If you have a DDR5 motherboard, make sure that the RAM sticks you have are on the QVL (approved RAM) list for your motherboard! Or you may run into some instability. For all DDR4 setups, I would highly recommend enabling it so you can get the most out of your RAM sticks! In this case, I went from 2667mhz to 3600mhz, so the PC will run faster. A few weeks ago i built a new pc with ddr5 and when i activated EXPO (the amd version of XMP for everyone who doesnt know) and i instantly noticed performance and stability issues. Also my boot time went from 13 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes. If you are having issues like that go back into bios and disable it. If it takes waaaay to long to even get into bios you can disconnect your pc from the outlet and take out the cmos battery to reset your bios to default settings

Word of advice. Make sure not only your mainboard supports your ram frequency but also your CPU memory controller. Take it from someone who has had system instability issues for 8 years due to overlooking that the CPU could not stably run the XMP frequencies of my RAM. Once I turned off XMP the ram frequency went back to a supported one and now the system is stable for the first time ever!

I had the same issues, I just overclock the CPU and GPU, no point in turning on XMP and overclocking my ram for minimal performance increase at the cost of stability. If it that's important I'd just buy more ram/faster frequency ram, especially since it's so cheap nowadays.

This was me!!!! I thought I had a shitty 1080p monitor. Turns out it went to 244. The difference was night and day!! The first thing I noticed the cursor was extremely smooth and my games fps went past 60fps!
Happened to me. Custom built from large gaming company. Had it for a long time, did not cause problems until I upgraded the GPU. Then the cpu thermal throttled like a crazy monkey!! That's how I found out, during change of thermal paste. I was shocked! Got a pretty sweet deal from them and upgraded to 7800x3d and a new rig. They were PRETTY embarrassed. Also removed the plastic on the old Intel one and added new paste...seems to have survived the looong time of cooking 😊

you dont have to enable xmp, it increases performance but can reduce life span of your computer. Unless you are gonna run high end apps like games that need big amounts of fast ram then enabling it would be a good option
I just love to share this: If the BIOS battery runs dry, for people that unplug their PC or turn off the power strip after shutdown, the BIOS settings will reset, disabling XMP, in some cases causing the PC to freeze or have bluescreens with memory related error codes. The RAM is not dead, the little cell on the motherboard is. Easy fix.
my 570-e gaming mobos holder for cmos battery doesnt hold it correctly, it resets bios constantly if it moves.. n e solutions besides getting a new part sodured on?
@@core36 the holder, it is attached to board, but the cmos battery wiggles and any little movement causes it to fully reset ppc along with bios.. very frustrating as the MOBO was over 400 US
@@iamthemusicman13 did you check what the print on the battery says? The type is usually printed in big clear letters, visible without taking the battery out of the socket. If it wiggles, I suspect that the battery is the wrong size. If the print says anything else than CR2032, then there’s your problem. A CR2016 has a thickness of 1.6 millimeters, half the thickness of a CR2032, which is 3.2 millimeters, that is supposed to go there. By extension, a CR2025 is 2.5 millimeters. The first two digits refer to the diameter, in millimeters, and the last two digits refer to the thickness, in tenth of a millimeter. If the print is CR2032, you can try another brand of batteries, maybe there was an error in manufacturing of the battery. otherwise replacing the socket may be the only option to save the board.

