Thought I'd put together all the evidence. At a certain point we have to see that Aspinall, Blaydes and Pavlovich are all lining up to fight each other and Gane hasn't fought any of them. We don't hear Blaydes or Aspinall calling out any other heavyweights for ducking other than Gane. Then there's the interview in this video where Gane literally admits to planning on waiting out for the winning of Jones vs Miocic after beating Spivak last year. Gotta be a punishment for this.

(obviously they’re in French) The most popular one is La Sueur but personally I a not a big fan - mostly based on drama and translation of content from English speaking media. If you do speak French I would recommend Fight Minds, a crew of fighters and coaches with great expertise on the sport.

@DCshandle I've said it once and I'll say it again. Tom aspinall is what ciryl gane could have been if he had more hard work and discipline in his mind. Ciryl completely relies on his talent, whereas Tom has ALMOST if not the same amount of talent that ciryl gane has but on top of that Tom actually has discipline and is hard working, and most importantly, he is hungry and obsessed with fighting, or would drawn be the more suitable word? Let's just say Tom is more drawn to fighting than gane is. I feel like ciryl gane grew up in an athletic big body and was like "Welp, I'm pretty athletic, I guess mma would earn me good money" and just decided to pick up the fight game as his job while having no passion for fighting.
As a frenchman who may understand a bit better through the lack of language barrier. Honestly i think the UFC for Gane is a job and a hobby at the same time. Not his life.
In the way he talks in french and what he says about the sport, it feels like he loves MMA, loves Combat sports but loves his family and friends even more, AKA, he doesn't live for MMA. He just happens to be very good at it and appreciate it at the same time. I don't feel the same motivation as some other fighters to become legends of the sport.
To be fair, can you really blame him ? If he has this perspective on the sport, taking more risks than needed for his health in order to reach the top is indeed careless, he is not the type of fighter that want to fight everybody. he looks like the type of guy that just want to see the top once and then leave with a nice career behind him and focus on his other activities.
Does he have the star champion potential with his personality ? I don't think so. Does he have the potential to become champion with his skills ? Sure. But that's not him being scared either. The way he says it, it's clear that he's just conscious that at this level of MMA in the heavy weight division, each fight can take you years of your life away. He's a very humane, friendly and appreciable guy. But that's not the type of people MMA Fans want to see and that's understandable.

I feel people are confused. It's not that Gane ducks. He just taps so quickly, sometimes he does it before the fight even starts, so it looks like he ducked. But really he just taps when he is visualizing the fight before it happens. So in Gane's mind the fight happened, he just is so talented at tapping, he taps faster than most believed was humanly possible. So I really can't blame people for thinking Gane ducks

Dana kept him soooo safe from dangerous wrestlers and grapplers like Tom and Blaydes just so he could feed him to Jones and claim Jones is the best.
Gane was 100% paid to lose to Jones. UFC wasn’t letting Jones lose in the same week that Francis signed with PFL.

I find it hilarious. Gane went from one of my favorite fighters to a complete joke. Not trying against Jones, not trying hard enough training and playing fifa instead, now all the delusion and ducking when he isn't even coming off a win.

I really like Gane as a fighter, his style is very fun to watch but his recent choices about his career since the Tuivasa fight has been very disappointing and frustrating to watch…at this point he should’ve fought Aspinall or Pavlovich but he’s trying to be too calculated about his career to where it’s effecting his activity and face in the community…
