for now.

I heard that these have bad road noise. I know some of the options on the Macon Porsche is cutting road noise. I think it's important to factor.

I honestly was going to close this review out and move on due to the price of this small Merc. But I stayed for the fake engine noise and the quick-shifting trans. I was pleasantly surprised. these are some of the best features I have observed in a small UV. I usually pass on the brand due to the potential long-term ownership problems, however, this has my attention now.

This car would look good lowered on air suspension with some 3 piece wheels. Its a classic Euro design, but damn it kinda looks like a smoothed

I Love this Vehicle. Few Zonks are: I wish the entire roof was Panoramic. And they should've tucked the real windshield wiper underneath the top. And needs ventilated seats and a lid over the Wireless phone charging section.
Also, you can fit a minimum of 50 boxes of Twinkies In the trunk. Nice Video

Plus the floor in the hatch raises up and down to be flat with the lip or lower for more room.

The automatic transmission is a DCT. All GLBs use DCTs. Same with the GLA and CLA.
Ill definitely be switching from my GLK 350 to this one soon.

Honestly for the money I’d get the 250 which has more than enough bhp. You won’t need to worry about the air suspension maintenace etc and save tons of $$$$

No way, the sound and 0-60 are just like average cars. Not worth extra $ for the AMG badge. If you want AMG, get the 63 or not at all.

Hopefully the AMG version feels better. I like what the GLB looks like, so I drove a normal GLB and the whole thing felt like some really cheap little car, inside and how it handled... I was really not impressed for the price.
What I'll always love about AMG is how performance-minded their ambitions are with every MB vehicle. AMG's dedication to giving the driver advantageous features only featured on LMP/GT class cars is world class. I mean, why would anyone need active dampers in a family hauler??? Unless you are carving down some canyons in Sardinia, Italy..
Like the GLB, but pretty expensive barrier to entry.

The MLB is best as a cube shaped luxury compact, the amg version makes no sense, the 3 row makes no sense. Just this is an extremely practical compact with a really nice interior, and it outshines the GLC, GLE, X2, X3, X4, X5 and anything Audi (minus all the big V8 versions). This thing is design wise a GLS mini and it really does the job well.

No better day than today to have an AMG reviewed when Lewis Hamilton splanked Red Bull in the formula1 Spanish Grand Prix..love Mercedes extra love for AMG..amazing review. My 2 cents- this suv is over prized but you don’t have a lot of competition in this segment for that performance!
