      me I have worked retail and as someone who had to work that freak show, why the heck would i go shop. Nightmares, straight nighmares, though not as bad as that poor girl on the table yikes. Though some people can be really awesome, i can't tell you how many times we'd have a cashrep crash or our internet would go down making those long lines even more insane. Most people were patient and would wait it out. The others just make you wonder why they bothered shopping in the first place. Hope you all had a nice thanksgiving.

    Dang people really going nuts over things they can get for the same price online...

    • @projectpat8807
      @projectpat8807 Před 5 lety +8

      Not really. I make a mental note or write stuff down of what prices are for things I REALLY want/need online before heading to the store on Black Friday. I can actually find stuff cheaper at stores than online. I actually just go Blu-Ray/movie shopping on Black Friday. I'm not competitive though. I go in with "if I get it, I get it, if not, oh well" attitude. But when it comes to movies, I have found movies on sale at Walmart and Meijer or even Best Buy that aren't on sale on somewhere like Amazon. That or I find movies cheaper at the stores than Amazon. Like $3-5 cheaper. Maybe sometimes up to $10 cheaper. And you got to be smart too since at Walmart, there are hidden movies on sale. What I do is go around the Blu-Rays in the electronics section in Walmart after checking out the ones that are marked and start grabbing whatever movies I've been holding off on buying that aren't marked. Then I find a price scanner and start checking prices. Usually about 50-75% of the movies I grab from the electronics section are part of the sale but not marked. Plus they aren't on sale on Amazon either. Another reason I prefer going to the store over online is because of what is mentioned in the video. Sites WILL go down. I can still shop and stuff at stores even with all the people in the store. And it's also possible for items to sell out before I can hit the button to finalize the purchase even if they are in my cart. When I'm in the store, I'm kind of guaranteed the item if I already have it in my cart. Only way I may lose the item is if someone decides to start taking stuff from my cart. Overall though, I feel online and in-store have their pros and cons. But one thing the two have in common is that hackers can still attack the two. Online shopping is obvious, but a few years ago Target's in-store systems were hacked on Black Friday and hackers stole a bunch of customers' credit card info. I think they also hacked the systems to be live too. So when someone made a purchase, the hackers automatically got the credit card info. So unless you are paying with actual cash, you still have to worry about hackers no matter how you shop.

And I go to stores in two different towns/cities that are 2-3 hours away. Mostly because I travel to my older sister's place the day after Christmas and visit her and my nephew and niece then. But stores for 2-3 days after Christmas are filled with people returning and/or exchanging gifts, people buying leftover discounted items, and then people going after all the Christmas stuff since it's also discounted. Usually 50% or 75% off. Then also add people just doing normal, everyday shopping. Stores are complete madness for 2-3 days after Christmas. Not really. I go for Blu-Rays. The last 2-3 years I have found movies cheaper at Walmart and Meijer and also Best Buy than somewhere like Amazon. And no like 10-15 cents cheaper. I'm talking $3-5 cheaper or even up to $10 cheaper. Plus the stores will have movies on sale that places like Amazon don't have on sale. Also, I do check out Amazon first to see what prices are. Either I'll make a mental note before leaving the house or write them down. That or look them up before I put them in the cart. And even if movies still cost the same, I'll still put them in the cart. And as the video mentioned, sites WILL and CAN go down. So if they do, then I can still get the item at the store and WHEN I'm in the store. Also there is the possibility that an item can sell out online before I can hit the button to complete my purchase even if it's in my cart. Don't have to deal with that when in stores. Only way I'm not getting something even if it's in my cart while in the store is if someone attacks me or whatever and starts stealing from my cart. But people where I live overall behave themselves on Black Friday. So I don't have to worry about people stealing from my cart. But I think it's best to do both in-store and online shopping on Black Friday. They both have their pros and cons.

