Their number one mistake was to rubbish the royal family, because in so doing not only did they generate a lot of dislike, but they burned their bridges behind them. If they’d just left for their “private” life in America with dignity and a respectful silence on the subject of family disagreements, they could have quietly built their “brand”, branching out in whatever direction they wanted to go. Then, if it all went belly-up, they would have had the royal family to fall back on.
But they had to go shooting off their mouths, whining about persecution and discrimination, and trying to achieve too much, too soon, because of course Meghan has to be a “star” and Harry thinks he can walk on water just because he’s a prince. Now everybody is taking pleasure at their failures, they’ve made complete fools of themselves and there’s nowhere left to go.

Brittany, imo, what happened to Meghan at the Variety red carpet event was the most embarrassing incident that could happen to a "celebrity" and I would certainly include it among the disastrous moments in the Sussex's year. Meghan was not only being pushed off the stage (because she didn't have the sense to know that her time was way past up) but she continued to stand there, continued to preen and pose. She is beyond shameless. And no doubt she fired the poor assistant who had been told to tell Meghan to get off the stage.

I agree. Everything was wrong with her at that Variety event. The ugly beige dress was not to be worn off the left shoulder, nor without a bra. It looked like a last-minute fashion disaster. For some insight into Harry's mindset I highly recommend CZcamsr Cheere Denise's summaries of each chapter of Spare. She's an English Lit. teacher so is skilled at drawing out the relevant themes. One she mentioned was Harry's 'helplessness'. He doesn't seem to comprehend that he has to make his own path through life. Instead, he seems to think it's entirely dependent on others either making things happen for him or preventing negative things from affecting his life. If they can't or won't, then he has no power to do it for himself. I agree that his narcissistic traits have come to the fore in recent years, but in listening to Cheere Denise I don't think he is a narcissist per se - he has some form of cognitive damage and developmental delay. He thinks like a very young teenager rather than a man nearing 40.

The " oh look at me, I have no choice in my life, no control" I don't for even a nano second believe he felt helpless. Lately I've come to believe that Harry and Meghan probably agreed that they wouldn't mention the racism allegations in the Oprah interview, but once Meghan was out there she went rogue and he's been cleaning up her mess ever since. Hence his follow up call to Oprah after the interview aired to request that when she went on CBS the next morning to discuss the interview, that she mention on camera that Meghan wasn't referring to his grandparents. This also proves he knew the conclusion people would draw from Meghan's breadcrumbs, but I digress. I think she double crossed Harry once she was in front of Oprah, and he's been trying to fix things how he can ever since. Granted that's no excuse to let the story stand for two years; but it's Harry we're talking about and he's an invertebrate. Nice video!

I agree with you, she went rogue alright, you could see how uncomfortable he was ....however, this was a recorded interview, he could have stopped it's airing until all of his wife's evil and untrue accusations had been edited out. Same applies to the part where she lied about being married 3 days before in the backyard by the Archbishop of Canterbury, he could have stopped that too knowing full well what a furore that would cause, which it did.

Brand Sussex started with clout under the RF umbrella until Her Late Majesty put an end to it. It then became a source of curiosity during a Pandemic for a general public fascinated by celebrity & controversy. It tried to be a Foundation for worthwhile causes using the status of it's founders whilst doing minimal work & attaching itself to other charitable establishments. It resorts to talent agencies & uses self promotion to correct a general recognition that the brand has no foundations to stand on apart from fading reputations. It now only exists to serves as a source for social media platforms to analyses, scrutinize & mock.
Unless there is dramatic change the brand will continue to wither like the reputation of is founding members.
It’s been four years with the unhinged ones. I’m tired of them and I hope we don’t hear from them in 2024. There's commentary channel that reports on general celebrity gossip. The host had reported on Spare, but when followers commented that Meghan was a narcissist he felt they were being harsh. It was the car chase that had him pay more attention to Meghan and realized something was wrong with her.
And I feel that the true legacy of the car chase. People who weren't paying attention or who were neutral started looking at them differently.

H and M were given the option to be in or out of Royal life. They chose to be out but were still given a year to make a final decision. During that time King Charles still supported them financially. They said that they wanted to be financially independent but when, after that year, when they opted to stay out of Royal life, H still had the nerve to say that his father had cut off the money!
In my opinion, because H was never made to face the consequences of his actions, he still has no understanding that all our actions have consequences. He seemingly expects that he should have all the privileges of being Royal even though he chose to give up that life. Perhaps he should do some research into what happened to Wallis Simpson and to Edward after they gave up the Royal life.

The whole book needed a better editor! Instead of 400 pages of drivel, it should have been about 250 pages. I found the whole thing so boring, I had to skip through some paragraphs just to finish it.
It should have also been tightened up with details only given that were interesting and that supported Harry's narrative.
As I understand it, Harry wanted to write this book so that other people would understand how he felt about his life. The book needed much more work to accomplish this goal. It got sidetracked by stories showing Harry's personal vendetta, especially against royal family members and staff.
Harry inserted (or made up) details that were designed to put his targets in a bad light. This actually put HIM in a bad light and cast doubt on the rest of his story.
A good editor would, at the very least, have written the Elizabeth Arden cream story with MUCH less detail and would also have left out information about William's private parts entirely. This was not information Harry had the right to disclose.
I was also astonished Harry put the actual name of the disabled lady that he mocked into the text. Same with Courtney Cox. A decent editor would have nixed these references.
In Spare, Harry is just revealed as a self-centered, immature man-child who seems unable to view events from anyone else's viewpoint. It was astonishing that an editor let this version go to press!
One of the best analysis of the epic 2023 year of failure. Not only giving the events of disaster but explaining why they failed and how the Palace is going to limit their ability to inflict damage ( taking away FROGmore, needing advance notice, seating them away from Senior royals, etc). When the Harkles attempted to emotionally manipulate Charles into allowing them to keep Frogmore Cottage, I think that was when Charles realized that he had to cut off all contact with them. I believe he also realized that they were never going to allow their kids to have a relationship with him. Harry and Meghan truly believed he catered to to their wants and Charles was like can’t miss what ya never had.

2024 is not going to be a better year for them, I’d say they’ll further sink. Here’s why, it’s one thing to fail, it’s another thing to fail even when there was such an advantage of opportunities and resources to succeed, and even perhaps the work ethic wasn’t ideal. It won’t make a difference though if neither of those two learn from those failures, that is the key to unlock any success is the knowledge of understanding that failures can be tools to learn blind spots to correct. This is why their Hollywood endeavors was never going to take off, neither of them have the experience to have failure and to learn from them.
One is clueless on even forming basic comprehension of the real world, the other’s ego is too fragile to listen to small criticism. 2024 is going to continue their spiral downfall, I think they’re losing hope in each other because of the misconceptions they both had of each other, and the blame is going to be thrown at each other instead of taking accountability for their part.
Agree! There’s no self-reflection in a narcissistic personality. So, they can’t learn from their mistakes and grow from it! It will always be someone else’s fault!