Not really, once you watch some videos you'll get an idea of what to do. I built mine recently and I have to say, it was pretty straight forward. Getting your PC setup after installing all of the parts can be tricky though
Nope, but they do take a lot of research in understanding what is compatible. There are lots of resources online to help. Best way to learn is to watch build video tutorials.
They are pretty self explanatory, you just lock your parts into place in the motherboard. Don’t stress over putting in your graphics card, it’s easier than you think.
Man my first build was perfect on the table. But once I got it in the case it didn't work. Turned. Out the lack of space in my case caused me to not plug a line into my power supply tight enough. I took the whole thing back out and put it back in and it's been perfect for a couple years. Even replaced the mb recently.
Even more important. Go into additional mouse options in settings, go into pointer settings and uncheck "enhance mouse precision". This is windows' built in mouse acceleration and will make it impossible to make your aim in games the same motion as your mouse does. Unchecking it will make learning aim possible instead of having to counter the accel. Aim training will finally work.
I spent around 2 days figuring out why my games crashes every 30mins, this video came outta nowhere and figured it out immediately. talking abouy saved by the algorithm. THANK YOU MAN. SUBBED.
Back in the day, downloading RAM was real. Page File wasn't built into windows yet so you had to download the program that allows you to use your HDD as extra RAM space. :)
With my first build BIOS scared the f out of me because someone told me that its complicated and you can easily damage your pc. So on second build I pretty much studied everything you can do in BIOS via youtube videos and many forums and realized that it's not so scary and really easy to operate when you know what you wanna do. if you hold shift when clicking on restart pc, on boot it'll bring you to the recovery screen, in which you can access bios through the advanced options menu WITHOUT having to demolish your del key. as relatively peaceful as demolishing is is.
Hey another tip! Idk if for every single bios is like this, but I've had my pc for a little over a year now and I did enable XMP after getting it all nice and set up, but after maybe 8, 9 ish months I switched from 16, to 32 gigs of ram and apparently I had to re-enable XMP on my new set, so if you ever upgrade anything, make sure you check something like XMP if you upgraded ur ram recently! hope it helps
omg i love you. I struggled with lots of newest games, always got such low fps no matter the settings, never could get it 60 or over. Straight away with XMP enabled games went from barely 40-60 to over 100!
People, if you're using windows also make sure you turn off windows fast boot. The fast boot feature makes it so the PC will never actually fully shut down, this can cause problems with certain drivers and programs, it could also slow down your pc. I did this on all windows machines I have had my hands on. I found that turning it off will cost 7 seconds on avarage in boot times.
I once downloaded RAM, when I created a swap file on a cloud storage. I'm pretty sure you could do it vice versa and stream your swap directly to Dropbox etc.
I helped a co-worker build his pc, and he had already set the ram, and some other stuff, just needed help with fans, hard drives, and water cooler. Also helped him with setting up windows and drivers, programs, etc. I couldn't get past the windows half way install, turns out he had 2 different types of ram speeds...wasted like an hour or more.
Oddly enough I was helping a friend with their build and his system would not POST with XMP enabled. The RAM kit was on the motherboard’s QVL list. We ended up needing to manually dial in a 3000 MHz clock instead of the 3200 MHz the XMP profile had. Kinda a bummer to run into it but sometimes XMP is not always guaranteed and you may run into little hiccups with it.

If your bios reset, It’s probably your cmos battery. Go ahead and give that a replace then apply your bios settings again.

Having had trouble with XMP in the past, I manually set my memory timings. It only takes a few minutes, and it's way more configurable.
Back in the day, downloading RAM was real.

Idk if for every single bios is like this, but I've had my pc for a little over a year now and I did enable XMP after getting it all nice and set up, but after maybe 8, 9 ish months I switched from 16, to 32 gigs of ram and apparently I had to re-enable XMP on my new set, so if you ever upgrade anything, make sure you check something like XMP if you upgraded ur ram recently! hope it helps
omg i love you. I struggled with lots of newest games, always got such low fps no matter the settings, never could get it 60 or over. Straight away with XMP enabled games went from barely 40-60 to over 100!

People, if you're using windows also make sure you turn off windows fast boot.
The fast boot feature makes it so the PC will never actually fully shut down, this can cause problems with certain drivers and programs, it could also slow down your pc.
I did this on all windows machines I have had my hands on. I found that turning it off will cost 7 seconds on avarage in boot times.

The most important and commonly forgotten PC setup settings for gamers is turning off mouse acceleration and enabling 144hz+ modes in settings.

I once downloaded RAM, when I created a swap file on a cloud storage. I'm pretty sure you could do it vice versa and stream your swap directly to Dropbox etc.

I helped a co-worker build his pc, and he had already set the ram, and some other stuff, just needed help with fans, hard drives, and water cooler. Also helped him with setting up windows and drivers, programs, etc. I couldn't get past the windows half way install, turns out he had 2 different types of ram speeds...wasted like an hour or more.
Oddly enough I was helping a friend with their build and his system would not POST with XMP enabled. The RAM kit was on the motherboard’s QVL list. We ended up needing to manually dial in a 3000 MHz clock instead of the 3200 MHz the XMP profile had. Kinda a bummer to run into it but sometimes XMP is not always guaranteed and you may run into little hiccups with it.