      @projectpat8807 Před 5 lety

      Yeah. It's kind of amazing that people still go out and buy stuff on Black Friday when reports are posted every year saying that the deals aren't really deals. Well, I still go out and buy stuff, but I only go Black Friday shopping for movies/Blu-Rays. I'm not into the TV's and all that other stuff, although Black Friday 2018 was one of those VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY rare times I bought a gaming console. Been doing Black Friday shopping since early 2000's. Like 2001 or 2002. This is the first year I bought a gaming console (Xbox One). All the previous years I just buy movies. And I even keep an eye on prices and prices for EVERYTHING starting around September and not just movies. So even I notice what all these news articles and CZcams videos are saying and call BS on Black Friday and just further stick to buying only movies/Blu-Rays. The movies/Blu-Rays are the only things that are some deal on Black Friday. And if I buy anything else, either I need it, or I was watching the prices and the Black Friday price is a more reasonable price.
      Also, I disagree with people saying that online shopping is better than in-store shopping. I think it's best to do a mix of both. They both have their pros and cons. Using the Blu-Rays/movies again, I found movies cheaper at Walmart, Meijer, and Best Buy than somewhere like Amazon. And like $3-5, maybe $10 cheaper. Plus they'll have movies on sale that Amazon doesn't. And there also some things that you can only find in the store and not in the store's website. So you can't really rely on online shopping to do all the shopping. And Amazon may either not have the same item, or it's WAY more expensive on Amazon than a store's online store.

      @Matthew Monroe I'm not the dumb ass fighting for falsely discounted merch. Majority of that merch is not newly released. Majority of the stock being sold are older models. Especially, TVs. These dumbasses shopping easily aid in clearing shelves for next year's models. Simultaneously, aiding the retailers (the corporations) inflate their fiscal income for the last tax quarter.
      Have you forgotten the newly designed tax code that benefits the wealthy and corporations? It's those so-called middle class, lower class people who will not get tax cuts when they file their 2017 taxes next year. They should be saving their money.

    • @soxpuff
      @soxpuff Před 5 lety

      @Matthew Monroe
      If only people will acknowledge and recognize gifts ARE NOT mandatory. It's simple, really. If you can't walk into your family home and maintain relationships without gifts, you must be under a lot of pressure.
      My prescence and my contribution to the family celebration of having time off and spend it together is gold. We cook together, share the meal, catch up, argue, eat, sing, dance, watch TV, drink and eat more. We are not perfect, we're rocky in fact, but being together and enjoying someone's company is a soul-fufilling endeavor. If we invest in the well-being of each other, gifts are not a concern or a distraction.
      If people celebrate birthdays for a week or a month, then it shouldn't be a big deal to wait anyway. No one should think of the other person any less for it either. They shouldn't be in your life then.
      A gift is given willingly to someone without payment, more specifically, without seeking approval or a gift in return. A gift should be a blessing for a NEED one has. Corporate retail is in business for profit, for YOUR hard earned money. They don't gift, they sell.

They rank it lower than a store or online site's normal sales throughout the rest of the year. Heck they rank it lower than when you got a little extra cash and can actually spend money when the item isn't on sale at all.

      Well, I go in with a "if I get it, I get it, if I don't, oh well" attitude. I mainly go after Blu-Rays/movies though. So that also explains my attitude. I can usually get a good stack of Blu-Rays each year. Most of the time I go in casually and approach the Blu-Rays casually too. Only times I walk out with not that many movies is if the movie selection is made up of movies I either have already, don't want/didn't like, or I'm not interested in. That's happened about two or three times now. Every 2-3 years it feels like if I hadn't bought a movie in about 4-5 years, I could walk out with a MASSIVE stack of Blu-Rays. A lot of movies though I like to buy Day 1 they are released and feel they are worth the full price, so when Black Friday comes around, there isn't much to buy. I think the last time I had a huge stack of Blu-Rays was either 2012 or 2013. Maybe 2014. But the last few years I only walk out with about 5-10 movies. But when it comes to everything else, I don't really buy them. Especially the big items or items that everyone hears about the shoppers going after. Mainly the TVs. And a lot of the stuff I don't see why people fight over. I kind of keep an eye on prices for things starting in September and up until the week before Black Friday. A lot of the stuff isn't really a deal. Some of the stuff isn't on sale either. They are normal prices, but since they are in the Black Friday ad, it tricks people into thinking they are "supposedly" on sale. A lot of the smaller items are about 50 cents cheaper or maybe a dollar or two cheaper, depending on the item. At least with Blu-Rays you can find them anywhere from 50 to 75% off. And 50% off of new releases isn't too bad, especially if they were released a week or two before Black Friday.
